Recurrent Dvt

Hi
i suffered DVT a second time in Dec 2011,was on Warfarin whole of 2011 till March 2012,i stopped after visiting a doctor whom after various tests indicated i had no reasons to continue with therapy.I am now experiencing sharp pains on my left thigh,i can hardly manage stairs ,could it be DVT again?

Yes, it is possible that it is a recurrence.

Is the pain similar to what you experienced before?

If you've already had it happen more than once, then it most likely means you are more prone to it, which is probably why they had you taking the Warfarin before.

And did the doctor have you taper the Warfarin, or did you just stop taking it all at once?

If so, that may have caused the problem right there, because stopping it suddenly has the possibility of causing rebound effects that make your blood more prone to clotting.
