What is difference in ingredients between Hydrocodone and Vicodin? I am trying to find out what is stronger: Hydrocodone Acetaminophen 10 325 or are Vicodin 500 tablets stronger? ## Hi Viv, To answer your question I first need to explain that Vicodin actually contains both Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen as the active ingredients. So in your comparison, both drugs contain the same active ingredients, just in different doses. Hydrocodone Acetaminophen 10 325 is a generic for Norco containing Hydrocodone 10mg and Acetaminophen 325mg. Vicodin 500 contains Hydrocodone 5mg and Acetaminophen 500mg. So the generic Norco which you have contains twice as much Hydrocodone (the opioid ingredient) but less Acetaminophen than the Vicodin. I hope that this makes sense, and let me know if you need any m...
Is a hyd 40 a vicodin? My doctor prescribed them to me and I need to know what it is before taking it. My doctor is not in this week due to the holidays. Please help. Thanks. ## Hello, Carrie! How are you? This tablet is manufactured by Purdue Pharma and they list it as being a 40mg Hysingla ER tablet, it is a time released formulation of Hydrocodone, so it lacks the Acetaminophen that Vicodin contains and is not immediately released. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
I just moved near Augusta GA and im in desperate need of a doctor who is willing to prescribe opiate pain medicine. I was used to taking 10mg vicodin or Norco 7.5 before i moved. Since I only suffer from terrible migraines and moderate back pain the docs here only offered Tylenol 3 which isn't helping much at all so Any help would be so appreciated!

My primary Dr only allows 1 pill 5mg - twice per day for a year. I need doulble that to control back pain. ## I need Pain killers for a lower back slipped disc and current doctor only offers one 5 mg pill twice daily that does nothing. I am in Western Sububrbs of Chicago (Naperville/Whaton) and looking for a NEW DOCTOR that will offer higher doses or alternate prescription medication ## Have either one of you considered seeing a pain management specialist? The issue here is that you've both been seeing primary care doctors, who aren't specially trained in the handling of such issues and thus, they may not feel comfortable doing so. ## I need to find a dr in Chicago who will prescribe pain meds. Would anyone have any answers ## Has anyone found a good pain clinic in the Chicago s...
I have had two tooth extractions. The pain is killing me and I am not able to sleep well because of the pain. Which medication would be better at treating my pain? Vicodin 5/325 or Percocet 2.5/325? ## In this case, the dosage of Vicodin that you have is stronger than the dosage of Percocet, so it may help more. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Please be sure to follow your dentist's instructions. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for reply fast, that what my recent dr prescribe for 10 pills of Vicodin 5/325. My side effect is none. The pain go away while i sleep. I'm glad i choose the Vicodin. I still take every 4 to 6 hours ...
If your child has these pills you have a serious problem if they were not prescribed by a Dr. They should only be used under medical supervision . ## That is correct, Harold! Thank you for your helpful post. According to the prescription drug databases, these are listed as containing 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. The FDA lists this as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are there any questions or concerns? ## This took me forever to find. This site helped too. I've been googling everything..cause i knew someone i know was pulling fast ones on all of us...saying these pills were her diabetic meds, we knew they didn't look the same....
I just picked up a new prescription of vicodin from the pharmacy a week ago and i've taken four. The rx was for 60 and i counted three times and the count keeps coming up to 40. I noticed my neighbor when I visit or outside working always offers to fetch things for me in my house. I have fibromyalgia and I have two tears in my rotator cuff. I try not to take them but sometimes the pain can be unbelievable. I am on a lot of medication and I even noticed my adderall coming up short. I would like to make sure before I confront her. I know that she has her own rx but when she gets them she has said that she sells hers. Is there anything that I can replace my vicodin with, without it being too noticeable? ## Hi Linda - sorry to hear about that. It might be tough to find a vitamin or OTC ...
The pill looks like a vicodin. It's coated and has nothing on one side. The other side has #44175 on it.... Can someone tell me if it is a lortab or hydrocodone? ## No, it is not. This is actually an over the counter medication that contains 500mgs of Acetaminophen, it is a generic, or store brand of Extra Strength Tylenol. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, and headache. Is there anything else I can help with? ## You are wrong this was out before the manufacturer changed and was bought out thus changing the pill to acetaminophen only, witch btw the pill in reference is blank on one side.
