Teva Lorazepam Reviews (Page 4) (Top voted first)

I'm seeking insights and reviews on Teva Lorazepam and its comparison with Leading Pharma's version. There's a notable divide in user experiences. Some report Leading Pharma Lorazepam as being less effective or having no effect, possibly due to variations in the active ingredient, leading to side effects or adverse reactions in certain cases.

While there are those who recommend Teva Lorazepam for its efficacy, others find Leading Pharma's version more suitable. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to try Teva Lorazepam since it's not available in my area – no local pharmacies dispense it.

My experience with other brands, post the discontinuation of Qualitest, hasn't been successful in finding a comparable alternative. I'm particularly interested in understanding how Teva Lorazepam and Leading Pharma's lorazepam differ in terms of effectiveness and user satisfaction.

If you've had experiences with either or both of these medications, your reviews would be incredibly valuable. Any insights into their efficacy, side effects, or overall satisfaction would greatly help me and others in our decisions.

I weaned myself off of 3mg at down to 2mg of Aurobindo pharma generic back in 2022. 2023 was a tough yr for me, so I couldn't wean. At end of November 2023, my refill of lorazepam Aurobindo, took 2 mg, was up all night into next morning. Thought perhaps I had taken 2 duds. By next evening took 2mg, again up all night. I was dumbfounded, I then went on line to to find formula. It did not match. Missing ingredients. I went to see my doctor, told him of problem. He gave me new script to try another generic lorazepam. Guess what the company that made my 2mg, sold the company to a pharmaceutical in India. F.D.A. had issues with Aurobindo pharma. Their lorazepam is nothing but placebo. So pharmacy put me on Leading Pharma. I never had these before! That night I took 2mg at 830pm. I was wide awake. I had to go back on another medication (liquid) to help me get the sleep I had lost. People depend on me, very active! Not anymore. Lead pharma, (pill) EP905-090-10 under Drug List, shows that the maker is Major Pharma, not Leading Pharma. And formula, changed. Both Aurobindo n Leading changed formula. They show they have all ingredients on paper, but once approved by F.D.A. the formula changed. Now both are just placebos. The change started in September of 2023. The cost without ins 30 day supply varies in price. (These 1mg pills) either pharma. And here I was resolved to wean off in 2024, but can't. When I got off 3mg to 2mg. It took me 8 months of 2022. I skipped 2023, a lot of issues sprang up. But now 2024 and just can't wean cause no sleep. Have to use liquid med for other things, to help get what eye shut I can get. Getting sick too. Not sure if I want Valium? Not sure of Teva either. My pharmacy orders special generic narcotics. The pharmaceutical companies are out to kill us, not help us.

I’m on Leading, while not as good as others in the past, it’s tolerable. I agree that the quality across the board has gone down. I would like this thread to stay open as I’ve always found it informative and helpful.

I know the feeling Deedee very well about these companies messing up the meds we've use for years. I've been through every ringer possible about trying to convince not only doctors but pharmacist some generics just don't work for people. As I've stated I believe it was Pure Pac that started the messing around with the formulas and marketing them with the brand's we've all been used to. It seems it really comes down to making money. I agree with what others have voiced we need to talk to government officials about putting an end this. I too have experience the majority of the side effects from some of the generics most of you guys have talked about. It's not funny at all it really isn't. But I'm with you on this stuff.

Yes, thank you. I also let my pharmacy mail order know that I filed a complaint. I am working on getting the ingredients for lorazepam on some of the different manufacturers. Taking a lot of time.

