Tramadol By Amneal Vs Mylan (Page 4) (Top voted first)

Updated

All our pharmacies here have switched to amneal, which doesn't do a thing except give a headache. The brand does make a difference. The mylan works great.

I am very sensitive to casein, and luckily no symptoms of that lurking in the tramadol generics I have had. I am sensitive to lactose, but luckily symptoms less severe than yours. I wish they would leave the lactose ingredients out, even if the pills were grainy, or slimy, or crumbly, whatever reason they use lactose for.

Wow, Treva works really well for me but I was wondering about other brands such as Sun, Eeva, & North star. Does anyone know anything about these brands?

I am pulling my hair out trying to find a pharmacy that will bring in tramadol Teva manufacturer. Other brands will set me off in a flare. Teva is the only one that works. Please help. I am living in Orlando Fl.

It's now January 2018 and my pharmacy switched to Amneal from Mylan. I had used Amneal a few years ago and found it did nothing for me (not even a headache lol). I had to take two of the Mylan to get any relief so the meds went quickly at 2 per day (it keeps me up at night so I only take it in the morning. Long story short, I'm finding the Amneal now being much better than the Mylan brand. They must have reformulated and I'm very happy about that.

It will mess u up bad. I couldn't figure out why I was having such a hard time with anger, anxiety physically and mentally and so impatient and paronid. Was horrible....then I realized I was taking a different generic tramadol. It was the amneal!!!! I have been on tramadol for about 7 yrs. and never had this happen on the Teva

I have taken Teva US and Amneal brands. For pain I rate both of them 5 out of 10. Teva brand gives me more energy and some less anxiety. Amneal helps with my anxiety a lot and gives little energy.

You're right, they rescheduled it to a higher narcotic, but they also changed the formula to a lower formulation, plus it is substandard. Someone, at one of the pharmacies(a few years ago, can't remember which) told me that our medications are now being bought from pharmaceutical mfrs. in India who have probably changed the fillers, which affect the way our bodies absorb and respond to the medication. They have probably also been instructed by our FDA to alter the pain ingredient to comply with, (at that time), Obamas war on Drugs. The generic tramadol being dispensed, in my case, does little to help with pain. I combine with naprosyn to get by, but it also causes various affects like depression and, or, anxiety some months, other months it takes away feelings, hope, enthusiasm, even anger, etc., plus it is a VERY harsh mix of components to swallow. Every now and then I get a script that feels like nothing, with no feeling of pain relief. But I keep hoping that the next month will be better, plus my only alternative would be to change to a narcotic like a Codone, or Morphine, which causes similar affects PLUS they cause a high/ loopyness which affects my balance, and makes it hard to stay awake. Original Tramadol, mfr'd before 2013, very efficiently took pain away, AND it caused NO negative affects. My pharmacy is at Fry's, they dispense Amneal which at one time mfr'd very effective medication, but which is NOT producing the same quality now. Generic tramadol is not the only medication that has been changed to a substandard formulation I have talked with family members and friends who say the medications they are taking(heart, diabetes, pain, etc) cause various affects that they didn't have before. Sorry to say, but I think as long as our meds are mfr'd in India, and maybe other cheap labor places, that the U.S. FDA is distant from, we will continue to get substandard medications.

Re: Truthsayer (# 93) Expand Referenced Message

What an ignorant statement! I actively encourage you to read the Hatch-Waxman Act as it relates to how the FDA determines if a drug is bioequivalent to the brand name.

It allows the generic firm to vary + OR - 20% when completing an ANDA for FDA approval.

When the generic company conducts its testing to demonstrate that their product is bioequivalent, they often will only use 10-15 subjects. Sometimes they may not even include geriatric patients, or patients of a different race.

Moreover, the FDA does not proactively supervise or oversee the generic firm's testing, they accept that the generic firm did not "fudge" their data, and that solid internal and external validity prevailed during testing.

The results of the generic company's testing is not made available to the public.

Finally, and this is where it becomes even more concerning, is that most generic companies actually produce their product in third world countries....usually India.

They may have offices in the United States and distribute the drug here, but they make the drug in places (that I can assure you) you would not..... want to live.

Re: Abigail (# 16) Expand Referenced Message

Hi Abigail, I realize that your post here was from 2015 but wanted to comment that I also went through a similar issue when my longtime Tramadol script was refilled with "Amneal" instead of the Teva I'd been taking for years. I kept thinking it was just me(disturbing thoughts, bad headaches, etc.,) because it was during the early pandemic in 2020, I was moving to a different state, etc., but finally one day it occurred to me that these feelings had coincided with my last refill after I'd moved, and the Walgreens had switched it to Amneal. I called them and insisted on Teva, and within 4 hours of going back on Teva, it felt like a black cloud had lifted and I KNEW it was from the Amneal. My called my Dr to tell him, and told me that it could have been the fillers used by Amneal or just "a bad batch". I will never take anything other than the Teva again! I am not a person who usually has any "sensitivities" to meds, so it was really scary, and I lost about 4 weeks to the effects from the Amneal, since I couldn't function(wasn't working, thankfully).

Amneal was horrendous.

Re: Tam (# 100) Expand Referenced Message

I have taken both Teva and Amneal generic Tramadol 50MG over the last 10 years.

Put on first started taking it 10 years ago Teva seemed more efficacious, but recently I have noticed a serious decrease in the efficacy of their product.

I switched back to Amneal and for the last five months it is (at least in my opinion) significantly more efficacious than Teva.

Thanks so much, I thought it was me. I had been going to three different pharmacies to ensure I received Teva brand. It provided pain relief & energy, but most importantly a good mood. Amneal is wrecking me sadly. I have Fibromyalgia, Numerous injuries & also PTSD Depression.

You're probably right about them withholding, or substituting the ingredients of the way it was originally formulated.

Abigale, I just did a search on TEVA USA and found a list of TEVA distributors you might want to check it out....my drug store Rite aid is on their list and it's pretty extensive. Hope you can find what you need. Joanie

Generic Tramadol is one that to me has never measured anything close to the original Ultram regardless of manufacturer. Personaly I wouldnt believe they were generic Ultram if it wasnt labeled so. Tramadol generic anything is garbage i think.
Rather pay the difference. If mylan is the best generic thats at least helpful to know.

Not even the original works. I paid over $350 for the McNeil.....They changed something and won't admit it or the i****s I'm getting on the phone have no clue of the severity of the issue. They are all kids on the phone, no matter how high up the later I go. I'm DONE with battling for ultram. I'm trying to get over the pain with patches. I'll go for lidocaine inj's. if I must. Happy Healing to all.

I've been on tramadol for 5 years (mylan m-t7) which worked fine, then changed to another brand (677). I went online and found out what's in tramadol: Antidepressants, poppy from china, ibuprofen, codeine, synthetic subs from opium poppy, mirlax, lactose, synthetic analog of codeine. Those side effects they list they don't tell u that the additives and fillers in tramadol cause the problem. If you're allergic to most of them you're in trouble. I've been itchy from the scalp for over a year and a half. I'm lactose intolerant. Look it up on the mfg and see what they are putting in tramadol and u will see like me why it's not working and the danger to people like me who didn't know because doctors don't find out what's in the fillers. Instead of saying what the effects are they should tell you what the fillers are, which a lot of people cant take.
