I want to consume diatomaceous earth and can't find anything saying if it is o.k. to do so. ## Hi Anita, Although I can't seem to find any specific details on interactions with Diatomaceous Earth, it is regarded as a non-toxic, safe substance made up from fossils of freshwater organisms. In my opinion it should be fine to incorporate with a prescription drug, but you may want to feel more assured by talking to your doctor. Have you taken this supplement in the past with any success? ## No. I have never taken it but have been reading a lot of positive information on it. I wonder if anyone else here might have used it with success.
Hi, I have been taking warfarin for 5 months. I´have accident during skiing and I´have had thrombosis and embolism. But now, my doctor wants me to stop taking warfarin (little by little, it will takes two months probably...). The problem is, that I know that I will be afraid of having embolic again, I´m 23, I can´t imagine it now, I mean live with fear for the rest of my life. I know, there are worse things, It´s no big deal if we compare it with serious illneses, I know... Is there anyone, who don´t use warfarin anymore? After thrombosis, embolism... It probably will be ok, in some way, but now, I´m really afraid of it... Thanks,

i have pulmonary embolism for the last 18 months and have been taking warfarin 10mg sometime 12 mg depending on the INR value at 6pm everyday. Now i have been diagonised with thyroditis and been prescribed 50mcg of Thyronorm-thyroxine sodium tablets ip which is taken every morning. I would like to know the side effects of the two tablets . ## The side effects don't normally change when medications are taken together, however, they can aggravate each other, in some cases, making the side effects worse, so you do need to watch for that. Wararin, a generic for Coumadin, is a blood thinner. It's side effects can include: nausea, dizziness and hemmorhage. You can read more on it here: Thyroxine is a thyroid hormone. Side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness and weight gain. You ca...
After post dvt have been taking warfarin for 3 weeks now and still can't get the required inr levels to level out . Have been on 13 mg daily for the last week and my inr did go up to 2.6 after 3 days but went down to 2.4 and last check was 2.0 . I don't eat or drink anything with vitamin k . My doctor doesn't seem to know why with such a high dosage of warfarin my inr level is dropping . If anyone can give me some insight to a reason for this I would be very grateful . And could pass the information on to my doc. ## I had the same problem and had to switch from Warfarin to the branded drug, Coumadin. While they are suppose to be the same, they are not. Once I changed, everything has been fine. ## for non metalic valves inr between 2 to 2.5 is acceptable. inr also depends upo...
Hi i suffered DVT a second time in Dec 2011,was on Warfarin whole of 2011 till March 2012,i stopped after visiting a doctor whom after various tests indicated i had no reasons to continue with therapy.I am now experiencing sharp pains on my left thigh,i can hardly manage stairs ,could it be DVT again? ## Yes, it is possible that it is a recurrence. Is the pain similar to what you experienced before? If you've already had it happen more than once, then it most likely means you are more prone to it, which is probably why they had you taking the Warfarin before. Learn more Warfarin details here. And did the doctor have you taper the Warfarin, or did you just stop taking it all at once? If so, that may have caused the problem right there, because stopping it suddenly has the possibility...
Can Lexamil be taken with Warfin? ## Usually, it's recommended that the combination be avoided, because it can increase the risk of bleeding, they tend to have a synergistic effect on each other and thin the blood even more. I have been taking Plavix for 3 years or more and now my insurance company says that is not on their approved list. Is warfarin an acceptable substitute? ## The only thing I know is that the doctor told my husband Plavix makes blood slippery so it can get into smaller places but it doesn't affect the clotting and Warfarin makes the blood not clot as fast ## i think it depends on what you are taking it for. Plavix Is An Oral Antiplatelet Agent Used In Treatment Of Coronary Artery Disease, Peripheral Vascular Disease, And Cerebrovascular Disease. i've been on coumadin and actually have been happier on plavix none of the bi weekly blood works , i can eat what i want as i love green leafy vegtables. but i have heard that if someone has been on plavix a long time it is harder to cont...
Can I use Kavinace for sleep if I take warfarin? ## SInce the Kavinace is a natural supplement, it really hasn't been tested for interactions with prescription medications, as is done with other drugs. Have you tried asking your doctor or pharmacist? There are some herbs and supplements, such as Vitamin K, or anything that may cause blood thinning, that should not be taken with the Warfarin and they would be able to check it more closely for you.
Doctor has presribed me Glimmer 2 mg tablet before breakfast & he has stopped Daonil I used to take before breakfast & before dinner. I also take two tablets of glucomet 500, one after breakfast & one after dinner. I also take 2 tablets of Glucobay 25 after lunch & 1 after dinner. Since these are also anti-diabetic tablets, do they interfere with each other. I also take other medicines like warfarin & Levera 500.
UpdatedI have been using Warfarin since Dec.'06, due to blood clot in arm,my stomach started giving problems, then I was put on Altosec. Strange thing is that I have been experiencing pain in my heel. I am trying to find the cause of the pain. When I get up in the morning I can hardly walk, due to the pain in my heels.Could this be a side effect of the drugs? Anyone out there with the same experience? I cannot take the warfarin without the Altosec, as I said because of the problem in the stomach. I had a gastroscopy which showed gastritis, therefor I was put on the Altosec. I am really worried about this, doctors just prescribe and do not worry about the side-effects. I sleep very badly, wake up several times during the night with no feeling in my hands, like needles and pins. ## I have star...
I was given Hydroxychloriquinine when I was on Warfrin are these drugs ok to take together ## Hi Redken, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between Warfarin and Hydroxychloroquine. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. There are however a handful of interactions found between Warfarin and various foods. It's a wealth of information, so I hope you're able to discuss this with your doctor if need be: "Vitamin K may antagonize the hypoprothrombinemic effect of oral anticoagulants. Vitamin K is a cofactor in the synthesis of blood clotting factors that are inhibited by oral anticoagulants, thus intake of vitamin K through supplements or...
i take warfen because of iregally heartbeat. ## Yes, Warfarin is sometimes given to people that suffer from an irregular heartbeat, if their doctors feel there may be a risk of clotting. Greetings, Prescribed warfarin leaves me very fatiqued. Would a switch to prescribed Plavix elimate the daily fatique ? ## What are you taking it for? Have you consulted your doctor? The reason I ask is because, in cases where someone is taking it due to some heart problem, it may not be the medication itself that is causing the fatigue. In these cases, the fatigue could be caused by the cardiac condition, itself. Unless they are constantly having to adjust your dosage, fatigue as a medication side effect should wear off and not be as severe, after a few weeks, when your body has adjusted to the medication. Thus, you really need to consult your doctor, to make sure it's the medication and not something else. Plavix contains the active ingredient Clopidogrel and, even if your fatigue...
I have severe pain in my left wrist and it is burning. Can I rub some Deep Heating Rub on it even thought I am on Warfarin ## I'd suggest asking your doctor or pharmacist, to be sure. While there shouldn't be a problem, it really depends on the ingredients of the rub you are using. Some of them contain products that can cause additional blood thinning. Or, if you'd like to post back with the ingredients, I'll be happy to check for you! Do you know what it contains?
