Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

Hi Teresa, I have been taking for about 20 days at 10mg. Each time I went up to something more I became super spacey and very irritable. I will go up to 20mg eventually, but right now i am trying to get completely comfortable with the 10mg. The 10mg dose has helped me, but I definitely feel like I could use the larger dose. I'm just not comfortable with the increase in irritability and spacey feeling. For me, it will be baby steps.

So, to answer your question, it has helped, but i am nursing my way into this. I don't take any other medications.

Hi Teresa,

I used to take Effexor XR for roughly 10 years. I suffer from depression and I'd say I'm still in the process of feeling better. I know everyone says this, but give it time. I am by no means where I need to be, but I do feel better :). How long have you been taking Viibryd? Okay, I hope this helps! Remember, you can, and will, get through this!

Update on my hair loss -- I started taking vitamins about a month ago plus biotin & folic acid. My hair loss has all but stopped! I also think what I lost is growing back in. I am feeling pretty good on the Viibryd/Buspar combo. I'm handling stress much better and don't feel that little cloud hanging over me so much. I'm going to start looking for a new job soon. I think that will help tremendously. Again, I hope you all find the right treatments so you can enjoy life to the fullest!

Thanks SO much for the update Empressou! I'm glad to hear it is working out for you. Hey, how long would you say you have been on it, and about how long until it was working really well for you? Also, if you don't mind, are you on 20mg, 40mg? I think some of us could use a little encouragement :). Thanks in advance!

I have always spoken neg. about Vii, becuz of the SP & discontinuation syndrome I endured. BUT! (& I've said this b4, if it works for you, then imo stay on it). Here's why.

Viibryd did lower my libido after 1 mo. but nothing like what Prozac & Cymbalta (or past Zoloft) has done to me.

Viibryd gave me so much energy that my walls were slowly getting painted. The Wellbutrin that I was on though, helped me w/ my ADD in feeling focused, but *unsure* if it made my organizational skills any better or worse. Hoarding??? (to sell things)

To get off of the Vii in Spring 2012, I had to take Prozac. Off & on w/ that & then Cymbalta & suddenly I am 30 lbs. heavier. WTH?!

I've had no desire nor energy to do much of anything since Prozac & Cymbalta. And smartphone addiction to games like candy crush have been my demise. I've since stopped playing that game, but have found another to feed my addiction of mental relaxation.

I have to work extra hard to focus & get things done, but am limited physically (other reasons). Libido is better on Cymbalta, btw. But still do not care for normal everyday hugs. Sleep is my #1 friend on Cymbalta & I can feel my muscles wasting away. I've been slowly weaning off of Cymbalta for weeks. It works so well w/ Fibro pain (if that's what i have?) completely sad that I have to live in constant pain to just function.

And that's where I am at. I like how SRNI's work...and that's basically what Vii is. So lastly, for now, know that Cym. is a great alternative to Vii, but if you don't have any physical conditions, watch your sweet tooth. :P Exercise.

CYM. worked best for GAD....I still had anx. on Vii. But my husband is tired of my sleeping patterns. :( And I am tired of missing out on life.

Maybe someone here will have an answer. I wish I could get off the Xanax too, but still needing 1-3 .25/day. I have noticed the GAD OCD thoughts since weaning off CYM.

:(

Sorry, folks, that I haven't been posting lately. Major surgery one week ago today, and everything went much more smoothly than it had when I used an MAOI. So the primary motivation for switching to Viibryd was a success (Yay!). About one week before the surgery, was feeling some improvement in affect, especially in the afternoons, but still lots of low times. My Dr's response to that info was to increase my dosage from 20 to 30 mg/day. It seems to be working, and better than any med from the long list and long period preceding. It's been 8 weeks since 1st dose. I'll know more when pain meds are far behind and December, January and February wait outside my front door. I have hope for a better life, especially for letting my natural life runs its course instead of insisting that I withdraw from it. Another encouragement is reading the valiant struggles so many of you are making to win against our Insidious Enemy Illness. Keep up the struggle, and keep posting!

I've been on Viibryd since January. Started on 20 mg and Dr increased to 40 mg in July. Doc told me 40 mg is the highest recommended dosage and that's why she added Buspar to mix b/c she didn't feel comfortable increasing the Vii dosage to over the recommended. I felt nauseous and spacey for the first 2 weeks, then symptoms went away. I finally feel what I think is normal. Don't give up on Vii unless you're on 40 mg for more than a month. If you're still not feeling better, then maybe Vii isn't for you. Good luck!

How bad were you feeling before viibryd

@raven: It makes sense. Thank you! I took the Viibryd for 5 days. Literally had 2 of the most vivid and scariest dreams. Not nightmares per say, but more like murdering people and it was all so real. I never had thoughts or dreams like that and it was har to fall asleep and stay asleep. When I finally fell asleep, it would be the deep REM. Then if wake up every 2 hrs or so. Went to work late every morning!! I stopped the Viibyrd and eventually stopped the Vyvanse but needed to get back on that. Went to the NP and she upped my vyvanse and gave me Pristiq which is pretty much like Effexor. She mentioned that Adderall seems to be inconsistent. Sometimes working well other times not which is why Vyvanse was created. I am feeling much much better. BP still high than my normal, but not worrisome. Thank you ALL for the help. I've gained a lot by reading this chat. I wish you all the best and a safe holiday.

Theresa,

Lol...people are posting and you keep asking the same repetitive ?'s. What are wishing to hear? Because in the 5000+ Vii posts I've read online, the nightmares & sleep paralysis are mentioned 98% of the time.

I hope to hear that it works cause I'm desperate for relief

@ Theresa -- it took about 3 weeks for me to feel relief on Vii. After about 6 mos the doc had to increase my dosage to 40mg. I've been feeling pretty good for 4 mos now. My new doc says if you don't feel betting on one med, sometimes it's best to combine them. Maybe you should talk to your doc about that approach. I still get down once in a while, but I can tell the difference between that and the debilitating depression I was feeling. Hope you feel better soon.
