Re: cliff j (# 109) Expand Referenced Message

Hi, I totally agree with you. Chronic back pain sufferer for over 20yrs. I was on opiates Vicodin then Norco to ease the pain to function and to continue working. Had lumbar surgery in August of 2016. Surgery helped a lot. Last six months pain is starting again in the same areas as before surgery. For the last 20yrs I always had some tightness spasms numbness stabbing and such in the thoracic part of my back but it was helped with the opiates I was taking before surgery. Yes I did therapy I had deep tissue massages ice packs heating pads CBD oils creams steroids steroid shots and ibuprofen to help. Ibuprofen was the only over the counter med that really helped and I could take up to 10 a day in needed. Also Epsom salts baths too. Found out in November 2018 I have a Central Disc Protusion at t7-t8 pushing in my spinal cord as well as a Disc Protusion at c6-c7 pushing in my spinal cord. A few months ago had 2 MRIs on lumbar one with and one without contrast and my doc put his fists together with his knuckles lined up to each other then he moved his fists up and down and told me my lower back is doing this too. I have received NOTHING from my doctor of 18 yrs since his office cannot treat chronic pain due to new OPIATE LAWS.

Went to pain clinic he referred me to. It was such a joke I spent over 1,700.00 dollars and when the pain spec finally ordered a MRI I went got it done and while I waited for my next appt I went to have deep tissue massage from my doc and he asked How’s the Pain Clinic going did they order your MRI? I told him yes He says he did order it with Contrast didn’t he? I said no, why? He told me after surgery in order to really see what’s going on in that area MRI should be done with contrast. Well Pain Doc appt came I asked him why my MRI wasn’t ordered with contrast and he said well it’s bad in the kidneys I was like my kidneys are great functioning great never had a problem with them He says well they can go at anytime. He then ask who told me about Contrast after surgery I said my doctors name as he is the one who referred me to him. The pain doc gave me a look and asked Who gave you your surgery I told him and he says Well Why don’t you go ask him what he thinks about my MRI and ask him what he would do. I was shocked at his unprofessional conduct. So I played with him being sincere and mature I said so if he wants to give me a cortisone shot I should stay there and let him give me the shot. HE WAS LIKE OH NO YOU HAVE TO COME BACK HERE. I explained to him my insurance does not covered the U/A and it costs me 310.00 out of pocket. He just said Wow that’s a lot but regardless you need make an appt with me for the shot If that what he thinks.

Needless to say I never went back. I paid my bills with them even though I felt I shouldn’t have had to. So now for me PAIN HAS SUCKED UP MY LIFE DUE TO THIS “OPIATE CRISIS” My job is suffering I suffer everyday I have no real enjoyment because I cannot do much of anything because of those spasms and total back pains. I haven’t even tried to ask anyone for Norcos to help me at least to function without teary eyes depression and to get some part of my life back. I get so upset because of what this laws and restrictions have done to me and my quality of life like the millions of others who truly are suffering and truly have chronic pain where in some people and their type of pain, OPIATES are the only thing that seems to give any kind of relief. Let’s not forget Norcos last only a few hours I’d say 4 hrs tops in helping but I’m pushing that. It’s truly more like 3 hrs. I’m 56 I was a waitress for 26 yrs then went to factory work. I do love the work I do I love the people I work with and the company I work for. But when people like myself are dealing with chronic day after day night after night pain sometimes it’s hard to love or even like anything in your life. I also was refuting a Neurosurgeon by my doc back in December after that MRI I had in November last year. I will not write another novel about my experience with him. Let’s just say he tried to tell me I never had surgery on my l5 he laughed YES HE LAUGHED AT ME while I was telling him about the WORSE DAY I EVER HAD IN MY LIFE AT WORK WITH SUCH SEVERE SPASMS I COULD NOT REALLY BREATHE. He laughed and said SOUNDS LIKE AN ANXIETY ATTACK. I asked him WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING AT ME, I never had an anxiety attack in my life.

