Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

I did have some side effects at first (shortness of breath, twitches), but through working with my therapist I have found that a lot of this was all in my own head. I was so worried about side effects on Viibryd that I started to have them.

I have been on this medicine for about 6 weeks (began with the starter back and stayed at 20mg) and this medicine works great for me!!! I feel "normal" - I have motivation. I am not wanting to sleep all day. I crave social interactions.

I just wanted to say that if you decide to go off this medicine, or adjust the dose, please talk with your prescribing doctor/psychiatrist. If they are good they will work with you to figure out what is a good plan for you with this (or a different) medicine. And if they are not good go see someone else if you can.

After talking with my psychiatrist (who I think is amazing!) I feel a lot more confident in her abilities (compared to my regular doctor) to help me navigate my medicine intake - medicine is what they went to school for, so they should know their stuff.

Good luck everyone!

TO KROSTER ! I, too, am menopausal( 3 years into it). and was sick all the time ! Drs continued to put me on antidepressants for my symptoms which included fatigue, anxiety, depression, shaking, mood swings, nausea and dizziness, headaches, then most recently sweating and flashes which I did not have before....No antidepressant helped me at all, except for gaining weight...luckily, I am not a heavy person to begin with... I have been on cymbalta, celexa, prozac, and more, the last being Viibryd, which I swear, put me into the gutter, got more depressed than ever ! ...Finally, I deciced to see one more doc, my ob/gyn who suggested low dose HRT..(hormone replacement).,,I was terrified to try, totally against it, but figured I could not feel any worse, so I decided to try it with VERY low expectations...However; FOUR DAYS into it, yes, four days, I began to have energy, no more shaking, anxiety was better, and depression COMPLETELY went away.. I could not believe it !! I STILL CAN'T !! I am now on my second month dose and I feel like a brand new woman, no side effects whatsoever, no weight gain, still sweating a bit, but not like before...just letting you know that hormones can do a lot more damage and cause a lot more symptoms than you might think ! I am 55, and feeling wonderful !! Please talk to you OB/GYN... I am sorry I did not go sooner... Hope this helps ! Good luck !

Hi there, just posting an update on how Viibryd has been working for me...I'm two days away from a full prescription. Have been on the month long step up plan. At first, I experienced some anxiety, like the out of body kind, just for a couple of minutes each time, that went away with time, probably a couple of days after moving up to the 40mg. I also experienced the "loose bowels"...not too terrible, but definitely a side effect. That also went away. Now, it seems as though all side effects have subsided and just the calm happy remains...I was scared to start this in the first place because of the negative feedback that I saw on the different forums, but if you're really looking for an answer to an anti-anxiety/depressant that doesn't make you gain weight and doesn't have the awful sexual side-effects, this is the one, you just have to be prepared to go through a month of potentially unsavory conditions. It's definitely worth it, though :)

Best of luck to you all!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to give my 2 cents on Viibryd. I love it! It has changed my life! I am a 33 year old male.
I have been on Paxil, Celexa, Lexapro, and Effexor. Paxil was great but I had 0.0% sex drive, but hey, at least I was happy about it! Lol. I was actually happy about everything negative or positive, so more like borderline Manic. Celexa just sucked for me. It did nothing. Effexor made me feel like I was going crazy, which I may be OCD but I am not crazy! Ha
Lexapro was the half-ass drug for me. It sort of helped with depression, kind of helped with anxiety, mad me feel sorta kinda okay, but who wants that?

Viibryd makes me feel, well vibrant! I feel alive, and feel like myself again, the old me before depression and anxiety. I have been on Viibryd for quite some time now, over a year at least. There are almost no sexual side effects, at least for me, which is a must. Marriages do not work without that connection. My recommendation: Try it! But it is really powerful, so don't be afraid to tell your doctor if you think the dose is too high. When I went up to 40mg I stopped being able to sleep well. I went back down to 20 and I feel fine.
Just my 2 cents!
Thanks everyone,
Jay

Ok so I have been on viibryd for over a month ,and I would have to totally agree with you joe about stepping up slower on the vii, I can tell you this medicine is not to be toyed with, but coming off of a high dose of celexa to a low dose of viibryd was hard! read my posts further down you can see my progress just by reading them , slowly getting better each time , yes a doctor should tell you if you should ever cut pills , but all it takes is one call, and in my case that's exactly what he told me to do, last week he upped me to 40mg but I decided to cut them to 30mg , ill start 40 next week and this has honestly been the best idea and made me wish that I had steped up that slowly to begin with, maybe the side effects would not have been so traumatic , at one point I was seriously going to stop all meds all together , it was very scary and overwhelming , not to mention the worsening of depression, but as an update obviously I am feeling much better since I have stared 30mg and am glad i did not stop!I still have to take ADHD medication to have energy but yesterday I went without pretty fine , I'm basically testing myself to see where my physical boundaries lie with this stuff. A word of advice : I have been through it ALL with this drug and I can say it is one hell of a drug at that, never have I experienced such side effects , not to mention I am 23 and 105 lbs, but I am beginning to feel glad I did , it's hard to believe after reading many blogs with very negative feedback about this drug could turn any one away , but stick with it ! It's mind over matter always !

