Teva Lorazepam Reviews (Page 12) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI'm seeking insights and reviews on Teva Lorazepam and its comparison with Leading Pharma's version. There's a notable divide in user experiences. Some report Leading Pharma Lorazepam as being less effective or having no effect, possibly due to variations in the active ingredient, leading to side effects or adverse reactions in certain cases.
While there are those who recommend Teva Lorazepam for its efficacy, others find Leading Pharma's version more suitable. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to try Teva Lorazepam since it's not available in my area – no local pharmacies dispense it.
My experience with other brands, post the discontinuation of Qualitest, hasn't been successful in finding a comparable alternative. I'm particularly interested in understanding how Teva Lorazepam and Leading Pharma's lorazepam differ in terms of effectiveness and user satisfaction.
If you've had experiences with either or both of these medications, your reviews would be incredibly valuable. Any insights into their efficacy, side effects, or overall satisfaction would greatly help me and others in our decisions.
If I ever have to get off it I would use Loreev XR. Smoothest way to taper using an extended release once-a-day lorazepam. You can open the capsules and make smaller ones yourself or I would have a compound pharmacist do it. Write out a slooow 9 month taper that very gradually lowers the dosage.
I can't take Leading Pharma. It's not effective and has horrible side effects. I now get Teva. Not as good as Watson which Teva bought out I believe. Actavis is supposedly a good alternative but can't get in Arizona. I'm not sure what's going on with Lorazepam but Walmart can't get any brand except Leading. Walgreens has some issues but can order for me. Once in a while they fill with Leading. I have to verify the drug company before I purchase it.
Re: Jinbs55 (# 626)
What did Aurobindo do to lorazepam? I was doing well on it but my last refill this month feels completely different. What do I do?
Re: Placebo Pharma 0 (# 647)
Ugh so sorry to read. Reminds me of 2018 when mylan and sandoz discontinued making lorazepam. I’d recommend having your doctor try to get brand name Ativan prior authorization with your insurance or possibly Loreev a time released once a day lorazepam. Be well my friend, sorry for the pain you’re in
Re: sleeplessInAZ (# 649)
Watson was bought by actavis back around 2014......they bought the molds too....never altered the formula.....so though pills still said Watson on them they were made by actavis until actavis sold its lorazepam production to Teva. Teva did change the molds but not the formula when it was manufactured in Israel. But then Teva outsourced production to the Czech Republic and I have no idea if anything changed officially but I sure noticed a difference before I knew they had done so. As far as I know its still made there....I've been on lorazepam 2mg 3x day for over 40 years....back when the name brand was made by Wyeth and it was incredibly effective...when I lost insurance coverage at retirement (I'm 76 now) I began with the original Watson generic which I found as effective as Wyeth's Ativan. In my area it's nearly impossible to get anything but Leading....I know the fillers are different so it's not as effective as other generics for many, but I guess I'm one of the lucky ones - It works for me (though if I was really 'lucky' I wouldn't need it in the first place).
Re: sleeplessInAZ (# 651)
Compared to the current generics brand is night and day different. It is $$$$ but if you doctor can get it approved on your insurance it’ll be a tier 3 (top) fixed co-pay. Also consider Loreev XR. It’s a brand name but much cheaper than brand name Ativan and might be easier to get insurance approval for. Outside of those two that’s all I can think of for lorazepam, next would be Xanax or Klonopin switch.
It really varies from person to person, so there is not specific best pill that you can be told about.
The FDA warns that Lorazepam carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as dizziness, headache, nausea, mood changes, and irritability.
What are the markings on the tablets you are currently taking? Can you please post back and clarify, so I can research more details for you?
Re: Twig7 (# 4)
After emailing Mylan with my concerns, they called the very next morning and said the nationwide backorder will be filled and back on the market as of May 21. So hoping my refill on June 4 will be back to the 1 mg without this disruption. I have severe panic attacks and also weaning off pain meds I feel I just can do with a much lower dose now, so the Ativan is much needed for two major issues. I was promised they filled 0.5 mg lorazepam to replace the 1 mg twice a day and when I got home realized it was Watson and not Mylan. I am extremely upset that they lied to me, but Watson did have a good reputation before then. Through this site I found out Watson is no longer making lorazepam so either Sandoz or Actavis is making it and stamping with Watson’s label... Good luck.
Re: Twig7 (# 13)
I have some bad news. My pharmacist just informed me on the computer it’s telling him Mylan is discontinuing the lorazepam. I told him I emailed Mylan on May 3, and rec’d a call on May 4 from a patient rep who told me the backorder would be stocked by May 21. Somebody has incorrect info. I sent Mylan a new email just now asking that they contact me ASAP as I have a refill due in 4 days and need info. If you have any new info since our last conversation please let me know. This Watson brand I’m finishing up with used to be a reputable company, but my nerves are super bad and I feel horrible.