It was SEVERE SPASMS. He just shook his head left to right with a cocky smile. I don’t know why but I listened to him as he ordered more tests and I got them. After a little over 2,000.00 I just STOPPED SEEING HIM. All the while I am dying with this back pain. I finally called my surgeon because actually I didn’t think he could help me. I could still work without busting into tears I did shed tears secretly on a daily basis though. My surgeon looked at my MRIs I explained to him the severe pain I was having and he listened. I had a Thoracic Epidermal Steroid Inj. with sedation On May 22nd. I finally found some relief Thank You Jesus!!! It’s not totally gone and I can get up to three a year. My only prayer is that soon one day I can get back on my regimen of taking the only medication that gives me some quality of life. All this time I wasn’t given any pain meds. Only anti-inflammatory meds which I refused to take because I needed IMMEDIATE RELIEF for my pain so I chose to continue to take my ibuprofen. I know the dangers of taking too many of those but I had / have no choice anymore. I must take something I need to work. Thank you for listening if you read it all. I apologize for taking so much of your time. Also I’d like to add I like thousands of others have had the same doctor the same pharmacy for just about 20 yrs. I’ve never went to the ER asking for pain meds. I’ve never asked the pain clinic doctor for pain meds as I never asked the neurosurgeon for pain meds. I was praying that thru my MRIs bone scans ct scans xrays and my testimony of how my pain affects my everyday life they would have at least eased my pain while they were figuring out which route to take. That did not happen. If anyone is reading this and lives in the Kalamazoo Michigan area knows of a doctor a pain clinic that can help me I would be so appreciative for any information. Thanks again all.

Re: Herman (# 20) Expand Referenced Message
Why it is not even the same pain medication is because the manufacturers (because of the pain medication hysteria commonly known as the so called “opioid crisis”) has reengineered the pain medication and has removed 70% of the oxytocin from the pills because they thought they could remove the threat of addiction but all they did was remove 70% of what made the pill effective. Also, for many years, the manufacturers have been allowed to put up to 20% less of the active ingredient in their pills. So we are hit with a double whammy. 20% less of the active ingredient (for example a 7.5 hydrocodone can legally only have 6 mg of the effective ingredient.) on top of that the manufacturer has reduced the oxytocin in the remaining ingredient by 70%. This is the times we live in. It is not political as all parties are responsible for where we are.

Also, no Pharmacy will answer questions about any controlled substance pain medication. They are afraid that you are a thief they may be calling to find out I’d you have any pain medications on hand so they can come in and steal them. The pharmacy that I always went to told me one time that it would be “two to three days” before they could fill my prescription. I was called later that day and told they received a shipment of the pain medication I had a prescription for that day.

Re: Julie (# 15) Expand Referenced Message
The hydrocodone you are posting about is actually name brand Vicodin. When you see 300 mg acetaminophen as part of the prescription it is name brand only. The 325mg acetaminophen is the generics.

I believe Watson bought out Actavis and quit making the Watson brand hydrocodone. Whatever the situation is Watson hydrocodone is not manufactured anymore. IF there is any Watson hydrocodone left out there anywhere it is only in Pharmacies that may have some still around.

Re: Kevlar (# 14) Expand Referenced Message
I understand your concerns because I know Pharmacists have begun practicing medicine even though they are not trained as a medical physician. These Pharmacists have never examined you, they do not have access to your medical records, but they make a diagnosis based on no more than their Pharmacy training. They are trained on how medications interact. They are not medically trained and have no business trying to tell you, WITHOUT ANY MEDICAL TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR MEDICAL CONDITION(S), what they feel is the correct treatment. The Pharmacists, with the agreement of their employers, are compounding this so called “opioid” crisis. There is no “crisis” among legal users but the street druggies and thief’s fuel this hysteria. The authorities cannot get to the real core of this problem so they go after the legal chronic pain community and say “look how we are attacking this problem”. If someone robbed a bank a County away and they came and arrested you for the crime even though you had absolutely nothing to do with the robbery is EXACTLY what attacking innocent Chronic pain persons amount to. This assault on the Chronic legal pain medication user has to stop.

Where can I find Watson brand Norco in Hemet, Temecula, San Jacinto, or Meenfee?

I am sorry to say the only one that carries em is Walgreens but OEM you need to get your doctor to write on your RX Dispence as written on your rx and get your insurance company to agree the take it Costco or any of them. Sad part of your carrier agrees you pay 50.00. If not you pay 500.00! Sad but blame Walgreens because they and the rest refuse to carry Actavis which the name now. It’s all about f greed. I will find another source. Blame Walgreens sorry. This is the updated truth Greed and greed. Your rest of your meds probably come from China. Watch out.

