Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

Vii is close in formula to lexapro, but has another ingredient so that you are in effect two SSRI type of meds in one pill. I was on lexapro, and I did not find it as effective as I wished, but I did not go to the max dose to find out if it would really work to the max for me.
On the sexual side effect, for a guy, it is tough on these SSRIs in my age group, age 63, to achieve sexual climax. Thankfully I have a very understanding wife who can deal with the ramifications of such drugs.
These SSRIs are given to young guys for premature climax, and so that is why they are tough on us older guys, who kind of wish we were like the young guys in stead--lol.
This Vii is still the best one I have found for the ultimate results for fighting back on D&A. I am at 30 mg and no side effects with symptoms, except a bit of joint pain in two fingers.
All I know is life is much better with such drugs than trying to live and cope witih D&A through other means. It is hard to imagine how people in other countries, 3rd world, for example, that don't have access or money for such drugs, where they just have to suffer.
I am much more empathetic now for such D&A conditions having to go through the conditions myself. I never thought in my younger years this would be the result in my senior life. Such is life and it is just necessary to accept it and cope anyway. Good luck with getting good results.

I had a Terri or experience in this drug. It felt like I was being struck by lightening from the top of my head town to my toes every time I laid down to go to sleep, and it was painful! Just as I was about to drift off, a huge painful jolt would hit. It would make me sit up and gasp for air. It was very scary. That lasted about four nights after bein on it for two months without any issues. After four night of painful, scary jolts, I talked to my do for about tapering off of it. He had me cutting the pills and tapering off over 30 days. I had vertigo the first two weeks. It literally felt like I was on a boat 24 hours a day for two weeks. It was odd how I got used to it. After that two weeks the vertigo subsided and I didn't really have any more adverse side effects, but I continued to taper off slowly for two more weeks. I've been on several antidepressants over the last 15 years and I've experienced little brain zings. This is nothing like those. This literally feels like someone is taking an electric metal rod and stabbing you straight down the top of your head. True pain that brought tears. Partly from fear. I read many other posts of people experiencing this and that this side effect, although painful and scary, is not dangerous or harmful to your body or your health, and they do get better and go away.

I had a similar experience, except it wasnt painful. Right before I would drift off I would experience a flash of light and a stange feeling that went from my head to my stomach. I would hearthe sound of electricity.it jolted me awake many times. Anytime I would become sleepy this would happen.I'm now tapering off of this drug very slowly.I'm very angry because I want this poison out of my system, but its out of my control.I can't just stop taking it because of the horrible, debilitating discontinuation symptoms. my body is addicted, yet theses drugs cant be labeled as addictive. This is so WRONG

Steph and Lauren, so sorry to hear that you had these strange withdrawal symptoms. I have had some brain zaps but nothing like that! I continue to be amazed at how large this thread has become and how bad the withdrawals can get.
I'm on my 9th day of Viibryd and I'm 2 days without Celexa and so far just one minor brain zap and a weird whooshing in my ears yesterday. Continue to talk to your doctors about these side effects! There has to be something that can be done about this.

I've been dealing with the side effects for a year, just tolerating themwith them.I told my dr about the strange sensations I have when I become tired and he told me to discontinue viibryd. I dread getting tired, I dread sleep because of this.I hate this med

One person's poison is another person's miracle. Only after being on Viibryd for close to 2 1/2 or so weeks have I suddenly felt motivated to get so much done around my home, interested in my hobbies again, planning for my future again - I'd been on a sinking ship after the Cymbalta quit working last fall, and my doc kept me on it "to make sure" it really wasn't working. I knew w/o a doubt, this summer that it was NOT working when I didn't even want to write (I am a writer) or take care of my home anymore. Viibryd has given me back my motivation, feeling "normal", I even picked up my guitar after 6 years and am re-learning to play!

So again, it is a poison to some, but to peeps like Joe and I, it has given us our lives back. Very sorry to hear it doesn't work for some of you. I wish it did, it's hard to describe how much my mental quality of life has perked up, and I am not having any noticeable side effects now that I am on 30mg. No more zaps either so that is awesome!

Yes Kay, I bet so many are getting good results, but this forum would bring out the people with troubles and concerns.
In my years of work, I had a great deal of exposure to people taking all of the SSRIs since Prozac started. By and large, the vast majority reported to me improvements, and yeah, certain side effects which typically subside.
Because I had a great deal of exposure with people on SSRIs, when my time came, I had a lot of hope but tripidation too. As I have said before, Vii has worked the best for me in comparison to the others in the past. But also my life situation is different where I have less day to day stressors, which can be a factor in giving me a good experience.
I am remaining hopeful that this med will continue to work and I do have the option to increasing the dose if need be.
BTW, it is very excellent to do fun things and get out, get some sun, go to the beach, or park, play with children, whatever, to do things that were previously enjoyable in life. Belong to a gym, or work out too is great, even if just home exercises. It is equally important to do the actual self help activities at home or elsewhere to fight off D&A.
There are also some foods that are high in seratonin, that can be helpful. Flax oil or seed powder and omega 3 pills are good for the nervous system Take a mega Vit B that has all of the B vitamens too. Costco has a good one that is a decent price. These are just a few of the tricks I have found to be helpful. Good luck all!