My God this same result/complaints are all over the internet! Everything Twig7 said seems to be on the money as I have done the same research. My Mother is taking Ativan and she is 73, so to the poor guy is being taken off his lorazepam, you need to find another doctor. Mom's been taking this medication for almost 30 years and has somewhat plateaued on her dose and was recently written one more tablet which did the trick and everything was great. she gets a 3 month supply at a time now, and her most recent script was filled with the leading brand generic ativan. She is currently in the hospital with severe stomach issues after about a month of this medication. No. I am not joking or exaggerating even a little. after just a day or two she felt these new sugary tasting pills from Leading Pharma aren't relieving her anxiety much if at all. Like I said, she just got this medication increase recently so there is definitely something to this. You Pharmacists can say what you want, that these people are all nuts, that all these generics are the same. Well folks, this is very real, and getting more traction recently with this particular brand of medication. Unless you are in this situation is hard to really comprehend what this can do to a person or there loved ones. I personally am gonna take this as far as I can until I get some changes, and some answers. I have been on a benzodiazepine myself for a few years after I came home from the U.S.M.C. for ptsd and was able to wean off myself. One of the hardest things I have ever done, but I took it upon myself to get off of prescription medications. Weaning process for me took almost 9 months after 4 years of xanax 2mg X 3 a day. Under a physician most people take longer, some much longer and there is nothing wrong with that. My point is, I do understand a little more intimately than someone who's never taken this type of medication. LEADING PHARMA LORAZEPAM IS TERRIBLE. That's the moral of the story. Do you know what branch of govt(?) did research with resulting in older folks being refused.... taken off lorazepam. And having to go through awful withdrawal. I have not been able to locate clinical trial or govt agency who mandated this order.
Old folks who are alone will suffer Agoraphobia even death from accidents when panic attacks come while driving. My Dr. said
"Attorney General" orders. I. can't find that information online.

Boy...talk about monopolies forming......so who will be making it besides Leading? My pharmacist says he’s ordered Watson ‘made by Watson’ according to him....not Actavis as Actavis doesn’t manufacture..it distributes according to 2 pharmacists....only relating what they said..not my specialty....it will be in just about now....new prescription is obtained next week......I think I prefer the Watson (been taking it since around the time it was absorbed/merged by Teva)...it’s worked for me but then Leading hasn’t been too bad for me...4th week now of 100% Leading... Maybe I’m one of the lucky ones.......a couple others in an anxiety group I belong to take it too...no issues......and i’m sure they would have said something as this group b****es about everything, lol......I had not noticed the sweetness until I read it here so I let one dissolve in my mouth....yup....sure tastes like sugar .....funny....sometimes it feels like it’s not quite as strong as the Watson...other times definitely stronger - longer lasting- not stronger sedatively speaking....and for some weird reason I’m sleeping longer and deeper since taking it.....I thought I’d be more sensitive to any change because i’ve been on 6mg a day for 35 years+. I hope everyone can get their issues resolved...anxiety/panic is bad enough without having meds screwing with us too......btw...my wife was on valsartan.....(sigh)

You must not have been reading this thread for the last few months almost on a daily basis.. this group of people whom I’ve gotten to know pretty well and am sure are all over the country, have been in this situation forever it seems!! Mylan stopped making this months ago and the few pharmacies that still had it were just using up what they had. Leading has taken over and it’s garbage. A few weeks ago I posted who and where people could voice their complaints to and it’s the only way we will be heard. Look back through here and make sure you have your settings to post the newest first or you’ll be reading posts from years ago.

I’m sorry Leading is not working for you...I was discussing this product with my psychopharmacologist who said that is the main problem with generics....for some a certain manufacturer may work great...but for others....not much at all......he’s says if you find one stick with it (yeah-no s***).......I doubt Leading is sugar plus additives, lol but for some it may work (or not work) like it does......I’m really sensitive to lorazepam (or no lorazepam) over the decades and I assure you I would know if there was no active ingredient...as I’ve stated before...a few hours past dosage and I end up in the ER......surely if it was just sugar I couldn’t take it for even a day......it DOES taste sweet though if I let it melt in my mouth.

I have to always keep in mind WHY I’m taking lorazepam even after 50+ years of benzos......a good many if not all of us have health anxiety to some degree...mix that with anxiety popping up in new/old symptoms every so often and Pharmaceuticals messing with our prescription - you have to try to determine which new ‘thing’ is from anxiety, meds, or our rather creative (yet serious) imaginations......over the years I never would have believed a body was able to have pain/welts/hives/etc...from thought but it does.....bp through the roof because I thought I forgot to take Ativan (name brand)..as soon as I remembered my bp went down as did my heart rate.....yeah-lorazepam is bad for the memory.....they say it can bring on early Alzheimers too but.....’they’ also say you have to keep upping your dose......I’ve been on the same dose I started on 35 years ago...so ‘they’ don’t know everything...