Why can’t I find my hydrocodone 10/325 by Watson? I have checked many pharmacies in PA and SC? No one carries it but did last month. Only one I can tolerate. What other companies have the same added ingredients?

I have contacted them 5x and I found out through one of their office people they don’t read Med Chat. They read Face Book. So call HQ and post your complaints on Face Book. About the junk Norco they are using instead of Watson Actavis. They are playing cheap. I callled FDA And triss has 1 percent pain med. Shame on Walmart money for customers. I will move all my Meds to Costco. Heck them

Re: W john (# 34) Expand Referenced Message

I am replying to my own message as I do not know how to “edit” it. I reported that Watson was bought out by another company. Actually, Watson bought out Actavis according to the research I have done. I was totally unaware of this until I went to fill my script and. after over 10 years, I was given a pill manufactured under the “Actavis” brand name. This “Actavis” pill was awful and totally ineffective. I have been told by an internet article and two pharmacists that hydrocodone will no longer be manufactured under the Watson brand—only Actavis. Walgreen’s told me back in January 2018 that I could accept Actavis or nothing as they had no intention of changing manufacturers. If a company was making a conscientious effort to run off long time customers they could not do a better job of it. After a relationship of over 20 years and in two different States I left for another company. They use a different manufacturer. It is somewhat better but not much.

Re: w john (# 95) Expand Referenced Message

I’m certainly not in that category!! I live solely on social security and had to apply for the extra help. I didn’t drive miles away to check, just went into a pharmacy close to where I live and they did participate, but weren’t in my provider's directory. So it was well worth it to me. We have to be our own advocates. Seems like nobody wants to help anymore. Also, Rx coupons are another option for 70-80% discounts for people who pay cash. That’s if you found what you’re looking for in a nonpar location.

Re: Deedee (# 94) Expand Referenced Message

I have already checked on ALL of the pharmacies "in network". I know where I can fill my scripts. There is no use in checking further than the printed pages of the "in network" pharmacies and then call the insurance company to see if any pharmacies were added AFTER the booklet was printed. My options are go to one of the approved "in network" pharmacies OR pay the "out-of-network" prices which are way higher. I guess if one is independently wealthy they can go wherever they please costs be damned but to those on a fixed income that is not an option.

Re: w john (# 93) Expand Referenced Message

I understand what you’re saying and just because it’s not a CVS, Walgreen’s, or Rite-Aid, doesn’t mean the smaller chains like Sav-On, aren’t necessarily out of network. My Medicare Plus Blue PPO is accepted by this pharmacy I’m using and they’ve ordered my meds that CVS told me they weren’t allowed to. It’s worth checking.

Re: Deedee (# 92) Expand Referenced Message

I have a PPO Medicare advantage policy and I have checked around to find prices both in and out of network and the out of network prices are much higher. For example, a named brand medication IN NETWORK costs $8.80. At an out of network pharmacy the same identical medication would cost me $125. I don’t mind paying a little more for better service but over $100 MORE. Even if I was independently wealthy I would not pay over $100 more for the same medication.

Re: w john (# 91) Expand Referenced Message

I was in the medical field for 35 years and know all about the rules of staying in network. If you have a PPO rather than an HMO with or without your Medicare, you’re more likely to find lots of options. I just happened to stop in at a “drug store/medical supply pharmacy”, and they went over my list of meds and where CVS charged me the full copay, these guys sometimes charge under a dollar and my copay was always $3.30 for everything at CVS. The smaller stores aren’t corporate owned and much more willing to keep their customers happy. It’s worth a try??

Re: Deedee (# 90) Expand Referenced Message

Part of the issue if you have health insurance is which pharmacies is considered “preferred” by the health insurance company. They will only pay the “in network” payment if you fill your prescriptions at an approved pharmacy. If you go to a “mom and pop” pharmacy that is not considered “in network” you will pay a higher price to fill your scripts. I do not like the idea that the Watson brand of hydrocodone is no longer being manufactured but that is the world we live in today. If you go to a Walgreens you will have any hydrocodone scripts filled with the Actavis brand and the Actavis brand is awful compared to the Watson brand that was used for years. I had to move my pharmacy to get something other than the Actavis brand but I had to move to an approved pharmacy to get my scripts filled at the same price.
