The drug company doesn't list the side effects people are having? They are on the Viibryd website! Know what Arthralgia is? Paresthesia? Somnolence? How about Akathisia? And "brain zaps"? That is one of the most commonly listed side effects of ALL psychotic drugs, primarily when changing doses. They result from a global downregulation of serotonin receptors in response to increased levels of serotonin in the synaptic cleft. The warnings are all there. People don't do much research on what they put into their bodies. Aspirin kill people every year due to G.I bleeding, but we just accept that. Every drug has side effects.

Well I to this day certainly am very sorry I ever took this medicine. It has made all my muscles and joints hurt. And I still get the pains in my head that are very painful. I believe the people that are out pushing this drug, drug reps should take it for a year and see how they feel, and the people taking it. They can brag about it because they are getting a paycheck to say good things. I think they have made a bad product and I wish they would pull it off and maybe research it a little more. I have been in pain over a year now, and losing hope that I will ever be back to normal, this pain hurts when awake and in bed, awake or asleep. No narcotic's help with the pain, I do take tramadol and Ibuprofen quite often and they can't be long term d/t they will hurt my body in other way's. Well, I am glad if it is working for some and sure it won't work for us all.

A nurse? So you can't write prescriptions, only needed a basic understanding of most meds to get your degree, and that makes you an authority? LOL. I remember very well when Viibryd first came out. My REAL doctor (not a nurse) suggested I RESEARCH it as an option. And believe me, there were a host of side effects listed on what was then a very new drug. I can't think of a single medication I've ever taken in my entire life that listed only a single side effect; yet we are supposed to believe that a psychotropic drug was released with only a GI issues listed as a potential problem?

It's like many others have stated: Drugs have side effects. And we're talking about a drug that is used to treat people with mental issues (and many that are physical) of unknown origin. Did you know there was a girl that died a few years ago from applying too much Ben Gay? Pepto Bismol can cause Salicylate poisoning... and death. And don't even get me started on how many people die or come close from taking Vitamin C. Drugs are a risk. We assume those risks everyday, yet someone acts surprised that - sure enough - that long list of warnings really meant something.

Does anyone have any issues with slowed down reaction time? I have been in a 3 car wrecks in the year that I have been on Viibryd, and before that - not one since the early 90s

Dose of Reality. A nurse in many cases is more knowledgeable than many doctors. A real doctor as you said can wind up killing you, so can a nurse. What troubles me the most is how you posted what sounds like an attack on a nurse. Perhaps reverting back and having a better upbringing will teach you how to communicate as an adult vs. being an attacking animal.

I had this side effect too. I'm 26 and was wondering why I hurt so bad. I mentioned it in passing, not even relating the two.Aren't we special.

I love how someone who has not suffered can express a jerk off opinion! You spend a year not being able to move and not a single doctor for almost a year can figure out what is causing this horrible inflammation and severe pain! I have been off vii for 6 months and I still have pain and swelling! I have lumps on the bottom of my feet and hands that can't grasp things on some days still!!!! So warning or not my life has been completely disrupted from this med I can't even work!!!!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Surely there's a nurse out there somewhere who knows more than any doctor and can get you fixed right up. Of course, that same nurse might also think you're naïve enough to believe that the only warning a drug like Viibryd originally listed was for an upset stomach.

And who says I never suffered any negative side effects from medication used to treat depression? I have. But I'm also conscientious enough to actually read about the issues BEFORE I start dumping stuff into my system. It's all a roll of the dice.

I also can't grasp. And the bottom of my feet hurt to walk on. My calves and thigh muscles in the morning are so tight, I look like a Herman Munster walking inthe mornings or after have road inthe car for anny amount of time. I guess like someone else commented, It was the roll of the dice! Never know what any kinda of medication can do. Good luck with everyone. Just just hope this is not permanent!

I too went off Viibryd ct......what a mistake!! I have had 90% of all the side effects here, unbelievable after taking 40mg daily for 4 months. The withdrawal is the worst! and I have withdrawn from Paxil in the past! Viibryd worked well for the first month (anxiety), then I stared getting dizzy and my memory was TERRIBLE!

I have been off Viibryd since Oct. 28th. I was still experiencing side effects until I did a Peroxide flush, and Started Chealation Therapy, My pain and dizziness is gone. My memory is getting better! I can't believe the side effects I had due to this med. And the fact they won't go away!