You know our body is one heck of a container of highly complex chemicals. It changes with what we eat and drink. It changes on Vit & Min too. Any drug can produce side effects or take longer to work or only work with the right dosage. That is the variable from each person. You are you! This is your body chemistry dealing with a new set of molecules entering the system. I like really your courage and fortitude to tough it out. I sense you may be much more determined to win this effort than you give yourself credit. You are winning it seems! The effort is paying off. Reward yourself in some way. Do something soon that you know you enjoy--whatever it is! You deserve it. My best.

Never had those symptoms and have not seen similar complaints since been here posting since last May. The hair loss is coming from something, and maybe Vii. But it can be strictly nerves too. Sugar is a killer anyway for many people, can trigger Diabetes Type Two which you do not want to have triggered. Got to stay away with most possible from sweets. Got to take more protein and fiber and low cal foods. It is very serious business to get well with Depression/Anxiety and not let that condition get the best of you. I suffered a lot and fought this battle to the max and have been winning for the first time in years. Vii has been a lifesaver for me. Now, the next thing for me is that I want to go off of it later this year, but I know my Dr will disagree. Wants me to be on it for 3-5 years. That is hard to swallow as required, but I will keep an open mind.

I have had nightmares if I forgot a dose or if I napped and didn't take viibryd at the same time as the day before. There are some wicked side effects w/ Viibryd but I have to say that the positives outweigh the negative.

Please hang in there. I had the same side effects but if you can hang in there for a about 3 more weeks, you will start to improve. I've been on Viibryd for about 5 months or so and feel better than I have in a very long time. The first 3 months were awful!! HANG IN THERE!

I've been taking it since May. I feel great! My depression is pretty much gone. I do experience anxiety from time to time, but it's not as intense. The only thing that bothers me is the weight gain. It's not listed as a side effect, but from what I can see, I'm not the only one. I hope it helps you!

I agree. My dilemma is that Viibryd has saved my life, but the side effects ... Well, isn't that why we're trolling these forums/ fora(?) ? I've tried other meds, with varying success and side effects. Telling others that drug x or drug y is BAD could actually hurt someone. Ultimately, it's a journey finding the right medicine, and a patient doc who'll work with you and not force you to stick with one medicine. I'm truly happy for anyone who has found the right medication that wirks for them :-)

Viibryd is the only medication that had ever worked for me. It's amazing. It saved my life. Only side effect I experience is some muscle twitching when I'm tired.

Okay so I started on Viibryd at the end of Sept 2014. At first it was like a miracle drug and I gelt wonderful this was on the 20mg.....then as I increased to the 40mg I started falling asleep even at time I should have which caused some embarrassment for me. So I contacted my dr and she informed me to try it a little longer so I did. It has been about 2 mos now and I have been on the 40mg and it is awful.....I have been experiencing pain in arm, leg everywhere like I have been beat.....so I go to the dr and they ran some lab to see if I have inflammation which is a ANA diagnostic and I did it came back positive so now they are wanting to send me to a Rheumatologist to see if I have Lupus.....so the dr recommended one more diagnostic and again the ANA came back positive.....so she scheduled me to see a Rheumatologist at the end of Dec.....so here I am scared to death that I have this disease.....but not one of my doctors think it is this Viibryd.....I contact my dr and say I think this med is to much for me and I would like to get off of it......she drops me down to 20mg but still not a sole is believing me that it could be this Viibryd....so I have decided that I am getting off this med and if this is how I am going to feel being on a anxiety pill then I don't ever want to be on one again.....so still no one believes me so I start doing my own research and realize that this med have caused joint pain, bone inflammation and more.....so to me this is why the ANA has come back positive but again no one else thinks so.......so I have decided I am not going to a Rheumatologist and I am not taking this med ever again once I get off of it....help has this happened to anyone else?????? Last week I started having these off the wall crazy dreams almost like I was hallucinating and that is what did it for me I hate this drug.......I may be the 2-3% experiencing this but this is awful I would not recommend this to anyone and this is only being on it for a few months. Just looking for some advice please.........