I have updated info from my pharmacist on where the lorazepam stands as of today, August 25. The Qualitest that was mentioned a few posts ago, can’t remember who it was, but they were bought out by Par. So it may not be the formula Qualitest used. I would ask to try a couple before filling and getting stuck with a month of garbage. Also, Watson I noticed wasn’t working last time and always did before, I believe he said Teva is now filling the Watson brand. Thank goodness this pharmacist has hidden the Mylan 0.5 for me, which has about 500 left, but I’m doubling the dose as I take 1 mg twice a day, so these won’t last long. It’s awful to have anxiety and not have anything that works anymore. He did say that very few companies are making this and Leading is still the main one. My friend whose been on this for years also, did find a small family owned pharmacy who had a bottle of 1000 of the Mylan 1 mg, he opened not long ago and doesn’t have many people coming in for this so she got very lucky. I suggest to all of you to go to these small family owned pharmacies, avoid CVS, Walgreens, RiteAid, etc. as they’re corporate owned and have to go by rules of ordering the cheapest which right now is Leading. I’ve written and complained to them, who put the blame on Rugby/Major who says it’s their formula. Maybe if we all do that we can get something resolved. If it was a BP or diabetic med, you bet they’d be all over fixing this problem. Prayers for a calmer day ahead for us all. Whitney Williford is the rep who responded from Leading and gave me the phone # for Rugby/Major who is making this Leading garbage! Good luck
Re: Deedee (# 21)
Just me again. I just got off the phone with Major pharmaceuticals, Rugby laboratories, and Leading pharmaceuticals. They are all distributors, they don’t make the lorazepam, but they have to record all of our complaints and they supposedly take them very seriously, he said the more complaints, the more likely something will be done to fix it. He said to go into the pharmacy and get the NDC which is national drug code, which will direct us right to where the complaints need to be made. 00904 is Major; 00536 is Rugby. The website for complaints is majorpharmaceuticals.com or rugbylaboratories.com and there is a contact area. I bet if we all start emailing with complaints directly to them instead of FDA, something may get done. Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel!!
Re: Kathie (# 23)
I’m on Leading now 100%...still waiting to see if there will be another shoe to drop.....thus far I’m actually sleeping better than with the Watson.....and since Watson will be available in early August when I get a new prescription I’m not sure which to choose....Leading (with the bad reviews on this forum) or Watson (which apparently gets some bad reviews here too).
Re: BigJoe (# 25)
Sounds like Leading is definitely not for everyone. I’ve been taking it now for 3 months (mixed with 1 Watson at night until 2 weeks ago...)..2 mg 3x day.....if anything I feel calmer and sleeping better since i’ve been taking it......oh, one thing I wanted to ask....in early posts people stated with Leading that they felt anxious or had panic attacks........in all the years (decades) I took the name brand Ativan...my anxiety never stopped nor did panic attacks until I actually accepted the attacks as part of my life and i’d just have to live with them. For some reason they then stopped. I don’t question it, I just accept it....i’ve never taken a drug (Valium, Ativan or an SSRI) that actually stopped panic attacks. So my question is, before you switched to 'Leading'....was *whatever* lorazepam you were taking actually stopping panic attacks?
Re: BigJoe (# 25)
Thank God I’ve found another person who understands what several of us have tried so hard to get complaints going. If you scroll down to my last post a few days ago I got the direct complaint sites for this “sugar” tasting garbage Leading brand of lorazepam. It sounds like you’re serious about filing complaints. I’m diabetic and it tasted like pure sugar. I decided to try it for one month since nothing else was available. Gabby and I have been on this thread trying to get as much help complaining to whoever will listen. I’m hoping the post with all the phone numbers and websites will help. Good luck..
My cvs just changed from Mylan to Leading for Lorezapam. It is nothing more than a sugar pill. I don't know what to do about it.
Re: Dar (# 31)
Give it a try without preconceptions nor anything you’ve read here.....keep in mind...those who find it works for them don’t write about how it doesn’t work nor do they necessarily even google it....I’ve been on lorazepam (Ativan or generic) since 1982.. 2mg 3x day...... upon retiring (sort of) 6 years ago I started generic (Watson)...three months ago I got Leading brand because the pharmacy said they couldn’t get Watson (they can now i’ve been told).....so I stupidly Googled it.....nevertheless I read posts here and thought ‘oh s***’....well...I took it anyway-mixing it with the few Watson’s I had left......now 4 weeks on 100% Leading.....keeping in mind no lorazepam..not even brand name EVER quelled my anxiety 100%.....and a few times during the months I was mixing them I felt anxious and thought “aha! see- the Leading isn’t as good”...turns out I had taken all Watson that day, lol....with Leading..I do find sometimes I wash out sooner...other times I actually go past my usual dosage time (with lorazepam....at my dosage ...you KNOW...when it is washing out....)....with no issues....and I’m sleeping better. I just got a new prescription..and frankly i’m in a quandary about whether I should go for Leading or Watson......(yes..Watson DISTRIBUTED by Actavis......Actavis does not manufacture lorazepam...it distributes it).
Re: Deedee (# 32)
Thank you. I started reading after I posted. I called my pharmacist and he said I could get the Mylan if my Dr. ordered 1mg instead of .5 and I could cut in half. After reading some of this stuff I am realizing that how awful I have felt in the last week (headaches, memory worse, cognitive) is probably from this bad medicine. Except for this pill I am finally on NO maintenance meds. Can't wait to be off this too. God knows I am trying.
Re: Richard (# 33)
thank you. I take it for sleep only so just take at night. Couldn't figure out why it wasn't working then I remembered this article. When I originally read it I was not taking Leading. I used to get Ativan for many years. The Brand name is very cost prohibitive. I am taking L-Tryptophan from Bulk supplements and it is really working. Hoping that in time I won't need the Lorezepam.
Re: BigJoe (# 25)
thanks for sharing all of this. I thought I was getting sick with something terrible in the last 5 days I took this pill. My husband was getting concerned. It is nothing but sugar and additives. I doubt there is any active ingredient in this pill. I took 2 together and it made no difference. Maybe this company is figuring that the placebo effect will be in place...or something crazy like that.
Re: Dar (# 36)
The companies out of the country especially are allowed to cut the main ingredient by up to 20% and that is quite a big dose!! Rugby Labs/Major Pharmaceuticals are the companies distributing for Leading. I was told we need to forward all complaints to their websites!!
