Taking Soma With Kadian . Is It Ok ?

Does anyone know of any interactions between Ms cotin and soma ?

Soma (Carisoprodol) is known to interact with MS Contin (Morphine) ... So to answer the question in the title, NO it is probably NOT SAFE.

Caution is advised when taking either of these medications, recommended to be taken under the supervision of your doctor. Do you have any other questions or information to add? Please post back if you do...

I am mad now, because I asked all of my M.D.'s and pharmacists to check all my meds for interactions. Do you know of a site that says that they do interact ?

Checking Carisoprodol and Morphine Sulfate states:

"Severity: Major ... Taking centrally acting muscle relaxants and opioid analgesics together may cause problems with your breathing. Using a centrally acting muscle relaxant together with a opioid analgesic is usually not recommended, but may be required in some cases. Some examples of a centrally acting muscle relaxant are carisoprodol, dantrolene, meprobamate, or methocarbamol. Examples of a opioid analgesic are codeine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine, propoxyphene, or meperidine. If you are using both medicines together, your doctor may change the dose or how often you use one or both of the medicines. It is important to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all other medicines that you are using. If you are already using a centrally acting muscle relaxant and a opioid analgesic, call your doctor if you have trouble breathing, have very slow breathing, feel short of breath, or have pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin. Do not stop using your medicines without talking to your doctor first." [1]

It ultimately boils down to following the regimen which you doctor put you on. And of course, do not hesitate to contact them if you are experiencing any adverse effects. Hope this helps.
