What if any side effects are people experiencing on viibryd
Not off viibryd yet, I'm down to 10 mg. slowly going off. The pains in my joints have decreased significantly. Only time will tell when I'm off completely.
No the doctor does not agree, but I got this pain after I started it. Then I read this web site and found other people were having the same type of symptoms. So, I am not sure that it is viibryd , but it seems like I am hearing the same symptoms that I am having. They want to run test to see if I have lupus or Rheumatoid arthritis but gonna wait it out. The time line just make me point it at Viibryd.
I've been on Viibryd a month and my joints ache bad. I thought it was statins, but I stopped them with no let up on joint pain. When you quit Viibryd did the dr, acknowledge that was the culprit of your pain? Thanks
Regarding the sleep issues many have experienced, here's some personal information that I hope will be helpful.
During the first month of taking Viibryd, I was experiencing occasional night terrors, waking up feeling like I had not been breathing, and also awakening 10-15 times per night. My wife noticed during this time that I had begun mildly snoring. This was odd because I had never snored in my life.
So I started paying attention to my positioning when I would wake up from the episodes listed above. Lo and behold, it was only happening when I would sleep on my back. I now sleep on my side and/or stomach and no longer have any of the problems. My theory is that the Viibryd causes such a deep sleep for me that I experience sleep apnea and my tongue would back thereby blocking my airway. I also think that the loss of air is what would cause the paralyzing night terrors.
I hope this is useful information for someone.
I agree with Tk. It's something about REM sleep. I feel like I've never been in such a deep sleep in my life. And it's not good sleep either. It's so weird.
I agree, I'm slowly weaning off and have noticed joint pains are subsiding. I still have stomach issues that have never ended. I just hope when I'm totally off that my body will return to normal.
I am 52 and became weak also and I have very sore finger joints and wrist and feet hurt. It started 3 1/2 months after I started med. I have stopped for a little over 2 weeks and the pains are leaving slowly. The med was great for my depression, just not what it did to my body.
I have been on the full, 40 mg dose of Viibryd for more than six months now. At first I had the brain zaps (went away) and diarrhea (also went away). I am happier than a frog hair split in the middle. Apparently we have seratonin in our gut, not just our brain, thus the diarrhea and nausea, which went away for me. I have had a milcase of dementia prior to starting Viibryd caused from 21 years of taking Clonazepam for panic. That hasn't changed at all. Since being on Viibryd, I now have about four bowel movements per day and I have lost and maintained keeping off 40 pounds. It seems to have speeded up my metabolism. I eat like a horse and do notgain weight, which includes sweets also. This part isawesome because I have always had a weight problem. I sleep quite well with normal dreams. The only negative thing I can say is that first I had tennis elbow which finally went away. Then I started having carpal tunnel issues. That now seems better. I am, however, as weak as a kitten. I feel like I am developing arthritis in the joints of my fingers. But I'm not sure if Viibryd could be causing the joint issues or being 49. Also, with regard to the weakness, I had Graves Disease in 1999 and had to drink radioactive iodine to kill off my thyroid. Whenever my supplement needs to be adjusted, I get weak. So, who knows? Overall I am happy and thin. Lol. My daughter, however, is also on 40 mg of Viibryd and gets brain zaps and sweaty if she doesn't take hers at exactly the same time each day.
savella helped clear the fog and got rid of the pain...I finally was able to get my house clean. Then the migraines started coming... back to back. Had a history of them but under control for years and rare clusters that responded well to Imitrex. I tried so hard to keep on the Savella but couldn't.
I had the same experience as I was going on Viibryd. I am slowly weaning off because of the side effects. So far so good I'm down to 20mg. I hope there are no permanent effects after all is said and done.
I only took it for 3 1/2 months and that is when it is to late and the side effects are terrible. Please stop taking this medicine. It is not good for you.
One more thing... That loud humming or zapping or zooming sound that comes out of nowhere... What is that and why am I still having it every so often as I fall asleep even a month out from coming off the viibryd? I'm a physician (but NOT a psychiatrist) and it seems for me at least to be related to falling into REM sleep too quickly. I hit the pillow and fall immediately into the brain whooshing/zooming and dreaming... That is NOT how normal sleep works. REM or dream sleep is supposed to come much later in the sleep cycle so something in this medication is seriously messing with the sleep stages... Horrifying stuff. I hope we all can recover.
This sleep thing seems to be a common thread... I wish I had known about it when I had started the viibryd and I wouldn't have though I was going psychotic. I was hallucinating the moment I fell asleep, seeing things while partially awake, feeling things ,move around me, hearing voices, paralyzed and unable to move, my doctor thinks I may have had seizures as well. Had to stop the medication and start Lamictal. The problem stopped after 2 weeks off the viibryd
Me too!!! Sleep paralysis and severe hallucinations that scared me senseless. The symptoms went away after I discontinued the drug but what a nightmare.
I posted a few weeks ago when the side affects weren't that bad. But now the brain zaps and dreams are terrible!!!!! I feel like I can't wake up or move or speak. It's so scary!!! I don't want to fall asleep sometimes. I've been on viibryd for about 3 months maybe. I'm going to tell my dr that I'm done.
I missed a dose one day and that whole night I thought I was dying. I didn't know I missed the dose until the next day and seen it in the pill holder. Stop taking this medicine. It has my legs and my feet so sore that I can't hardly walk. My tendons and muscles in my legs are so sore. I have been off almost a week, and hope this get's better. Stop taking this medicine!
My mother suggested using a natural herb found in stores such as GNS and Vitamin Shoppe. St. John's wart 900 mg one a days. So far so goo.
I decided to decrease to 20mg to see if sweating at night and ear ringing would stop. The sweating did stop but still have the ear ringing. I didn't relate my feet hurting to the med, but reading this makes me wonder. Now I have decreased to 10mg. I don't sweat at night. I still have ear ringing. My orgasms are not delayed as much as even on 20mg. But!! My mood is not as great as when I was on 20 and even 40. I'm thinking of stopping all together but want to take something. Time to head back to the doc I guess.
I've been on Vibryd 40 mg. for almost 3 months. I recently missed a dose and was fine that day but when I tried to go to sleep the nightmare started. Over the course of 60 minues, I dropped off to sleep 20-30 times and was immediatly woken out of sleep by subtle brain zaps followed by spooky noises outside the house (and my entire family was home an in bed), I woke up, drifted back off, zap, eerie noise wake up...a few instaces I had short dreams of my children dying or trying to harm me...straight out of one of those jerky hand-held cam horror movies. I ended up taking a Zolpidem which cut through all this and let me sleep, mostly. At this point I decided that I'm already a day off and I better take advanted of the lead I had and go ahead and go off this, maybe I'll taper?
Tell your doctor to read some of the posts on this site. I too had joint pain muscle pain etc. I'm slowly reducing viibryd and low and behold my pain is subsiding. Is that a coincidence? I think not. I'm slowly coming off of viibryd with the hope that all the nasty side effects will be gone too. I'll keep you posted.
