Taking Subutex And Percocet Together (Page 13) (Top voted first)

My doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?

You can take pain meds with subutex just not suboxone.i read several web sites and they all say that.

I did fine taking buprenorphine (Subutex) after 10 hours, just when I was getting uncomfortable. I hope this helps you

You must be in withdrawal before taking anything with Bupe in it! If not you go full in withdrawal and it will be very uncomfortable.

If you want to take Percs why would you want Subutex too?????makes no sense. If you want to be straight take the Subutex only. Nothing else. It will stop the cravings, and withdrawals. Proven fact. I know personally. I choose to think right, not high and goofy. I guess it's depends on ones needs. You can't be half sober. One or the other. I wish you well. Hope you deside to kick it. Subutex will change your life.

Question 1: Combination suboxone, warfarin (coumadin), nuvigil anyone? READ ON PLEASE SEVERAL QUESTIONS FOR ANYONE PATIENT!

I have been taking 8mgs 4 /morning 4/evening of suboxone for several yrs for chronic pain . Before I took tramdol which doc said was not addictive, but had to go off(although was very good pain reliever for me) as I became very very dizzy. Eventually I was put of suboxone both to alleviate the withdrawal from tramadol(was pretty bad so much for it not being addictive- took about 4 to 6 50 mgs per day) & to help long term with chronic pain.

Then I had incidents of pulmonary emboli blood clots that pass threw the heart and fill up the lungs-- (a shower of emboli I should say) and was put on 10 mgs warfarin...after the 2nd incident -- warfarin for life still 10 mgs. Blood thinners (warfarin) are not a joke-- I know how dangerous...either can bleed internally or the blood can clot and adhere to an artery and cause heart attack, stroke, & at times immediate death. Apparently the combo is ok but at times I feel as I did when an incident was coming on - tightness in chest , difficulty breathing...nuvigil - a so- called "safe' stimulant I take when the warfarin causes extreme fatigue- a common side effect. I hate narcotics like coedine -- make me sick , hate how I feel, & tramadol helped with the pain but I never liked how it made me feel. The Suboxone I do not feel anything at all like being high and it dulls but does not eliminate pain.Nuvigil is terrific for driving..keeps one alert

#2) I worry about anything that could interact with the warfarin and either cause bleeding or make the blood thicker so it clots . Could suboxone along with nuvigil intereact in a negative way with warfarin?

3) I worry about suboxone if I would need a surgery.
Are you all saying that it is ok to take narcotics if on suboxone. But not ok to take suboxone if on narcotics because until you have stopped the narcotics X amount of time & until you are feeling some symptoms of withdrawl suboxone would then cause a massive withdrawal. Since I am only on suboxone & do not take any other pain killers if I had to have surgery or had an accident, could I take any drugs be it anasthesia or pain meds following surgery? In otherwords, taking suboxone, other pain relievers ok. If on narcotics, suboxone not ok (until one begins to go into withdrawal). If on suboxone, the effects of the narcotics may not be felt. Is it that if enough is taken will override the nalaxone and then they could be effective?
I too would like to be on subutdex. I never had an addicition proble but I think my doc is afraid that it will reflect badly on her if she prescribes subutex. Is there generic subutex? I just moved an am feeling very alone, frightened and no physician I have approached wants to care for me because they feel I am a risk (liability). Thanks you - sorry so long...

ive been on/off roxi 30's for 2-3 yrs, suboxone/subutex on and off when i didnt have anything. I am finally moved out on my own trying to do good. last week i did about 6 30's a day for about 5 days, then took a day off, and started subutex, somehow this time i am only snorting maybe .25mg of a sub, im on my second day and my stomach hurts, a little anxiety, and maybe a hot flash from time to time, but everything else seems to be fine. I am barely doing any sub, just enough to ease withdrawls so i can work, should i continue for a couple of days at the same rate? or should i try not to take anything? i always feel like i need to double dose when i get sick just to feel better. Im always so scared to withdrawl that i end up snorting something before i feel bad. do i jump? keep it up for a few days? try to do less and less?
I feel like im almost there, what should i do?

I took a 60 mg morphine this morning bc my subutex were stolen and this afternoon finally I will b able to get my subs filled!will my subutex still work even though I've taken a morphine this morning?!i don't want to waste it if its not going to work bc I took the morphine earlier today!anyone who can help please let me know!!thanks

I think subutex is way better then soboxen I'm on soboxen and have been for like 2 yrs off and on and when I first started getting off the dope they put me on subutex and I did so good until they started giving me soboxen and said subutex only if someone was pregnant so yea I have been relapsing off and on since. So if u can get subutex get it its great

Can subutex be taken with Coumadin ? Please can someone help out with this as my husband just got out of the hospital for pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis after three months between señor one ans naltrexone... Was also curious as to if these meds can cause these ailments...thanks so much for your help in advance :).

alright Im outta subutex 2 x 8mg /day and starting to get the flush hot cold feeling can I have hrdrocodone 5mg?? its been almost 36 hrs I kno im not gonna feel it but I dnt wanna even start getting sick.

You can take them together. I have documentation explaining it. Your doc is correct. Sometimes it will take about 3 times the dose of the perc to bump the sub off the receptor.

it's because Tramadol (Ultram) works on the Norpenephrine and Seratonin part of your neurotransmitters, Much like an Anti-Depressant.
Tramadol changes the way you experience pain..

I have been taking Percocet and clonzopam for years. I tried a suboxone to see how it would do for me. could one subuxone strip have resulted in a negative urine analysis with my pain management doctor which got me dismissed altogether

To my understanding, (as a 5yr Suboxone user) if you take your recommended dose every day of suboxone NO narcotic will have ANY effect on you. It takes minimally 3 days off them to feel the effect of a narcotic, and BELIEVE me when I started the program and asked my doc, "so what would happen if I took five perks or oxys while im on this suboxone?" His reply "it (the narcotics) will have little to no effect on you". So naturally I had to see for myself and took just that, 5 or 6 percs. And...... NOTHING, and I mean absolutely no buzz no nothing but a waste of a perfectly good would be high lol!! I have never heard of a Dr prescribing both to use together unless it was for some kind of "placebo" mind "thing" (in place of the four letter word I really wanted to use there lol)

I have the same fear. What if I had some kind of an accident where I needed pain relief? Three days is a really long time to wait for a painkiller to work. My Dr. let me try the buprenorphine without the naloxone. I complained because it dissolves slower and tasted even worse than the suboxone but now if that what I am hearing is correct I think I had better revisit that idea. When I started the suboxone program I had to be off all narcotics for a min of 48hrs. I was in the clinic for hours as they monitored how I was feeling to figure what dosage was correct for me. I now take the suboxone for migraine pain. It has cut my chronic migraine down at least 75% so its very worth it for me. I recently searched the internet and found 2mg bupernorphine for $1 ea. ($30) for shipping and no Dr script involved. Best of luck to you.
