Going to start it tomorrow. Anyone else taking it, and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!

Well gonna try to post again. I don't understand why my post had to go througjh the moderator. Some of you may need to check your thyroid. Many of you have all the symptoms......

No problems with hair falling out from the Vii....but just to make sure, yall may need to get thyroid checked. Stress and different meds can effect it. Course yall know that I have been on it since 7/15/2011. I am hypo/hashi also. If you do get your thyroid test. Most likely they will only go by the tsh test, unless you get a good doc. Make sure they do an antibodies test (for hashimotos autoimune disease), free t3 and free t4, and the tsh. If you tsh is over 1.5 to 2....then you do have hypothyroid problems. Though most docs go by normal, which could go up to 5. They have changed it to 3 most places. But insist and look up all the info you can. Many people have thyroid problems they don't know about, and hair falling out is a big symptom....along with tiredness and weight gain....

I've been on Viibryd for about 7-8 months and no weight gain for me.

My hair is coming out all over but you can really tell upfront. My ponytail is half the size that it used to be.

It is crazy how meds affects everyone so differently... I agree about the side effects being really bad to give it up... and a few pounds would not bother me, but if I keep adding weight like I have that would be an unbearable side effect for me... if it stops at just 10 lbs. I'm OK... but as it is I have to buy some new clothes... we'll see how it goes... not giving up on it!

Just goes to show how differntly these meds work on diffrent people. I am losing weight. But the side effects will have to get unbearable for me to give Viibryd up. It works wonders on my depression. In the past, I have used it for just a few weeks, start tapering down and stop. This normally keeps the depression at bay for months.

Anyone else have trouble with weight gain on Viibryd?? I've never been very sensitive to weight gain with other meds... but I seem to have put on 10 lbs. in 3 weeks... and my stomach is so bloated, I look 6 mos. pregnant. I also take Lamictal... could it be the combo? They say Viibryd shouldn't interfere with weight gain... I'm going to be really bummed if I find something that works for me mentally/emotionally only to have to quit because it makes me grow 3-4 sizes and I can't fit into any clothes! :(

carol--you mentioned hair loss--which i don't recall seeing as a side effect in the literature, but today i was coloring my hair and i don't know if i'm imagining that my hairline looks like it's receding! where did you see the loss? initially i thought it wasn't happening as i haven't noticed any extra hair coming off, but now i'm worried...

JMB,
I am sorry that you have had such a horrible time on Viibryd and I hope you find something that works for you. You need to remember that not everyone reacts the same to medication. I have been on everything imaginable & Viibryd is the only one that has ever worked. It gets rid of my depession within days. It has been a life saver for me. It is much better to share your experience and not go on a crusade against Vii. It could be a life saver for someone else too.

...i initially thought it was okay--but lately it seems that it is affecting me as a stimulant (which is UNACCEPTABLE--i can't even drink 2 cups of coffe without wanting to crawl out of my skin). i figured since they are not time-released, i could break them in two, but i don't know what to do. just changed doctors--one from a short-term program, and one that is useless--and my next appointment with a prescriber isn't until august 1st... what to do, what to do???

I started feeling better after about 8-12 weeks. I only started splitting the dose maybe 3 weeks ago, but it has helped w/ the withdrawal and the light headedness I felt after first taking the 1 dose. My hair started falling out probably w/in the first 3months but seems to have gotten worse. Maybe the splitting the dose has contributed to that. Not sure. Anyway, I feel great emotionally and really hate to stop taking it, but it's that or I'll be bald :-/

Thanks for the tip Carol... I am going to start splitting the dose up now... how long was it when you started noticing more stability emotionally? and how long was it when you began noticing hair falling out? I just started 40 mg and seem to have no big side effects moving up... but have been feeling a bit anxious, but I'm not sure it's the meds... thanks

I've been on Viibryd for the past 2 years or so. Initially had very bad diarrhea, but my body adjusted and it went away. Wasn't really aware of other side effects until reading this form... noticed other things people were reporting but thought it had nothing to do with vii (e.g., memory loss). I plan on going off it soon. I do feel better but can't say it's because of the vii. I just don't believe in staying on these drugs for "the rest of your life."

