Teva Lorazepam Reviews (Page 29)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I'm seeking insights and reviews on Teva Lorazepam and its comparison with Leading Pharma's version. There's a notable divide in user experiences. Some report Leading Pharma Lorazepam as being less effective or having no effect, possibly due to variations in the active ingredient, leading to side effects or adverse reactions in certain cases.

While there are those who recommend Teva Lorazepam for its efficacy, others find Leading Pharma's version more suitable. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to try Teva Lorazepam since it's not available in my area – no local pharmacies dispense it.

My experience with other brands, post the discontinuation of Qualitest, hasn't been successful in finding a comparable alternative. I'm particularly interested in understanding how Teva Lorazepam and Leading Pharma's lorazepam differ in terms of effectiveness and user satisfaction.

If you've had experiences with either or both of these medications, your reviews would be incredibly valuable. Any insights into their efficacy, side effects, or overall satisfaction would greatly help me and others in our decisions.

Re: Lou (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

I agree. I’ve gotten it twice in 6 years, once from CVS and today from Rite Aide. Was surprised, Rite Aide usually has quality products. It is a sugar pill.

Re: JP (# 142) Expand Referenced Message

I finally found a pharmacy that had a supplier other than Leading Pharma. It's a CVS Caremark-run, used to be Eaton so maybe people who are having problems with Leading could try them. Mine is Aurobindo. They work just like I am used to Lorazepam working. I have not heard back on my FDA complaint.

Re: Leebs (# 144) Expand Referenced Message

My Costco last refill switched to Leading....new prescription went back to actavis......Only difference i see is Leading is thicker.......if I concentrate on it...if I believe Leading isn't as effective...it won't be......totally different feeling than i first had with both......when I first trued either...neither one seemed as good as the original Watson (before 2014)....now I try not to dwell on it...they seem okay......considering i've been on Ativan (original) and generic ativan for over 35 years.

Update. Current shortage of Actavis Lorazepam. Pharmacy switched to Leading. Initially was a little jittery, but has since been as effective as Actavis for me.

Re: Richard (# 139) Expand Referenced Message

Thanks for sharing Richard. Long time Lorazepam user (30 years). Still works for me, has been a life saver. Helped me stop drinking. Have used Watson, Actavis (there was about a week adjustment period) & Aurobindo all basically worked the same. No experience with Leading, but did check the pharmacological standards and exactly the same as Actavis. I guess some people react differently. If Leading is your only option, take it slow.. it may take time.

Re: Ken (# 6) Expand Referenced Message

Yes. Some of them absolutely are just sugar pills. I'm having an awful time trying to find something else, either another manufacturer or another medication. In the mean time, I'm worried about going into convulsions because you're NOT supposed to just stop taking these but I KNOW I'm not getting much/any active ingredient in at least half the pills. I hope my doctor has heard of this and can help because I cannot afford the brand name.

Excellus BCBS in central NY, however it’s not on the formulary. My doctor had to file for a prior authorization with Excellus to get it paid for.

Re: Henry (# 138) Expand Referenced Message

Ummm....i've been on a dose of 2mg 3x day for 37 years......including taking the brand when made by Wyeth for 28 of those years......I'm very familiar with different concentrations of active ingredients....getting switched to a different manufacturer can play a huge part in how lorazepam works both physically and psychologically. Yes, the India-made lorazepam is different but not so much the active ingredient but the fillers....the fillers can determine how ones body utilizes the active ingredient.....some have no issues, some do.....that's why on this forum you can read how some swear by the old Mylan, others hated it....some love Actavis....some think its worthless...same with Leading and Major Pharma.......Even the name brand (no longer made by Wyeth)..works great for some but is weak for others.....me among them.....i discovered some old Wyeth-made Ativan the other day in an old travel bag ...despite being over a decade old, it was still quite effective for me- yet name brand Ativan I had for a week...I stopped and went back to Actavis or Leading..I forget which my pharmacy was dispensing at the time because I knew my body was used to those fillers. I don't feel its prudent nor fair to others here for anyone to declare something worthless for everyone because it doesn't work for them. The real culprits here are the manufacturers and doc who first prescribed these meds decades ago (for je) knowing very well they were incredibly addictive yet advertising they were not......I kept the flyer from Wyeth for many years my doc showed me when he was retiring and didn't want his patients on addictive medication. The flyer touted Ativan to be a non-addictive replacement for Valium (which I was taking)...we all know how tgat turned out.