Hi Kay I was really happy to read your post, as my life had become just like yours..I am on it now for 2 weeks, some side effects but I can handle them. After being on many meds for 20 plus years I do feel like i\I'm getting my life back, and I'm starting little by little to getting stuff done around the house. I am so sorry for the people with the bad side effects. But for me this may be my miracle:) Thanks for your post...Again everyone give it a chance it may give you your life back:)

Yes! The flash of light and sound of electricity when getting those jolts is exactly what I experienced too! The sound was loud. It was so strange. And only when just drifting off to sleep. It was horrible. I was so tired and just when I'd reach that blissful moment of drifting away, BZZZZZZZZ!!!! Loud noise, flash of light, and an electic jolt straight down from the top of my head. It was frightening.

Donna, so glad to hear from another person that it is working for them. I am up to 40 mg now and doing fantastic. I just need to keep up on my walking every morning, journaling and deep breathing/taking breaks. I slacked off on that and could tell the difference!!

It really matters, to take care of yourself and not just expect the pill to do all the work. You still have to make an effort!! Viibryd has given me the kick in the butt to get up and GO haha!

Cheers everyone!

Kay I'm still at the 20mg, I want to go to 30mg but I feel sick to my stomach for about 3 hours after I take it, has this happened to you? Either way I want to go to 30mg I need some energy so bad. What time do you take the pill?

As to excercise I do a little at home, but I average about 5 migraines a week, and can't even go for walks:(

Thanks for your info I need all I can get:)

Take with more food and/or a lot of water. It would make sense to take any other over the counter meds to settle down the stomach too. It ought to go away in a very short number of days. I am on 30 mg and no side effects of import. Drug is working best of the SSRIs I have had to be on in the last 14 years.

Thanks Joe I'm hoping once I'm at 30mg I feel much better, after being on so many different meds throughout the years, I just want this one to work. Fighting agaist my migraines always makes for more side effects with new meds. Still hoping for the best, and thrilled that it's working great for some people!!

I started taking this 3 months ago... It took bout 11 days b4 I stated to feel normal again... And my pain level has dropped from a 10 plus to some days almost no pain at all. Drink lot of water. I took lexapro too but the viibryd had less side affects. I had side effects when I got to the full 40mg so I went down to 20mg and I feel better.

Donna, I eat a high protein breakfast and then take the pill in the morning in the middle of the meal. This really helps metabolize the pill so it works properly. I also take a thyroid med that needs to be taken on an empty stomach, so I take that when I wake up, then eat breakfast an hour later with my other meds including the viibryd. Hope that helps.

I do not recommend this drug to anyone, and I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy, (including my ex husband!). My doc wants me to try Viibryd, but Ive been reading all the comments about nausea and Im scared to try it, but Im not sleeping at night and I need to try something, I wish I never ever took any of these meds at all! I would give the Klonopin a little more time. I have taken it for 23 years (!!!). Over the years, I have been put on every anti-depressant on the market hoping to switch over from the Klonopin, didn't work. In November of last year I was diagnosed with MDD. I was dreading trying another anti-depressant, but I have been on the Viibryd (along with the klonopin) for about a month now and I think it is amazing. I had the usual side-effects in the beginning, but nothing like those of other medications. I think we have a winner here folks!!

I've been weaning myself off very slowly over the past.3 weeks. I started out at 40 & now I'm down to 25 mg of viibryd, of course I have to cut the pills. I'm feeling better than I have in a VERY long time.my mind is no longer in a fog, my memory is already improving. im amazed at how good I feel compared to 3 weeks ago .

Hi all, I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. I've now taken Viibryd for a month. I haven't gotten any more migraines, but the stomach issue continues to be a problem. I was on vacation the last 5 days and had issues 2 hours after I took the Viibryd every day, which really put a damper on my trip. I get cramps and then need to find a bathroom right away. I take the 20mg with my main meal of the day but it doesn't seem to matter.
I still don't know how I feel on this drug. I have very vivid dreams and some of them are bad dreams - really bizarre, negative images. It's very strange. My anxiety is good, though, and I haven't needed to take any Xanax or Klonopin for anxiety in crowds like I had to do with Celexa. The brain zaps finally stopped (I weaned off of Celexa 40mg). Also, I am not sleepy with this medication, and in fact find myself alot more alert and awake, and wanting to do alot more instead of stay in bed all day during the weekends, so that is good. Anyway, I wanted to post to let everyone know how things were going now that I've been on it for a month. I hope the stomach issues go away - that part sucks. Good luck to you all.