I see that this discussion is pretty old, but I just wanted to contribute. I started Viibryd in August of 2016 after trying a number of other medications without success. I finally had a genetic test done called Genesight. It revealed that Viibryd would be a good choice for my metabolism. Due to my fear related to past experiences with medication, I started out at only 5 mg. I eventually reached the therapeutic dose of 40 mg in October. By the end of that month I could feel my anxiety subsiding and my depression lifting. Now, in January 2018, I am feeling fabulous. I can honestly say I have never felt so well in my enire life. The only issue I had early on was sleep paralysis and nightmares, but when I switched from taking it before bedtime to taking it with breakfast, that has completely subsided. My anxiety and depression are COMPLETELY gone.

I had a better night last night, although I woke up at 4am again, just not hungry like I was before. I didn't have much trouble going back to sleep, so I think I'll keep trying to take my wellbutrin during the day, and the viibryd in the evening for balance. i'm also on topamax and i'm going to try to take all 100mgs of that in the evenings since it makes me really loopy and sleepy, perhaps it will knock me out enough to keep me from waking up at 4am again. so far no headache today so that's good, and less of a fog feeling, also less anxiety, feel more calm. yesterday my heart was racing a bit and i was worried i might be getting a bit manic but i didn't. husband was disappointed cuz he really likes the "crazy sex", but i'd prefer not to end up in the hospital for a week again.

Going into day 7 and so far, so good. I do feel a little bit better already, although I don't know if it's the Viibryd itself or the "blah factor" from the Cymbalta wearing off. We'll see, I guess. Wonder what the jump to 20mg will be like. I also take Vyvanse for ADHD and it seems like the Viibryd is prolonging the efficiency of the Vyvanse. (I hope so, because I am maxed out at 70mg of Vyvanse and it was starting to lose its effect too quickly.) I will say that I'm with LS...thank God for my Xanax! I have felt a little more on edge the past few days, but just a little dose of Xanax takes care of that and I feel pretty darn good. = ) LS, I know what you mean about driving. I sometimes become overwhelmed by the fear that someone is going to hit me and I either creep along or pull over completely. I have GAD and people always ask me how I can drive/function on Xanax every day. I have to tell them that there are often times that I can't drive/function WITHOUT it. And thanks everyone for posting! Keep it up, because it sounds like we are all kind of "guinea pigs" with this.

i had to go cold turkey off the zanax, and that truly sucked more balls than a bingo machine. right about the time withdrawal hit, they released me (1st day spent coming out of a drug stuppor induced by a bottle of zanax chased with a bottle of adderall....i was manic, but really calm about it; day 2 spent trying to fend off the 300lb 18yo resident "hugger" who kept creeping into my room to "say hello"; day 3 spent trying to convince a panel of doctors that I'm not crazy, but the drug cocktail they had just put me on was making my ears ring, so I also wanted to know if they heard the bells too...; day 4 was spent trying to convince my husband that if I come home, I'll be a good girl and not go snacking in the medicine cabinet again...so they let me out). So I do envy those of you that can still take those neat little blue chill pills, although I suppose I should be happy that I get a steak knife at dinner and shut up about it.

I'm still doing the Welbutrin and Viibryd together, splitting the dosages between morning and evening. I think I'll try taking them both in the morning because I honestly feel no difference as far as my energy level goes, and trying to remember them gets tedious especially since linear thinking isn't really my bag. The muscle cramps are gone, I'm still hungry more than usual, and...well, this might be TMI, but I'm a bit backed up, if you know what I mean. And not just eat-a-few-prunes-and-read-a-mag kinda backed up either...more like, I-wish-this-ficking-toilet-bowl-had-handlebars kinda backed up. If something doesn't give in the next day, I'll have go last resort...thai food and ky jelly. Anywho....

I'll update on the progress, perhaps not in so much detail, but I am hopeful that this combo is able to balance me out without snuffing out the parts of my personality that make me, me. I've been on everything, and nothing is worse than slogging through the day in a grey, joyless, numb stuppor. I won't say it's worse than the crushing depression, but it's not far off.

Oh my....

I was just looking over the Rx drugs that I take and yikes! I'm surprised I haven't fallen over from seretonin syndrome yet.

Viibryd
Adderall (although I'm not using this everyday)
Wellbutrin XL
Topamax

Does anyone else think I should be looking for parts of my kidneys next time I use the potty?
