Teva Lorazepam Reviews (Page 5) (Top voted first)

I'm seeking insights and reviews on Teva Lorazepam and its comparison with Leading Pharma's version. There's a notable divide in user experiences. Some report Leading Pharma Lorazepam as being less effective or having no effect, possibly due to variations in the active ingredient, leading to side effects or adverse reactions in certain cases.

While there are those who recommend Teva Lorazepam for its efficacy, others find Leading Pharma's version more suitable. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to try Teva Lorazepam since it's not available in my area – no local pharmacies dispense it.

My experience with other brands, post the discontinuation of Qualitest, hasn't been successful in finding a comparable alternative. I'm particularly interested in understanding how Teva Lorazepam and Leading Pharma's lorazepam differ in terms of effectiveness and user satisfaction.

If you've had experiences with either or both of these medications, your reviews would be incredibly valuable. Any insights into their efficacy, side effects, or overall satisfaction would greatly help me and others in our decisions.

From what I’ve read and experienced over the decades, if lorazepam hasn’t bothered you in 5 years then taking the name brand shouldn’t be giving you a cough...maybe you would have gotten a cough no matter what meds you take...coughs are pretty common...I know as an anxious person I tend to attribute commonplace aches and pains (and some not so common) to a change in meds or food I’ve never eaten before...but usually it’s just due to being alive...people not on benzos get the same annoying symptoms and just shrug them off and don’t go looking for a cause....I know in the recent past when I was first going to have to switch to Leading Pharma I started to get headaches...I thought SEE...it’s the new medication...then my wife reminded me I hadn’t started Leading just yet...I thought foolishly.....oops...it can’t be the new meds, must be something else.....the headaches disappeared on their own as does every new symptom......that’s one of the major drawbacks to having anxiety/health anxiety (I liked calling it hypochondria better)....normal people may b**** about an annoying symptom then go about their life....people with anxiety google it and feel worse....so it’s very difficult when a symptom that comes from a body malfunction or disease presents itself...how do you tell the difference?

Hey . My dr filled out a form saying that i had tryed other generics that made me sick and it took a few days but insurance Accepted it. I still have to pay 60 bucks but thats better then what i thought i was gonna have to pay.

Yeah im hoping im just getting a cold and its not the Ativan. Its really working!!

Speak to both your insurance and drs and make sure you take the right steps so insurance will approve it

Hi Richard. I just read this. Thankyou. Your logic makes so much sense. When i first started the New Name Brand Ativan i was like feeling great in one week current day im having so much anxiety thinking this new Ativan is causing me this cough and OH great now im allergic. Im litterly in bed cant sleep with these thoughts. Heart is racing and chest pains. Im trying to convince myself its just my thoughts. I pray its not the Ativan and its just a cold or somthing like you said might pass. And looking on the internet does NOT help!!! Thanks again

I cannot speak for anyone else here...but I’ve never taken a benzodiazepine where my anxiety suddenly went POOF* and I felt wonderful....anxiety (and it’s subsequent symptoms) are always there ..just less so or less often or both......but the ache here or the pain there or the irrational thought every other minute (okay..i’m exaggerating) are always going to be part of my life...the benzos just make them a little easier to live with....sometimes we do get colds, flus, etc...and sometimes we just feel like we have the flu but it’s our thought process......sometimes that stomach pain really isn’t cancer but indigestion...but the anxious mind never seems to consider the more common of the two choices....I guess that’s what makes us “special”, lol....

I defiantly thought this New Ativan woukd help me out but i guess i was wrong. Its only keeping my anxiety at bay. My brain just wont let me relax on my own and i just want to pop a pill to do that.. what have you found that helps you. For me its looking to God. I find comfort in the scriptures. What about you?

Well, as far as the religious part....I’m an artist who revels in the wonderful aspects of nature..but I don’t ascribe their origins or design to a higher power...they just are the result of evolution....but there is so much more to that but I do not understand it........I do understand the more developed minds who are aware of their existence needing an explanation of how things got here.....but I prefer the answer of “I don’t know” to “some all powerful being created everything imaginable. But I think the real reason Man created God was to both explain and give hope to that universal fear- what happens next after this life? I’ve spoken to priests, nuns, religious philosophers about this....but all they can tell me are “facts” that have been told to them over and over.....which fine-for them..I never try to convince them otherwise......I think ‘faith’ is wonderful...I lack it......and truly am jealous of those who have it.

