My experience with Viibryd withdrawal was nearly identical. I developed serotonin sickness syndrome on it and was told to stop taking it cold turkey at 40mg.

So I did. It 's been a hellacious eight days.

BE ALERT, folks ... psy docs and np's don't always know the ins and outs!

Ive been on it for about 4 months, and it has been the first of many thats worked for me, I havnt had any noticable hairloss or any extreme sides with the vibryd like others here. I take vibryd with Mirtazaphine (remeron). I feel great, however, if I miss a dose of the Vybryd, I can definately tell. Its been a great med for me. You just hav 2 find what works 4 u.

Hello, I stop Viibryd cold turkey 8 days ago, so far no side effects, or may I say the side effect is no more side effects? like very bad stomach problems like gas, mild nausea and diarrhea, acid reflux, coughing, sinus infections, colds, insomnia, manias, weridest scary dreams (I usually dream like "sci-fi movies" which I love but this was just too much horror) some times I think I saw "things"
I'm not so sure about hair loss as I have always had that problem, but looks like indeed I saw more in the shower floor, 3 people at the store and gas station told me I had pretty hair in the same week, but I've been dying it with henna which it really makes it healthier shinny and stronger
I just had a headache like the first two evenings and crying, I still can cry for everything since I know myself, but the meds would supress that so I guess is ok

After the very bad time I went through when the Doc changed me from lexapro cold turkey to Viibryd, I though I was not gonna make it going cold turkey with Vii but so far I believe that I don't really need more meds, I pray God I can controll myself and so far this past week I did ok even when my 2 little kids were in a very bad mood after having Thanksgiving week break and they didn't want to go to sleep/wake up in the morning and they were tired and yelling me for everything and I was not going crazy, unbelievable! I think I can make it, Lexapro was good for a while, I thank God for it, but it just started to give me problems and Vii was worst, I guess I won't even miss the extreme libido as my DH doesn't care about sex, I just realized that I haven't though about sex anymore this past week like while on Vii, it was driving me crazy like if I was happy for wanting all the time to have sex (which I was not getting anyway) it was giving me a false strenght and happiness, it was like I didn't mind about problems, sounds nice but that is not the reality

I really hope and wish all of you living with depression that you can find the proper med that makes worth living instead of more problems, depression and anxiety are really illnesses and some Doctors don't take it seriously, if you see your doc doesn't care, find another, and another, there are nice docs out there that really care about helping their patients

Hi!
Maybe you already have read my account of the incredible hair loss that I have had since taking Viibryd.
People on here don't want to believe it, but I would bet
that it they continue on it, they too will see the piles of
hair in the sink (coming out at the root).
Viibryd is THE ONLY thing that could be causing this to
happen to me. Today was the 1st day that I did not take
any----I have taken myself off over the course of 16 days. My hair has thinned out horribly. I can only hope
that it will recover.

I reported the extreme hair loss to Forest Pharm.
I am taking my envelopes of hair to my Pdoc tomorrow
so that he can see first-hand the devastation of my
once beautiful hair----in just two months I went from having people comment on how pretty my hair was to
asking what is happening to my hair. The rate of fallout
is totally unbelieveable.
Please, anyone else experiencing this---report it to
Forest Pharm and the FDA

Melanie, I dont know if this would be helpful to you or not, but my Dr. prescribed Remeron which isnt a seretonin uptake med but rather a class 2 receptor anti depressant. The sides are deep sleep and appetite increase. For me it did increase my appetite, however, I eat good food rather then junk so weight gain hasnt been an issue for me. I take my vybrid in the morning after a meal, and the remeron at night and diazapan (valium) I sleep well and feel rested. This is the first combination of meds that has worked 4 me. The 2 Vybrid, remeron really seem to balance eachother for me and has pulled me out of major depression. I know its a fine science and what works for one dosent always work for another. But when your really depressed, life is just sheer hell. Life is finnaly worth living. And if you can make it through the torment you become a stronger person.

Started Viibryd on the 15th after taking Cymbalta for about 10 years and I have not had more than 3-4 hours sleep since. I am needing to switch over because of the nuero side effects of Cymbalta--toes and feet numb all the time--My doctor had me start with the 40 mg instead easing into it which I concerns me after reading the many posts here--he had me quit the Cymbalta cold turkey--but I have sense decided that I should ease in to it as directed on the sample pack. The first thing I noticed on Tuesday was my skin tingling and my sense of touch is so much more sensitive than it has been in years. Yesterday after taking a 10 mg on empty stomach and meeting a friend for breakfast, she mentioned that I was acting all "manic"--I had energy and I know I was talking like the energizer bunny. I noticed last night that my libido seems more heightened--this is a good thing, but my main concern is the lack of sleep. Will these negative side effects subside ANY as time passes? I will be calling my doctor and pharmacist tomorrow to ask more questions because I can't go to spend week with family over holiday a raving manic. Know what I mean?

