Taking Subutex And Percocet Together (Page 16) (Top voted first)

My doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?

I was and am an addict was on opanas 40mg 5 times a day for a year straight before that oxys for 5 years. I hit my rock bottom I say "MY" Cause everyone has different rock bottoms and limits. I got on suboxone and was on it for 3 years straight 12 mg. I got kicked out of my program for missing two n/a meetings in a 14 day span they are very strict there. Anyways I drank 1 beer and was put into withdrawl immediately!! For 7 days it was bad. So I thought if I can do that I can come off the suboxone and not worry about finding a dr. Well I went 19 days without nothing and it about killed me. I ended up relapsing. I started taking roxy 30s after a month I knew I had to stop. I immediatly took suboxone after taking my last roxy. 30 min. Later WAS NOT THROWN IN WITHDRAWL! ! Ive also during last year would do roxys then subutex was not thrown into withdrawl! !! My thought of it is the first time coming off suboxone and was thrown into withdrawl was cause I was taking it everyday 3 years straight same dose. Where the other times with suboxone/subutex I was only on short time my body was AS DEPENDENT is my guess. Since all that relapse bs. I have gotten into another program and on suboxone only 3 mg and dosing down!! It has by far one of the worst withdrawals I'd ever had been through. Thos is jud t my personal experience. Thought I would share. It may help a little

Thanks for the great info, Bastian! So my next question is... How much is a lower amount of Subutex? At my dosage of about 60-80mg a day of oxycodone, I never abuse the amounts, just take it throughout the day starting at 10am. If I want to get off of these, will I have horrible withdrawals or could I ween off? I'd like to stop altogether and use something else for pain. On a scale from 1-10 how deep am I? I've just never really known. Thanks in advance.

80 mg of oxy a day is pretty mild.. 400-500 mg is pretty bad.. You could try to taper off but very few ppl actually have the willpower to take even less when they already feel bad. Most subutex are 8mg pills but in your case if you were to wait 24 hrs, or as long as you possibly can, you could take 4 or maybe even 2mg to start. Tapering with subutex/suboxone is much easier because they last so long(half life of 24 hrs)

You would def go through withdrawal though tanner.. I would try switching to subs and taper off that way.. Just make sure u wait as long as u can before taking subs

I have been strung out on opiates for 15 years. I take subutex right after opiates and so does my boyfriend and we don't have withdrawal. Now this is with subutex. I have been trying to get off the opiates with subutex but my boyfriend and me neither one have enough energy to work taking subutex. Why is that? Is anyone else like that. He is a construction worker and he has no energy to go to work just taking subutex. We are supposed to take a half of a 8mg pill 3 times a day. It keeps us from s***ting on ourselves or throwing up. I mean it keeps the heavy withdrawals away but we don't feel good at 100% taking subutex. Do you think it's because we are such heavy drug users for so long? We are so up set that the subutex doesn't work like we thought it would. We don't have insurance and have paid out of pocket to see the doctor and to get the subutex filled which isn't cheap. What is every one else's experience with taking the subutex? Do you feel great with energy? Why haven't the subutex worked for us?

To take subtext or sub with methadone you should be lowered to 30 mill's for at least a week to 10 days before taking either one and you will more than likely have withdrawal still.

I would wait atleast 12 is my rule of thumb. Longer the better. Subutex has put me into withdrawel a couple times taking it too early. If you have no subutex in your system, and have been using opioids for a couple days straight, there have been times ive waited 24 hrs and gotten immediately sick.

All anyone ever does is argue about if you will go into withdrawal taking subutex or suboxone. Any time I've asked questions that have to do with anything they're just ignored. It's crazy. I want to get clean. I don't know where to turn to get the answers I need to my questions? I have asked my doctor, the pharmacy, every body gives different answers and there not even answers to my questions. God Bless everyone in there recovery but I need some answers.

Please go to this site naabt.org. It tells you there that BOTH suboxone and subutex can send you into Pwdrls if you do not wait long enough. Everyone needs to be careful giving out "facts" that are not actual facts. It puts peoples lives in danger. You can die going through wd.

Yes it does, before I met my gf, long before, she used to take subutex (used to be an opiate addict). She said 4-6 hours after dosing she could take her opiates again. Everyone is different.

The first time I took subs before work, I got great relief at around 12 mg. coming from 5-6 roxi 30s a day. That day I took 12 mg, and a 15 mg before work. I felt like how I'd usually feel, except maybe a cleaner opioid "effect". But no sick feelings, no withdrawal, nada. After that I just stuck to subs. Now it's been 2+ years with full agonist opioids :).

Please stick with the suboxies...best route for recovery...oh hell yea..i went crazy with that was on subox strips and took a 10 mill of methadone and i locked up was miserable for 10 hrs...nothing fased it i took 30 mills of perks was like an asperin...DONT DO THIS..

I have a friend that takes a small piece of sub with 2 perks and finds a medium he likes..so i think its the person. I've been on perk 7.5 x 3 a day for 5 plus yrs. i don't stray as im fearful of what will happen.. I loved my cannabis and the snow storms were fantastic so i pray to stay where i am. Also I take 10 mills of methadone 3x a day and what im reading about it scared me bad...

I take subtext not suboxone. And it's the pill 8mg. I'm supposed to take a half one in the morning and half at night. I tried going to work like I said with nothing but taking the subtext and I was to weak to work and got sent home because I couldn't hardly work. I had no energy. I'm really upset about it. I paid out of pocket for the subtext and the doctor visit. And I haven't stop getting high because I don't want to lose my job because I'm to weak to work