As for generic versus brand- 6 years ago I went on generic lorazepam after taking brand for nearly 30 years....I was hoping the Watson made would work...it did as soon as I forgot to be aware of whether I felt different. This year when my pharmacy changed over to Leading I looked it up and found this forum where I found everyone quite upset it was not working for them..I naturally freaked as my prescription was for 270 2mg tablets......I immediately walked to Leading Pharma (yes, walked...they are literally around the corner from ,me on Oak road in Fairfield, NJ.). I spoke with a rep.....who advised me while the active ingredient is always the same (at least in the USA), the inactive ingredients can differ in content and %. .that could lead any generic to affect people in different ways.. two pharmacy managers confirmed this.......

Turned out...for me - Leading worked just fine...so naturally my pharmacy switched back to Watson....only now it read Watson/Actavis...again I freaked...doesn’t look the same- whiter tablet......I called my pharmacy manager - she said while the color may be a whiter brighter tablet, Watson-in 2012 after being purchased by Teva was joined with Actavis with Actavis doing the distributing and Watson doing the manufacturing on the same molds they used in 2011..but now in India....I’m guessing it’s my imagination but it’s effectiveness seems to last a slightly shorter time but it could be my imagination.

As for brand name Ativan, it used to be made by Wyeth but now is made by Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. who are in Canada.

Teva bought the Actavis brand and they did what most of the low life manufacturers do and made some changes to the original product. It's weaker than the original. Really hard to find a product, as at one time they sold their product to another company and they did what Sandoz did when they bought the Lorazepam brand from the original Actavis company. The sandoz pills were like taking a sugar pill, they obviously thought the people would continue buying that pathetic product, but there is a karma in this industry, and trash like sandoz is no longer in the lorazepam business.

Lots of us are still dealing with pharmacies buying whatever they can get the cheapest.

I was on brand name until my provider will no longer write a script outside of my clinic.

I'm back at the mercy of whatever they can get. At the moment I'm on Watson. And basically it just keeps me functional. (Mind you that is a blessing)

The new stuff they got in is Leading. I'll be getting that next from what I'm told.

If you're part of the VA system they will not order anything special. Siting there's no difference with any of the generics. And we just can't know what's available or know what's in stock. Yah sure. (This isn't true because you can be board approved for what works for you or brand name meds)

These are trained educated medical people and they've bought into the lies of big pharma. No skin off their tails as they don't have to take them.

Looks as if I'm going to have to speak with my local representative and see if they can once again light a fire under the system.

I don't believe the coronavirus has anything to do with what's available. Least in my case it hasn't.

The only problem I've ran into with covid-19 is the time available with my provider as he works a short week on the tax payers dollar.

Explains that he only has a limited time to speak via the phone because of this pandemic.

Everything is telemed which I understand. But that doesn't excuse them by saying they have a limited time to speak.

My understanding is the clinic hardly allows anyone in unless it's urgent. So I'm unable to get my other medical needs taken care of.

Really wished someone would stand up with Bausch health and get them to reduce the cost of their brand name. Just can't believe what they charge for it.

Do a GoodRx search and put in your amount you take and strength. You'll have to select brand name. Mine is like 9k for a 30 supply.

Richard are still on Watson or has that changed.

Feel free anyone who wants to chime in on my thread as I'd be grateful to hear how y'all are doing and what is working for y'all.

I was doing fairly ok till the past few weeks. So I had no news to share. Stay safe y'all.

Yes, I am still on "Watson" but Watson hasn't been 'Watson' since around 2013....there was a backlog of stored pills that had to be sold so I didn't notice it until 2017 or so....when I was on Leading...i felt like everyone else here...its not enough.....yet when my body adjusted over months, it didn't seem as bad..but still not the same....the got switched to Actavis (Which used the Watson molds when Teva (who owned Watson) bought out Watson lock, stock and um, molds)...i was angry because the actavis was even less potent than the Leading (as I remembered it).....now..over a year later....the Actavis either got better or my body/mind got used to it.....I don't know which.......is it better than name brand? I have no idea since the name brand is no longer made by Wyeth and I've heard while its expense as hell, its not that much better if at all than the generics...i have no idea as its hearsay......but one thing for sure.....after 50+ taking benzos, i finally got very serious about meditation/progressive relaxation about a year ago.....I do think its helped me cope with the changes in meds.....

I've been tied up with trying to figure this dilemma out taking the Leading brand.

One thing I wanted to say before I go on. I re-read my last post and thought some might have thought I was being critical about not being able to be seen with this covid-19 pandemic going on. The truth is I totally understand the need to keep doctors and medical staff as well as us patients safe.

What I was trying to say was in my current situation the clinics staff are mainly on at home work status using telemed services to non emergent care. I mean I'm all for that 100%. Actually wished that was a all the time option as I'm unable to drive any more. So I hope nobody read what I last said I was thinking just about me.