No. The side effects I'm experiencing are NOT listed on the website. My hair is falling out by them handful.. My doctor also told me nothing about this.. So w that being said, you take this drug.. Experience the terrifying feeling of sleep paralysis & lose your hair.. Than, go through withdrawal symptoms while you still take care of your family & run a business.. Let me know how you feel about it then.

I started having restless leg and leg aches last March. It turned out to be the statin I was taking for my high clorestrol. It took about three months (summer) for this leg pain to subside. With a totally new doctor, she prescribed Viibryd after I'd been taking Zoloft for years. I started out fine last Fall. But then I noticed my leg pain coming back, then hip pain, knees, shoulder and elbow pain. I can't even touch my elbows without wincing. The leg and hip pain get so bad at night, it wakes me up from sleep and it feels like someone plunged a knife into my leg! Awful! I couldn't figure out what was happening since I had stopped taking the statins. I started looking up rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, lupes and even fibramialgia because I really thought I had some crippling disease. I made an appointment with a new doctor for next week, but then I found this chat board on Viibryd. I feel so much better (I think) that my problem may be a side effect of the meds instead of a crippling disease or disorder. It sounds like more than 2% of us users are experiencing this side effect. I hope the pain will go away once I switch to something else. Does anyone have any experience of going off Viibryd and having the pain go away, or not? It would be the sh#ts to have to live with this joint pain going forward.

I have been on 40 mg of the antidepressant Viibryd since February of 2011 (within a month after FDA approval). Approximately 9 months ago I began experiencing pain and stiffness in my feet upon standing and walking after sitting or lying down for a period of time and most noticeably after a night's sleep. Over the course of the next 9 months the pain and stiffness spread to all of my joints. I also began to have muscle pain and weakness which progressed to the point that I was unable to open bottles and jars. During this same nine month period I gradually became more and more fatigued. Walking up one flight of stairs to my apartment was an effort and I often felt out of breath and dizzy upon reaching the top of the stairs. I could no longer take normal walks with my dog without feeling exhausted. It was around this time that I began experiencing episodes of blurred vision. I also noticed that my skin had become very dry and was developing little bumps. Then about 3 months ago I woke up one morning with red, flat, non-itching splotches all over me from the size of a dime to a quarter. I went to a dermatologist who was unable to determine the cause of what she called a "non-specific" rash. After one month most of the splotches faded and disappeared. Based on the symptoms I was experiencing my family doctor ran a series of blood tests. Everything came back normal. He could not find a cause for my symptoms. I felt hopeless. I was 56 years old and felt like 90. At this point a friend recommended I see a doctor who is regarded as a superb diagnostician. The first thing he did was recommend to my psychiatrist that I be taken off both Viiibryd and a new antidepressant for treating MDD named Brintillex (a serotonin modulator and stimulator) which I had been taking for 2 months. It was my diagnostician's opinion that I should not be on any seratonergic antidepressants and that I should instead exclusively be treated with dopamonergic antidepressants. Wellbutrin (450 mg) had been my base medication for almost 20 years and my diagnostician felt that I should continue with the Wellbutrin and add a new dopamonergic medication for treating Parkinson's and MDD called Azilect 10 days after stopping the Viibryd and Brintillex. With my psychiatrist's permission (after a lengthy discussion with my diagnostician) I stopped the Viibryd and Brintillex 8 days ago. At that time I was put on 25 mg of Lamictal and 25 mg of Seroquel (I assume to cushion the withdrawal from the Viibryd and Brintille. I begin taking Azilect two days from now.

What I can now report to all of you regarding the symptoms I've talked about having developed over the past 9 months that after stopping Viibryd and rthe ecently added Brintillex 8 days ago the pain in my joints has already significantly diminished. I have NO pain in my feet now. I can feel my muscle strength beginning to improve. And the fatigue has begun to ease. Now I have to tell you that my diagnostician wasn't sure what was causing all my symptoms. He wanted me off all seratonergic antidepressants because he strongly felt that any medication with seratonergic action was the wrong treatment for my MDD. But in removing the seratonergic drugs from my system the source of my symptoms was uncovered.

Viibryd was the undeniable cause of all the symptoms I have suffered from (and I mean SUFFERED from) over the last 9 months.