Honestly.....NOTHING ever actually helped with panic attacks....benzos lowered general anxiety but it took me a long time to learn that utter acceptance of panicky being nothing more than my body/mind over-reacting to thoughts I create.....I got by them by saying (a la Claire Weekes) to myself - they sure don’t feel it but they are harmless......one could happen tomorrow but it’s been over 10 years now.....agoraphobia, GAD, that’s another story.....but I had a very busy day ahead of me....I was in the middle of Target pushing a cart and I felt that old feeling starting..I got angry at it...I didn’t have time for it to take its time coming....so I stopped my tracks and sincerely encouraged it to hurry up and get over- I didn’t have the time......I stood.....I belly breathed.....I waited......and waited.....finally said “*uck you” to it and went about my business (I kinda startled a mother and daughter , lol).....I said ‘sorry’ and went on through the store...then it hit me what I had just done....I nervously laughed but discovered something Ihad only read about...turn the fear to anger.....accept no matter how you feel to do what you intended to do...I should take my own advice for agoraphobia, lol.....

I feel for you. Ativan was helping but to be honest i hated being addicted to them. So are you on anything? Lexapro helped me a lot with my crazy thoughts. I have OCD and fear of health issues.. I'm very much a quick fiz kind if person and liked the way Ativan calmed my nerves. But i was finding myself in a lot of trouble taking more than i should. The brain is a powerful thing isn't it??

Yes, of course...i’m On the same dose of Ativan/lorazepam I was put on 35 years ago after my retiring shrink didn’t want his patients on an addictive drug (for me-Valium).....lol.....he showed me a pamphlet (i’m Sure a collectors item now)...that stated Ativan was not addictive! I never needed nor wanted more...it doesn’t stop panic attacks for me...my thinking did that (or lack thereof) after being on Ativan a number of years but still got the panic attacks and anxiety..only less so...i’M not sure if they are still in operation but TERRAP, Inc. helped me more than any shrink ever did....TERRAP (territorial apprehension) was formed in Menlo Park, CA by a Dr. Hardy in 1967 (year of joy first panic attacks) but never heard of him until the 1980’s. It’s concerned with ‘baby-stepping’, convincing yourself you can handle anything but in small doses at first...a little discomfort but it pays off big time......yes indeed....the mind is a powerful persuader. Just remember...despite feeling like you are going to die...panic attacks never killed anyone but boy can they be exhausting!

Thankyou for that info! It really is about controlling your thinking. I got approved by my insurance for NAME Brand Ativan. Do you think in your opionion it works just as good as generic? Hopefully it helps me...I will eventually be getting off this drug and trying to work more on getting through tough times instead of popping a pill!

Yes, even though Wyeth no longer makes Ativan, I’m sure it’s quite effective! I’m happy you were able to get it......generics seem fine too......today I took one from Watson, one from Leading, and a ‘watson/actavis’ Tab....I didn’t feel any difference between any of them (I had saved a couple from each prescription to try this).

Hey Richard. I have a question. Ive been on Lorazapam for about 5 years. Now im in name brand for about a week. Ive had bronchities in the past but have noticed i have a bit of a cough. My dr doesnt think its related to my new Ativan since its much purer then the generic. Do you think there is a chance i could be allergic to Name brand Ativan? I know your not a dr just dont know much about this med. Thanks

I’ve been in medicine 35 years. If anything you are on less fillers than ever and the main ingredient is the same as you had, just much more of it. The flu has started up already, so I wouldn’t be too concerned until it’s more constant. I still have about 2 mos left of the Mylan my pharmacist found a few months back. Then I’m facing getting approval for the name brand. Did you have your doc put in for it or did you call the insurance directly? Thanks