After about 7-8 months of being on Viibryd, I am weening myself off. The worst side effect at this point is the tremendous amount of hair loss. If it weren't for that, I would remain on this medication. I feel better mentally/emotionally than I have in years. My recommendation for those of you just starting out, take 1/2 in the a.m, and the other 1/2 in the evenings. The side effects are rough and it took about 3 months for them to taper down. This medication definitely needs to be tweeked. If it weren't for the hair loss, I would probably never stop taking it!!

I was very skeptical... am 51 and depressed for 30 years... have been on almost everything... Prozac was best for a while, but then the "poop" out... just started the 40 mg... I felt better a tiny bit better after a few days... very mild diarrhea on first day, then again on first day of 20 mg, nothing more... cried today for first time in a while and was glad since I had sad incident happen and while on Effexor last I was emotionally numb, so a few appropriate tears showed me I was not numb... will post again in a week and see how I'm doing. am feeling a bit optimistic so far.

I agree with everyone else who said. Viibryd is "evil" and "the devil ." I am doing everything in my power to tell everyone I know how horrible it is.

I was put on Viibryd (40 mg) after gaining weight and having ONE high blood pressure reading on Lexapro. As the months progressed, my symptoms of anxiety and depression actually worsened to the point where I was having episodes daily, and I was becoming increasingly suicidal. I had become completely detached from my friends, hobbies, family ... Even my home felt like someone else's house. Oh, and I was wide awake at 4 AM every day and found it physically impossible to stay awake 9-11 AM.

My "doctor" didn't know much about Viibryd and actually wanted to give me a higher dose! When I said I wanted to go off completely, she didn't tell me I should taper off so I quit cold turkey. I did NOT want that poison in my body another day. I immediately felt a thousand times better -- like stepping out into the sun! I was really dizzy for a few days though.

I realize the OP is two yrs old, but I want this out there for anyone doing research. DO NOT take Viibryd. There are plenty of tried-and-true meds to take instead. I don't think Viibryd is worth the risks.

Its the devil! But if you can handle ALL (and you will have them)Side effects that can last for a month till your body gets used to it then your one tough cookie ;) I have been shot, stabbed and beat up to the point that I was black and blue for 5 weeks and would rather go through all of those things again at the same time then to go through those side effects again! But I do hope that you wont have any and also hope that this medication works for you for what ever reasons who have to take it!Good Luck and may God have mercy on your soul haha

Sorry to hear that level of extreme reaction. Your doctor needs to know, and you ought to file a report with the mgf. They all need to know.
The first 3 days of pills should be 1/2 the starter dose in the intro packet given out by the doctor. Most people are going to be on this drug for a long time, hence, start off slowly with lower doses and build up slowly too. In your case, it makes sense that some other drug be tried especially if your confidence is shattered. Best regards and good luck next time on replacement drug.

DO NOT TAKE THIS EVIL DRUG!!I just started taking Viibryd today and I saw the side effects and thought that maybe they were rare and I wouldn't have any,but I was wrong!First came the horrible stomach pains that do not go away and you wont be able to go to the bathroom for at least a hour so you have to suffer till then! And when you finally get to go all a sudden you feel dizzy and start to vomit wile may I add your all ready in the middle of #2 so you need a bucket handy! And then the chest pains and fast heart rate kicks in and you feel like your about to have a heart attack and after a wile you wish you would just to end the suffering! And I can now see why there is a chance that this evil drug from hell could cause you to have suicidal thoughts not cause it is a side effect but it makes you want to die!Lets just say that I would rather give birth to a rhino through my penis then to go through this ever again!
