Visine Lr Discontinued? (Page 33)
UpdatedHaving problems finding this product. Has it been discontinued and if so, do you know why?
I first used OcuClear, as it also contained oxymetazoline. I learned way back then that the oxymetazoline made the difference. When OcuClear was discontinued, luckily I found Visine LR. I've used it every single day since then, more recently purchasing 6 cartons at a time online.
I started using eye drops because my makeup (esp. mascara and eyeshadows) made my eyes itchy and red. If my eyes are now addicted to eye drops, "oh well." I'll continue the addiction, because after all these years of daily use, my eyes are still completely healthy.
He's a scammer. Trust me. I was the one to give him the idea to sell on eBay. When I first contacted him, he said he had Visine LR in stock. This was his response to me:
HI there
Yes i do have Visine LR in stock. How many are you after?
Regards
- "best deal ever xxx"
Then I asked him to double check and read me the active ingredient, etc. to confirm.
So he replied:
Dear jxxxxxx,
Hi there
Sorry after closely looking at my stock, i havent got the Visine LR, it was discontinued as well.
Regards
- "best deal ever xxx"
He then devised a strategy to sell the Indonesian equivalent Cendon on eBay. And yet, despite all of my assistance, he wouldn't sell me any at a discount, which I found to be disingenuous, since I was the one who gave him the whole background of the shortage in the U.S. and the pent up demand.
Please do not deal with him as he cannot be trusted.
Opcon A has been a great substitute as I have mentioned earlier. Please keep us updated if Visine LR comes back to shell life
Can you please let me know the process you use for mixing the afrin with the artificial tears. I'm going to try it
Just checking in. I've written about all my letters last week. I hope I get some responses. We really need these oxymetazoline eye drops.
Yes! Please let us know if you get any responses. :) Thanks for writing the letters!
I used Ocu-clear for many years and they discontinued it. A very nice associate at Ocu-clear told me to try Visine LR as it has the same active ingredient, which I did.
When I first started using VLR I personally didn't think that it worked as well as Ocu-clear, but it was better than anything else on the market. I'm wondering if we shouldn't start putting the pressure on Ocu-clear to bring back their eyedrops seeing as Visine could care less about their dedicated customers? Truly it worked better than Visine LR and it was less expensive too. Maybe all this pleading should be directed to Ocu-clear, at this point. I would love Visine to regret ever taking our blessed product and dragging their feet so that they lose out...they deserve it!!!!
Unfortunately Andrea, I would have to wish us good luck getting OcuClear eye drops back, as it has been off the market for years. Looks like the company that made OcuClear may still be in business:
Schering-Plough HealthCare Products, Inc.
Memphis, TN 38151
... not sure, though.
My last bottle of Visine LR is like "precious gold."
It's just too ridiculous. Amazon has a 6-pack of Visine LR for $789.95, as well as a single carton for $99.99.
Unbelievable!
Well folks, I heard back from Johnson & Johnson again. Sorry to say, it's just not going to happen for us. :-( They're not going to bring Visine LR back, despite all our frustration and begging.
Oh well.
I'm sure J&J considered our disappointment the first time they created a brief "lull" in the production of Visine LR that had folks complaining. But as it is with most things in life, once things are taken off the table, they don't return unless the torch is passed to someone else. It happened with OcuClear and hopefully it will happen with Visine LR.
So, I think we should concentrate on other companies. I've already written Bayer, since they own Afrin, the nose spray containing oxymetazoline.
Hopefully, if not Bayer, then some other company or pharmacy will deem this as a great opportunity for business.
Rhonda,
How did you find the information? The Visine representative for Walgreens was still trying to contact her "inside" colleagues to confirm this for me. But she did seem to think that the last time I talked with her that J & J was not going to bring Visine LR back nor were they contemplating creating another product with oxymetazoline. :(
I did contact Bayer as I said in the past and basically they just thanked me for the idea of asking them to create an eyedrop with oxymetazoline. Let me know what you hear from them.
For those new to this thread, here is a link to a petition to Prestige Brands, the makers of Nostrilla, a nasal spray with oxymetazoline currently on the market, asking them to make an eyedrop with the same ingredient:
change.org/p/prestige-brands-please-make-eyedrops-with-oxymetazoline
Thanks Rhonda and all here sharing information.
Thanks for the update, Rhonda.
You're welcome, Tony!
Hoping I hear from another company today. I'm starting a new job soon, one that I hope I can keep until the end, and I am feeling a bit insecure and nervous about not having my oxymetazoline eye drops. I want to look my very best and make a good impression.
Hopefully a company that produces a U.S. approved ophthalmic product containing oxymetazoline already exists and is in marketing stages, (doubt it). It takes years to get FDA approval for import. As for a U.S. owned company or any other to produce such product as 'NEW' will take years for approval as the FDA requires 1,2, and sometimes 3 phase trials and then clinical trials before final approval and domestic distribution. I think we're out of luck. I'm hoping something comes about. But. It sounds like tough love.
"PLEASE" Don't buy the LR from the '(GOUGERS)' Sorry, "Dbags". The expiration dates will be running out soon! They'll have nowhere to sell and not be held accountable for sale beyond that date. Any argument to this statement only provides evidence that these jerks are following this string! It upsets me that people would actually pull this kind of crap.
I spoke to Visine yesterday and the rep said that they are considering bringing LR back however there are "manufacturing complexities"....Whatever that means. It just makes no sense to me why they would discontinue the only product they manufacturer, that actually works.
As I was diagnose with rheumatoid arthritis, I want to try Collagena Medica pills, how much ia s bottle and where can I find the here in South Africa_Gauteng?
Thanks Daryl, I can't believe the price gougers out there...ridiculous!!
#651 - Christina,
The letter I recently received from Johnson & Johnson basically "put the nail in the coffin" for me. They restated that Visine LR is discontinued. They said they are encouraged to see consumers so passionate about their products and that they appreciate our feedback.
Sorry guys, but I really believe J&J is giving us the runaround. Or, maybe some of the customer service people don't really know the correct answer. Someone says one thing and then someone else says something else.
I was dealing with the Consumer Care Center and there is no hint in their last letter to me that Visine LR will return. In fact, J&J gave me a phone number to call to discuss "other products" that might match my needs (other eye drops etc that are currently on the market).
No thanks.