My only concern was being rushed when I've needed to speak with someone when I've had a schedule appointment.

Most of us Veterans already deal with this even under normal circumstances. So I apologize if anyone thought I was being harsh.

But here's what I can say I'm not pleased with. The Veteran administration buys meds at the cheapest rate they can. They'll cut cost farewell knowing that some of the drugs are inferior to others. Thus putting us veterans in a unsafe situation. They'll even use other meds that aren't prescribed for the actual reason they're needed.

My doctor and a handful nurses, pharmacy techs and pharmacist will tell you that they will not order anything other then what they can get the cheapest.

The truth is there are criterias and protocols that if meet they are allowed to order brand name meds or other generics if a patient fails on ones they've been given at first that do not work.

But if you don't push a little and remind them of this they'll force you to take it no matter what.

Richard you said it best about the do no harm. But we all know they push the envelope.

For me I'm all for taken what they can get at the best cost. But if that cost harms a patient that's not good. And it is not good medical practice.

Right now I've been given Leading brand and it's been documented by my last doctor I failed this brand. And they only have Watson and Leading in stock.

So my doc tells me he'll not allow me to return it to pick up either Watson or brand name. Says he cannot write another script until my supply is due next month. Citing my license is at hand.

I reminded him that he'd canceled the brand name script on me last month from Bausch health that he wrote and rewrote a new script over top of that one. So tell me again doc how you can't do this again.

I've contacted my local representatives as I'm not going to be forced to take something that doesn't work and is making me sick. Also having them change it back and forth putting my body into a tailspin each month.

All I can say guys, this really isn't cool. Again I apologize if I came across insensitive under our current circumstances with the coronavirus pandemic. Wasn't what I was conveying.

Brand named Ativan is the closest to Mylan hands down. Just isn't as strong as it used to be. It wears off sooner then it used to for me. But takes hold the fastest without side effects.

Wanted to try Aurobindo generic lorazepam but haven't been able to find it. My current situation isn't going to allow that to happen unless I pick up pvt insurance.

As for 2 mgs I've never really had them but a few times. Seems the larger the pill in generic form the more fillers. Plus I'm not a fan of having to break my pills to take what's been prescribed to me.

Agree about sending form to FDA Medwatch. Back in 2018 I sent in a complaint to the FDA on Leading/Major lorazepam not having therapeutic equivalence of Ativan. I went into a nasty withdrawal the first day I had to switch from Mylan to Leading. Not long after sending in the report I heard from someone at Leading that asked me to send them the remainder of lorazepam (they mailed me a FedEx ship bag) and they called my pharmacy to get the lot number. She said she would contact me again but never did. No way that garbage would test as equivalent to Ativan, too many people complaining. I was fortunate that my doctor was able to get my insurance to approve the brand name Ativan and it’s worked fine.

My insurance covered the brand after some wicked acute withdrawal once the Mylan or Sandoz supplies dried up and I was stuck with Leading. A lot of genetics are garbage and not bioequivalent to the original brand, that’s a fact. If this is a topic that really interests you I’d recommend reading the book: “Bottle of Lies: The Inside Story of the Generic Drug Boom”.

I would bet if you’re fine on leading lorazepam you could taper off in as little as 30-days and realize you don’t need it.

Um......Leading lasted for one 3-month prescription, then Costco switched to Actavis. Taking 2mg 3x day is not exactly a light dose to be weaned off of. I've heard of one guy who gave up after being on 1 mg a day.....they weaned him off of it but within months he had awful rebound. He is now on 3mg a day and swears he will never go through that hell again (he not only went through withdrawal hell, but lost his wife, his job and his desire to live.) I don't need any of those at this stage in life. My current doc tells me its impossible to get off benzos taking my dose for over 35 years....it changes the brain chemistry...and that doesn't change back because the benzos are stopped.

I found a horrible FDA report from 2013 on Leading.... so many issues from cleanliness, storage. Every step of manufacturing had an insufficient grade. Scarrrry!!!!

Leading works for some, not for others...took me over a month before it worked for me.....not a good idea to presume others will have your experience with it......Leading is manufactured in more than one place.....one us literally around the corner from me..i thought it was just marketing there... i was wrong....some lorazepam IS manufactured in the US....i recently received some from costco...totally different from what i received 2 years ago.

Yes. Some of them absolutely are just sugar pills. I'm having an awful time trying to find something else, either another manufacturer or another medication. In the mean time, I'm worried about going into convulsions because you're NOT supposed to just stop taking these but I KNOW I'm not getting much/any active ingredient in at least half the pills. I hope my doctor has heard of this and can help because I cannot afford the brand name.
