I've taken this drug for sometime now, or at least one with a very similar look. Originally I had to be represcribed Levoxyl because of a DYE used in mfg.that made me itch profusely. I have blisters on my tongue. I know that I am allergic to the atom sulfur as well as sulfa drugs. Do synthroid or trazodone contain sulfur? ## There are far too many to possibly list them all here. Synthroid, however, contains Levothyroxine and neither it, nor the Trazodone are sulfur based, to my knowledge, but you should check with your pharmacist to be sure, since I don't know what all the inactive ingredients may be. Are your doctor and pharmacist aware of your allergy? I have taken levothyroxine for eleven months starting 25ml rising to 75ml I have gone from bad to hell I can no longer believe this is doing me anything but harm ,the high blood pressure the cramps to legs buttocks hands to name but a few ,the feeling of choking lack of air it's driving me mad . I have never been a pill taker I had watched my mother sink under 30+pills a day to renal failure to withdrawing herself from dialysis . Hi everyone, I'm a sufferer from hypothyroidism; I was just wondering about how to take Levothyroxine; because I began taking it as one tablet of 25mcg....working up to two...then three...and then finally four 25mcg tablets, at which point a blood test told me through my doctor, that my thyroid was now apparently working well. I figured it would be OK for me now to take just one tablet, of 100mcg, rather than four ( was given a choice of both types). So once my 25mcg tablets started running to run out, that's what I did. However, whether I imagined it or not, I found myself happier on the four X 25mcg than the one X 100mcg. Is this normal? Should I worry? ## what are the side effects of this drug? ## How is Armour Thyroid Replacement Hormone listed for side effects? I have taken it for years and have stacked on the lbs. I am just learning it may be the Thyroid medication that may be the issue. I take two strengths and alternate them daily. 90 one day and 120 the next, then back to 90 etc.... I am told by my dietitian I do not eat enough. I am also diabetic so sugar is eaten but rarely. I am a carb eater though. My sugars are almost in the normal range. So why all this weight gain? Its nice to find something new that helps pain when you are suffering. I have had dry eyes for years but now I have an unusual problem caused by hypothyroidism: acne rosacea on my face and eyes. Now the dryness in my eye is much worse, often indescribable . If anybody suffers from acne rosacea of the eyes -- I have discovered that eating and drinking dairy products was making my eyes ring in pain. I then read an article that said to stop ingesting dairy and meat because both have hormones in them. I followed that advise and my eyes went from painful burning lumps of red lines to white open eyes. My Tsh level during the last two years oscillated between 1.6 to 3.6 mc IU/ml in case of mine and 1.4 to 3.6 mc IU/ml oscillated in case of my wife. Our T3 and T4 are normal .We both are diabetic and is under control.Has mild bp.I have been taking 75 mcg thyronorm and my wife is taking 50 mcg of thyronorm. I am 75 year old and my wife is 66 year old .My question is even when the values are below normal (5.5 mcIU/ml) and even when there are no symptoms right from 2011 (first onset of the test) do we have to take this medicine? I have been suffering from a drug allergy reaction for 5 months. This has been confirmed by skin biopsies. I have discontinued all my meds except Synthroid and I am still breaking out with skin rashes. I was switched to the dye free .5 tablet - I take 2 1/2 tablets . I want to discontinue the Synthroid for a few months to test if I am allergic to it. My doctor says no, do not discontinue and he will not switch me to a natural thyroid hormone. I have had a total thyroidectomy in January. After several months and testing I have gone from 100mcg down to 50mcg. I am told that means that there has to be some thyroid tissue remaining. I have gained weight almost 10 pounds, watch what I eat and am on the treadmill 45 minutes a day 7 days a week. I have hot flashes and night sweats multiple times a day. I have taken deviry 10mg (3 tablets daily), but missed my third tablet on the third day (at night) and I took it on the following day. I have taken a total of 10 tablets in four days. Today is the fifth day after finishing my deviry dose, but still i haven't gotten my periods. All of my thyroid reports (TSH, LH) are normal.