I had surgery and was given Valium as well as codeine for the pain. Only took codeine for a day or so and last time I took Valium was yesterday -- in total for less than a week. I am wanting to begin my contrave prescription but want to make sure there are no contraindications as I know Valium has quite a long half-life and am concerned about mixing chemicals in my body. Suggestions as to how long I need to wait before I start would be appreciated . Thanks ## Hi Diana, I'm a little confused as to whether the "Vicodin" in your title is a typo or not, because you go on to mention "Valium and Codeine" from that point forward with no other regard for Vicodin...? According to The University of Maryland's drug interaction tool, there are no interactions between Valium ...
Trying to substitute 20mg oxycodone 3x a day with vicodin. How many vicodin a day would equal? ## Hello, Cici! How are you? You should not take more than your doctor has prescribed. The ratio, however, would be 30mgs of the Hydrocodone in the Vicodin to each 20mgs of Oxycodone. The problem is the Acetaminophen that is also in Vicodin, it is dangerous to take too much of it in any 24 hour period. Thus, if the current dose you've been prescribed of Vicodin does not help you, it would be much safer to speak to your doctor about adjusting your dosage, or trying a different medication. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
I am taking vicodin. In Mexico I bought Tylex CD & Lertus CD. Are they the same strength as vicodin? ## fgjhgfhgfhgf ## to the 2nd poster. you are taking some very dangerous drugs. your baby may suffer birth defects and withdrawl syndrome from the Alprax use. I suggest you see a doctor ASAP! ## Shelly, the Vicodin contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. Tylex-CD contains Acetaminophen and Codeine and the Lertus--CD is llisted as containing Diclofenac and Codeine, so these are all different medications. The Codeine is still a narcotic, but the dosage and safe amount you can take in a day can be quite different. Do you have the dosage information on any of them? These details may enable me to help you more. ## I am taking NORCO 10/325 I bought Tylex Cd in mexico 500mg/30mg what is the...
Wondering how long Vicodin stays in your system. Had to take a urine test from Ameritox the last time I went to the doctor (have not heard any results) Wondering if the dr. is waiting till I go to get refills. Anyway, my question is ... He knows I take it ... Is there a test out there that will tell him I take more than prescribed? If so is there any way I can get at least some of it out of my system...in case I have to test again. ## Yes, there are tests that can show the levels of it that are in your body. When you are prescribe a certain amount, they know the range that your levels should fall in, based on that dosage, as well as your weight, age and etc. Anything outside of that range can alert them to a problem. The Hydrocodone can be detectable for approximately 4 to 5 days and th...
I know vicodin is addictive, but what I want to know is: For the people who are in chronic severe long term pain, is getting off it any easier? Vicodin isnt that strong, it is only a little stronger than acetomeniphen and codiene but theres something about vicodin that makes it much more addictive, does anybody know? ## No! But I would like to know what it is. My husband has been taking Vicodin, off and on, for 2 years. He takes it for severe pain. ## Well me being a ex drug addict to perscription drugs my comment to this would be...When we get addicted we can take up to 30 pills and not care or we start mixing a lot even drink with the meds. This causes more damage and health problems to are body....This making in the end the pain worse..It's a lot like alcohol It's ok why your...
I have a Rx of Vic's for 5/325. They r the vintage Qualitest brand. What I find odd is they r oblong white with little pink speck in them. ## That is just something that was done to help distinguish their pills from the others that are on the market, they are just added specks of color and nothing to worry about. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. I'm in generally good health, but I asked my doctor for Vicodin to have on hand for occasional aches & pains and he prescribed 30 tabs (10mg). Question: generally speaking, how often can I ask for a refill without raising a red flag? ## Hello, Jerry! How are you? Unfortunately, there's no hard and fast rule I can give you for this. It really depends on your doctor, how understanding they are and how long they expect that prescription to last. It it was for 'occasional' use, they may expect it last you a few months. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Did you pharmacy list how many days supply it's expec...

These pills look like they might be really old. They are huge not like other pain meda. So i just wanted to make sure they are not to old. ## I got a few of these to scared to take because I've never seen a Vicodin that looked like this and with all fake stuff going around but did u find out if this was real or not ## According to another discussion thread here, these are rumored to be generic vicodin with a dosage of 5/500mg. And seeing as it reportedly contains 500mgs of acetaminophen, I'm thinking this must've been made at least a few years ago before the FDA mandated a 325mg dosage limit. The good news however is that Harvard University studies have proved how pain meds such as this can last decades under proper storage conditions. The NY Times paper also posted a simila...
What is 2172 white oval pill I can't identify it is it a Vicodin 5/325 I can't find what this pill is is it a lortab or is it a 10/325 ## Hello, Kelli! How are you? This tablet is very new and I've only recently been able to find verifiable information on it, but it does contain 5mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. The U.S. FDA classifies it as being a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.
