Taking Subutex And Percocet Together (Page 15) (Top voted first)

My doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?

I have been on subutex for a month I quit taking it yesterday and did a morphine today I didn't feel the morphine at all I was wanting to know is it safe to still do my subutex tonight

Jane from message 133...What is your problem! I can not believe that you would risk the baby's health just because you "kept your faith in god". I, myself am an addict and i could never live with myself if i did something like that! The fact that nothing too major happened to your child does NOT make this OK. I would maybe try to rethink having anymore children until you figure out how to be a decent parent/human being! You should really be ashamed of yourself! You make me sick and you need some serious help!

Suboxone & Perc together sounds more like self medicating than it does an actual prescribed treatment. Unless you did not inform the doctor you were already using one. Suboxone is a pain killer alone & not quite effective only if the dosage is not high enough to help withdrawal. However, when taken w/ Percocet, not only are you defeating the purpose you are adding to the problem.

That wasn't withdrawal, you just got to high. There could have been some withdrawal if you were eating the percs and then the sub, but IM pretty sure that in doesn't work the other way round.

I have used Percocet and Subutex for 2 years. I have never had ANY withdrawls. I quit taking the Percs a week ago, Im trying to figure put how things go without the Percocet. No withdrawls to report. I have to say unequivically with no qualifications or caveates the Percocet has helped with the pain. I have an undiagnosed autoimmune disease, Im just another Vet that is dying from something yet they can't figure ot what it is or how I got it. By the way, the VA does nothing for me. I have severe chronic pain that spikes right after Ive been active. I have bad headaches too. The Percocet doesnt touch the headaches, I don't know why. I do get relief from the wicked pain in my back, hips and legs. My immune system is now compromised and I get monthly IGG infusions. I'm screwed, yet everybody blows a gasket when I take the cocktail that gives me relief. Anyway TMI, I am sharing my experience with Percocet and Subutex.

I've been on subutex last 2 days to come off oxy. I took 16 mg total yesterday and my last dose was 4 mg at about 8 am this morning. It is now almost 2 pm and I want to take a per comet for pain. Will the per comet work since it's been 6 hours since I took the subutex? Or do you think it's still bound to the receptors? If I take more percs do you think the sheer amount will allow me to feel the effects of the percs?

HELP! I've been on H almost daily for 5 months now. I've been off H for 3 full days, just 10mg Percocet. How long before I can take suboxone before getting thrown into full wd. I won't do that again, ever! Need advice asap. Only have 2 Percocet left

I took 20 MG's of percocet around 11:30 today when is it safe to take my Subutex?? Please help I messed up by taking perks I hate being an addict :( trying my best tough!! I've never done H. it's taking too many loved ones from me!!

Yes. I've never had any problems switching back and forth btwn suboxone and subutext. They do have a very long half life, so you should still feel fine when you get your script. You can wait until you start to feel the effects of it wearing off if it'll make you feel more secure. I don't have a script, so trying to stay clean, I take what I can find and sometimes it's one, sometimes the other.

hi...I literally just about an hour ago took two 20 mlgs of oxy codone and 2 5mlgs of oxy contin. I took 4 mlgs of subtex at 9 this morning. it's 8 pm now. I am not in withdrawal and I just barely notice the oxi pills just barely so there you go ,.

I have been on 12mg of buprenorphine a day But..... I have dental surgery going on as we speak. I have been prescribed vicodin 10/325 I feel fine and pain under control, that is taking them a few hours apart. CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY WITH MY CONCERN? ??? THANKS

Suboxone doesn't contain narcan but is a combination of Buprenorphine/Naloxone. Subutex is just Buprenorphine.. Personally have taken Subutex with opiates(oxy, hydrocodone, etc) and never experienced withdrawal but would never advise anyone to combine these medications because you will simply not get any relief from the oxy as Subutex like suboxone will fill the opiate receptors and is still a blocker jus doesn't have the Naloxone in it which is what causes people to withdrawal. This it is recommended to wait 36-48 hrs before taking Suboxone after an opiate has been ingested.. My doc explained it as its ok to go from opiates to Suboxone and not waiting the full 24-48 hrs as most opiates only have lasting effect of 6-8 hours but to never go from Suboxone to opiates WITHOUT waiting the full half life of Suboxone which is a minimum of 36 hours. So long story short, when you combine Subutex with opiates it's as good as flushing them down the toilet which is easier on your liver as the perc and subutex will strain your liver and thus feeling nothing from the opiates.

Suboxone has naloxone in it not narcan. While subutex is just straight bupronorphrine.

You won't get sick. I've taken subutex and opiates 1 hour later. I've also taken subs and diazepam right after so your ok buddy, no worries. Just don't take the percocet and 10 minutes later take the subutex. You have to wait for the perc to be gone and be going into detox.

Everyone is different. I have fibro and am prescribed subutex. I had some percocet left over from a previous prescription and took that shortly after taking subutex because I needed more pain relief. The combination actually got me pretty dizzy.

Just did 4 mg subutex today in 4 1mg doses nasal.....waited two hours just ate 15 mg if vicodone....I feel fine....subutex is not like suboxone....there's no receptor inhibitor in subutex....its just like mixing percs n vikes or morphine n codene...its like mixing ibuprophen with Tylenol.... They don't do anything to diminish the effects it enhances the effects....NO withdrawal...on subutex n any opiate...its just gonna amplify they effect if the subutex.... Be careful you don't want to get your blood serum levels too high u cud stop breathing depending in how high u dose urself..... SUBOXoNE is the one you need to fear...if ur taking subutex I say again subutex....your ok....have a blast! Damn u ppl... Ur Dr. Is correct...they will work together n make a better pain killer.... It's like Pepsi n vodka haha... Yea they mix well....

You only go through withdrawl is you take a sub after the perc. Not vise versa

You are wrong. Subutex does not produce euphoric effects. Obviously you read to much and don't experiment. I've been prescribed for over a year. I'll bet my life on it.
