Hi Dale,

Was there any specific drug in general you were thinking of?

I found a list of drugs that can test positive for Barbiturates, however to my knowledge it may not be a complete list:

NOTE: the list is not just on Barbiturates, but a wide range of false positives, so you will have to skim through the page to find the drugs you are looking for.

I know this is old but i tested positive for barbiturates. I have never taken them. Wondering if anything I'm on can produce a false positive.

I have taken a drug test today and tested positive for barbiturates. I take zanex on a regular basis as well as seriquil and suboxone. Recently I was put under anesthesia that took two days to feel normal. I am not sure why the drugs I am taking especially the zanex I took last night did not show in the screen but I am positive for a barbiturate. Is there any reason ?

Can Paroxetine and Clonidine hcl and Tagamet show a false positive for Barbituates

I take Doxepin for sleep but although it is a Tricyclic, it shows up positive for barbituates on the Profile V MedTox drug screen. It should not because it is a entirely different classification of drug but it does.

my daughter is in methadone program x 3 years. she tested + for barbiturates in random drug test. Denies using. She does use medication for allergies and asthma.

I keep testing positive on my urine tests for barbiturates and am not using any but I am on Topamax,zantac and doxepin as well as methadone maintenance can someone please tell me why this is happening for I am on probation and do not wan to be violated for something I did not use

Except due the anesthesia part the rest of mine is exactly the same I take a benzodiazepine and suboxone and tested neg for benzos but positive for barbiturates but I didn't even knew what drugs were barbiturates until they gave me my results and I asked. What is the answer please, this is being held against me from the VA!!!

Is quetapine a barbiturate... it definitely looks s sedative? I know it is used to control anxiety.

Zanex is a barbituate. That is why you tested positive.

Xanex is not a barbiturate; it is a benzodiazepine.

Yes zanax is a benzo and benzos are in drug class of barbituates just like hydros are narcotics and in opiate drug class. Google it says everything you need to know

Its xanax not zanax. And it is valium family , of benzo . Not barbituate

I had a urine test done and it was at a work release center and they said i tested positive for barbiturates and thc and i have never taken any drugs but what they give me here Could you give me a list of meds that would cause this. They sent my urine to the lab to be checked again

No benzos are NOT A CLASS OF BARBITURATES..Benzos are Xanax, Klonopins... Librium.... BARBITURATES are 60's drugs you can't even get on the street lol...Unless your in a time machine and go to Woodstock in the '60's lol... Seconal... Tuanal..... Black beauties etc...I too am on probation and just got a false positive on probation while in JAIL....Can be an inhaler, weight gain or loss products...Biggest false positives out of all categories?

No Xanax is not a barbiturate it is a benzodiazepine.

Not true! Fioricet, Fiorinol and other older but still popular (much more effective than newer options) migraine medication has 50/325/40 (50mg Butalbital, 325mg Tylenol & 40mg Caffeine).

I take monthly random drug tests at my methadone clinic and have had no positive tests in 1 and a half years. Now I come up positive for barbiturates on my past drug screen a couple of days ago. Can seroquel or buspar be the cause of this?

Does anyone know what can bring up a false positive for barbiturates? I'm taking suboxone, cymbalta, tamoxifen, neurontin, seroquel, bentyl, melatonin, vistaril, prenatal vitamins, fleet suppositories, and oxybutynin. Please if you can help I'd greatly appreciate it because I'm in a recovery house and I can get kicked out for this. I've been clean for 25 days as of today and was in the psych ward for 2 weeks before I got here. I also came up positive for alcohol and haven't drank in 15 years. The only thing that I use besides my meds is hand sanitizer and someone said that could come up as alcohol.