Hello, I've been on Vii for 2 months, coming from Lexapro which I used for 4y but stop working and was giving me shortness of breath that turned in panic attacks, Vii was giving me very bad GI gas bloating, but sex libido came back like crazy and plenty of energy (Im 40y woman) and I thought lexapro was awesome yeah if you want to spend your time in bed... sleeping

Anyway after taking the prilosec 2 days and having gross nausea and feeling so bad and really believing I was suffering of acid reflux I stop and the gas went away (he gave me the prilose cuz I got sick with cough and a cold for 2 weeks then again with bad cough for another week) the diarrhea also went away but now my periods come earlier and I can't take Advil with Vii, this month I got ovarian cyst pain in the middle of the month which made me think cuz I had that problem 2 years ago and I control it with diet and I haven't change anything and this time that my period came it started less heavier and I thought well maybe Vii is helping, but at the fourth day when it was supposed to end I woke up with a sharp and very bad pain on the ovary and I started a fever and shaking shivering, it was awful, I spend all day with fever but it stop at 7 after my last fever-tylenol, next day I was still a little lightheaded, that was Thu, today Sun I still have a little of discomfort but my period ended and I started googling and came to a forum about PTLS (Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome)

I've been suffering from depression and anxiety after my 2nd baby AND after a Tubal Ligation and then all the hormones, cysts problems and now I can relate those problems to my anxiety

The end of this is that Fri and Sat I have felt very sad, I could cry all day if I let myself (just from reading something sweet or even a cute tv commercial!) bad mood and Im afraid that was the end of Vii for me ( I was on 20mg as I couldn't stand the 40mg) I was liking the Vii cuz I was feeling very energetic, awesome mood and libido was great! Even when I had a cold a month ago I was like la la la happy and I didn't care, I was like lets get busy, but now I feel kinda depresed and very worried, I dread for my future and my mood is not so good and last night I had anxiety I had to take .5 xanax to calm down and to sleep (I usually just take .25 sometimes to sleep)

So my question here for the ladies, anyone with a Tubal Ligation?

Good luck to everyone with the Vii, it was nice, about the libido and energy, while it lasted, I'm gonna give it one more chance today, Tue we are driving to visit my Mother in Law, its a long trip so maybe that can help a little while I go to the doc next week, ah also my Doc is not a good one, he's the 5min- give another Rx bye bye type, so I gotta find another (We've been moving, so difficult to find a good Doc these days)

I was taking Viibyrd for about 3 weeks and I had to stop. It just made me feel bad . So my doctor put me on Wellbutron 150 2xday and and 2 mg of Ambilify . I do feel much better and have energy. I have been on this 2 weeks. I hope this helps.

I am on day 16 of Viibryd. I was given the starter pack (10mg for 7 days, 20 mg for 7 days and now up to 40 mg). At first it was going great. The nausea was gone and so was the dizziness. But now, on the 40 mg, I sometimes get headaches in the morning.

BUT the WORST side effect is shortness of breath. This is really scary for me because I start to panic and then it seems to get worse. I am hoping in a few days this will go away. I think I will start taking this in the evening a little before bed (shortness of breath is the worst a few hours after taking the Viibryd). Psychiatrist said I can take Viibryd any time of day.

**Anyone else have a shortness of breath side effect? I am kinda hoping I am not alone with this side effect.

I also noticed MAJOR hair loss. Am hoping it is temporary. Does anyone know? Went back on Lexapro for a month and hair loss stopped, but the sexual side effects returned.

There is a lysine suppliment. It is also useful in the treatment of herpes. I'll give it a try to save my hair!

I forgot about Evening Primrose Oil. It is suppose to work well for people with hair falling out. Just read, it would slow and then make hair grow within 2 months.

Also, this is from a thyroid article, but is true for every one,...deficient in iron and the amino acid lysine. Lysine is the most difficult amino acid to get enough of via diet. Lysine helps transport iron, which is the most important element in the body and essential for many metabolic processes. When lysine and iron levels are low, the body probably switches some hair follicles off to increase levels elsewhere. Meat, fish and eggs are the only food sources of lysine. There are also supplements that contain lysine.

Sorry you aren't doing that great!! I am loving this. I can drive again!! I take Wellbutrin, Vii, and Xanax...seems to be the right go together for me. Tried going off the Well, but that didn't work. I take 350 of the Well, am on 40 of the Vii, and .5mg xanax up to 3 times a day. The generic Well isn't as good as the real thing, but my insurance won't cover anything but the generic. It can't hurt to try it. That is one drug that at least for me and most I know have had no problems with.

I have read this on other forums and I think someone on here had the same problem. I can't tell, I have thyroid issues, so my hair falls out anyway..It is a side effect for some. Good luck!!! Maybe Google is and see if anyone has a solution.

Just finishing up my 2nd month on 40mg of Viibryd. Honestly, I don't feel like it's that much of an improvement. (I was on Cymbalta before.) My doc just added a low dose of Depakote to it, twice a day. We'll see how that goes. Of course, a lot of my psyc problems are situational, so it's kinda hard to say...

Question...does Wellbutrin give you a lift, so to speak? Does it give you more energy to make it through the day? Seems like I tried it once very briefly and it did. It was nervous energy, but in my case - I have an 8yo and a 4yo to keep up with! - any energy is better than fighting the battle of my body wanting to sleep all day.

I am off V . I just could deal with it anymore. I am now on Wellbutron 2xd and Abilify2mg 1xd. I am doing ok. I am starting to feel somewhat normal again.

It treated me like any other SSRI.. I tried it for the lessened sexual side effects, Did not work me. No big deal, I'm used to this. Be prepared for a 2-3 days of G.I. upset. If longer than that, call your doctor. Stay with it and good luck. The research in this stuff looks good...it could work well for you.
