My doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?

I was sick for days after being on methadone for a few months, then taking subutex.

That's only because u wernt on the percs very long. When I first switched from methadone to subutex, I was very sick for days.

This is Such B.s...I have Crohns an When i was in the hospital for my bowel resection...They Was giving me 4mgs of dilaudid every 4hrs...waiting 2hrs then giving me 4 mgs of bupe...an this was done over an over for 2weeks...So i kno this non sense is jus a Doc myth...

And suboxone= buepanorphine+naloxone. Its the naloxone that makes people sick.

As i speak i have taken oxycintin an subutex,started today with 40 mg oxy and 2 hours later snorting 2mg buprenorfin/subutex,i have no withdrawals at all,so you probably will be just fine mixing them,but word of advise is dont take any of the s*** if you dont need it,its gonna give more pain than pleasure when you get addicted.

I feel you completely, I was snorting 10 to 15 oxy 20 to 30mg a day and I went through hell. I was special ops for many years and have felt pain, so im not a pussy. So for those who think opt DTs are a joke,lol go ahead and do em but let me warn you if you cross them in any way meaning trying to break it off the oxy will make you PAY IN FULL, that 6 day cold turkey withdrawl was the worst pain ive felt in my life. So if u think why dont people just say im done and walk away like its easy, go ahead and test the proven facts of physical dependency.be warned this isnt a game if given a chance this s*** will drive u to the brink of insanity, from the physical pain and the mental angush ull be lucky if u will break free.These things will creep on you your soul will be its.it will make you forget your morals, f*** your friends,it will ravish you and will take ur hand and personally take you to hell.

I have been taking 8mgs 4 /morning 4/evening of suboxone for several yrs for chronic pain . Before I took tramdol which doc said was not addictive, but had to go off(although was very good pain reliever for me) as I became very very dizzy. Eventually I was put of suboxone both to alleviate the withdrawal from tramadol(was pretty bad so much for it not being addictive- took about 4 to 6 50 mgs per day) & to help long term with chronic pain.
Then I had incidents of pulmonary emboli blood clots that pass threw the heart and fill up the lungs-- (a shower of emboli I should say) and was put on 10 mgs warfarin...after the 2nd incident -- warfarin for life still 10 mgs. Blood thinners (warfarin) are not a joke-- I know how dangerous...either can bleed internally or the blood can clot and adhere to an artery and cause heart attack, stroke, & at times immediate death. Apparently the combo is ok but at times I feel as I did when an incident was coming on - tightness in chest , difficulty breathing...nuvigil - a so- called "safe' stimulant I take when the warfarin causes extreme fatigue- a common side effect. I hate narcotics like coedine -- make me sick , hate how I feel, & tramadol helped with the pain but I never liked how it made me feel. The Suboxone I do not feel anything at all like being high and it dulls but does not eliminate pain.Nuvigil is terrific for driving..keeps one alert
#2) I worry about anything that could interact with the warfarin and either cause bleeding or make the blood thicker so it clots . Could suboxone along with nuvigil intereact in a negative way with warfarin?
FINALLY, WOULd LOVE TO KNOW THIS DEFINITIVELY)_
3) I worry about suboxone if I would need a surgery.
Are you all saying that it is ok to take narcotics if on suboxone. But not ok to take suboxone if on narcotics because until you have stopped the narcotics X amount of time & until you are feeling some symptoms of withdrawl suboxone would then cause a massive withdrawal. Since I am only on suboxone & do not take any other pain killers if I had to have surgery or had an accident, could I take any drugs be it anasthesia or pain meds following surgery? In otherwords, taking suboxone, other pain relievers ok. If on narcotics, suboxone not ok (until one begins to go into withdrawal). If on suboxone, the effects of the narcotics may not be felt. Is it that if enough is taken will override the nalaxone and then they could be effective?
I too would like to be on subutdex. I never had an addicition proble but I think my doc is afraid that it will reflect badly on her if she prescribes subutex. Is there generic subutex? I just moved an am feeling very alone, frightened and no physician I have approached wants to care for me because they feel I am a risk (liability). Thanks you - sorry so long...

ive been on/off roxi 30's for 2-3 yrs, suboxone/subutex on and off when i didnt have anything. I am finally moved out on my own trying to do good. last week i did about 6 30's a day for about 5 days, then took a day off, and started subutex, somehow this time i am only snorting maybe .25mg of a sub, im on my second day and my stomach hurts, a little anxiety, and maybe a hot flash from time to time, but everything else seems to be fine. I am barely doing any sub, just enough to ease withdrawls so i can work, should i continue for a couple of days at the same rate? or should i try not to take anything? i always feel like i need to double dose when i get sick just to feel better. Im always so scared to withdrawl that i end up snorting something before i feel bad. do i jump? keep it up for a few days? try to do less and less?
I feel like im almost there, what should i do?

Suboxone is used for widthdrawl and subutex is used for pain. I've never really heard anyone being on subutex (generic is called bupronorphine) for widthdrawls but I take it for pain, which sounds the same for you. It will cause widthdrawls if you take the Suboxone after most other opiates. Iv'ing is not what causes the naloxalone ( the other ingredient in Suboxone) to strip off agonists ( opiates) in your receptors. I know a lot of people who have iv'ed suboxones and do not get widthdrawls. Any opiates they give you for surgery will not cause Wds but if you have taken a dose within 24-36 hours, the pk they gave you will not work (tell them you're taking it and they will give you something that will work). So moral of my message is if you are hospitalized, make sure that's the first thing they know.

Subutext has a mass dose of just 32mg...it is definetly no way the strongest pain killer...I work at a klinik in Sweden.

The subutex will work just fine. Morphine is a short acting agonist, and subutex is a long term partial agonist and partial antagonist. In some people, taking Suboxone after morphine wil cause Wds and most people say that they won't feel other opiates after subutex, but taking subutex after morphine should not affect the subs at all. If you do for some reason get Wds, let us know as that is rare. I myself have even taken subutex after oxycodone and was just fine. Subs will make a lot of opiates not work, but there are few opiates that will stop buprenorphine ( like naltrexone). Anymore questions let us know as we are watching this thread.

It is stronger than the opiates he listed, and it is pretty potent as far as the usual prescribed drugs go. The opiates you mentioned I have never tried or seen, nor have my friends tried them. I have heard of them though. There are a LOT of opiates out there. But since US uses only a few for most people, subutex is actually on the higher side of strength. I wish we had more choices, but ATM we don't.

You won't get sick if you take any painkiller with subutex. It had no opiate blocker in it. It's is often times given to addicts during detox, so that it will not induce the patients full withdrawal symptoms. This is the opposite as far as suboxone is concerned.