Re: Richard (# 137) Expand Referenced Message

That month+ was you withdrawing to a much lower dosage. I would say 2mg leading is equal to 0.5 brand/mylan. So basically you’re probably on quite a lower dose than on previously. If I were you I would try to stop as you’re not getting much lorazepam anymore with leading, you might not need it and that’s a good thing

Re: Henry (# 136) Expand Referenced Message

Leading works for some, not for others...took me over a month before it worked for me.....not a good idea to presume others will have your experience with it......Leading is manufactured in more than one place.....one us literally around the corner from me..i thought it was just marketing there... i was wrong....some lorazepam IS manufactured in the US....i recently received some from costco...totally different from what i received 2 years ago.

Re: SGB (# 135) Expand Referenced Message

I filed a report with the FDA against Leading lorazepam. Once I ran out of Mylan and all I could get was leading I went into acute benzodiazepine withdrawal. Thank heavens my insurance intervened and paid for the brand name Ativan. Leading=garbage, if you think it works for you it’s all placebo effect. Means you don’t need it anymore, discontinue. Lucky you

Re: Big Joe (# 39) Expand Referenced Message

I found a horrible FDA report from 2013 on Leading.... so many issues from cleanliness, storage. Every step of manufacturing had an insufficient grade. Scarrrry!!!!

Re: Doc21 (# 132) Expand Referenced Message

That’s great news. I am currently on leading and it’s the only thing that works since Mylan was discontinued. I wish doctors understood that we take this medication because of severe anxiety. If we were trying to "dope" ourselves we would be taking Xanax. No offense to anyone it’s just much stronger and a "doping effect" lorazepam wakes me up!

Re: joe (# 121) Expand Referenced Message

the .5 is a joke and the way you can prove it is take an activus 1.0 mg, break it in half, the half will barely work for me but the .5 does nothing

Here's the skinny on what I've found out lately. Leading must have changed their formula. Because I've got some old stuff from last year there's no way I'd take.

Was told this is what your going to use cause its what the military gets in and cost the cheapest. So I took it and right from the start it works. It's not all in my head. Cause I did the blind test.

Here's another thing. Aurobindo just became available through the base pharmacy and it works good as well. Both are close to Mylan. But actually is more effective then Ativan.

I've said it plenty of times there's no way brand name Ativan is the same as it was when Wyeth made it. I've also said I knew it was different just waking up in the morning back in 2004 saying to my spouse something is off. Had no idea there was a change in companies.

So my guess is a lot of you maybe getting the old stock of Leading brand. But I'm willing to bet if y'all get what I've been getting you'll see the change. Least I hope you will.

If any of you guys can get the Aurobindo try it. It works really well. It puts any if the other generics in the dirt but for Mylan in my case.

Again what many have said each of our bodies react differently to each drug. But I'm telling you all Leading must have reformulated.

I can taste the sugar taste in both of the ones I've mentioned but its not like it used to be in last year's Leading brand.

Wish you all good health and stay safe throughout this pandemic we're dealing with.

Ok thanks for the info. I have emblem health and they suck. I’ll reach out to other companies. If there’s a will there’s a way!

Re: A1sauce81 (# 128) Expand Referenced Message

The problem is I don’t think any insurance companies will have brand Ativan on their formularies. It’s a situation if your doctors office can get them to approve it. I have commercial (through employer) BlueCross and they were able to get it approved. Whichever insurance you have now you should ask your doctor to call their prior authorization department and see if they can get it approved for you.
