Teva 30mg Vs Aurobindo Pharm Amphetamine Salts (adderall) (Page 5) (Top voted first)
UpdatedFor several years I've taken TEVA 30mg Amphetamine Salts 2x daily with consistent positive relief. Focus and a feeling that I could have a productive day gave me a reason to get out of bed. On 8/21/2014 all that changed to nervous anxiety filled days staying home. What caused the dramatic change quickly became clear. The generic Adderall produced by AUROBINO PHARM which my regular CVS Pharmacy filled my RX with on 8/21 was less than effective it was exasperating the very symptoms for which it was prescribed. FDA is an ineffective bureaucracy controlled by lobbyists for foreign and domestic pharmaceutical companies making huge profits in generic drugs at the expense of the health and quality of life of others. The manufacturing of inferior or possibly harmful medications by greedy corporations will continue to grow until a strong GOOD DRUG coalition is formed. Tomorrow I know I will be calling my pharmacy, CVS Corporation, my Dr., and make a report to the FDA. I will also try my damnedest never to purchase a drug produced by AUROBINDO PHAR.
No, Jeremy Girl. CVS refused to order Teva and don't feel they even have to tell you they are changing generics. That is why you must ask before you have a RX filled.
I now use Walgreens, but ask every time
There is something very, very wrong with this medication. The effects it had on my body and mind are indescribable and unspeakably horrible. I only wish I had quit taking it sooner.
I've been taking Adderall for a long time. This is not Adderall.
The pharmacy I go to is Safeway now which use to be Albertsons and I got the aurobo crap before and thought it was just stress or something cause they just didn't seem to be working like the Teva/Barr. Well I asked my pharmacy if they could give me Teva cause the Aubo just didn't work and I looked it up on forums. Well they had to give me 20 of the Aubo and the other 40 for my script with Teva and I asked why and they said that their distributor will no long take requests and only give them what brand they feel like. The Aubo crap doesn't help me focus or anything just makes me feel over heated and lethargic as hell and it takes up to 45mins before I "feel it" for IR and it lasts only a couple hours then horrid crash. Thing that really sucks is I can't switch pharmacies at the moment. I just hope they get Tevas back.
Just an update from my "mail away" CVS pharmacy issues with aurobindo amph salts vs. the barr/teva brand. I have had to get my adderal through the local walgreens since CVS didn't carry it, and, supposedly they wouldn't order it. Long story short, is that I called the mail order pharmacist and asked if they stocked teva yet, or "how that would work" since I have had to pay out of pocket almost the same amount for 1 month as I would for 3 months thru mail away. It is surprising, but pharmacists evidently are robotic and dont know if they can request other brands or what. I ended up speaking to someone else, I have NO IDEA who, but someone in customer service, I suspect, and I explained the situation and that I can NOT have aurobindo -- only teva/barr. I had my doc write specifically ON THE RX "TEVA BRAND". Between talking to the rep who NOTED my records with the requirement of a specific brand and my doc writing only teva I have been able to get my 3 month supply of..... yup, teva! I will tell you though, that because adderall is so difficult to get in general, I had to give them a month lead time to get the proper brand in stock. Now, this is only 1 rx fill -- we'll see if they continue to carry it/obtain it for me. By the way, the bottle was sealed, so they evidently just bought the bottle for me instead of getting a larger bottle to fill other rx's. My plan is through the federal government, so if any of you have the same BC/BS federal policy, the way MAY be paved for you to finally get TEVA/BARR adderall. Good luck!
Aurobindo Pharma has a Facebook page. Someone on there has already written a complaint about how their defective medication nearly killed him.
Disturbing warning letter written to Aurobindo in 2011 by the FDA & what they found during an inspection: fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementActions/WarningLetters/ucm256861.htm
There seems to be no response or remedy, no closeout date, & this was from 2011. Most disturbing is the section about mold growth. We spent $1000's of $'s on mold abatement after tearing out our kitchen & bathroom for a remodel and finding large patches of toxic mold, which was also confirmed in laboratory air samples. This was after several years of myself, husband & 3 sons suffering from numerous, unexplained health issues. I have 3 sons, 2 suffered constant respiratory issues, along with my husband. My other son & I escaped the respiratory effects of mold however, faced many immune system, & neurological problems. The past couple years, dr's have uncovered permanent neurological issues, with myself, confirmed through MRI's, along with damage to specific organs with my 12 year old. This is why I began taking Adderall in the first place. It gave me back some sanity, but ADD will forever plague my brain. My son who escaped all the respiratory issues of toxic mold, was also diagnosed with ADD, & after a comprehensive check up, because I was, still am against him taking any ADD Meds, he was found to have severe kidney damage. I am not a doctor, so I cannot state that toxic mold was, unequivocally, 100% the reason he has kidney damage (that no nephrologist can explain) & a late (12 years old) onset of ADD, along with my late onset (40 years old) of neurological damage & ADD, but as a mother, I wholeheartedly believe living amongst & breathing toxic mold for years is mostly, if not 100% responsible. After the mold was found, a lab test confirmed it to be black toxic mold & we began abatement immediately. Since then my husband & 2 other sons have been symptom free. Almost 3 years now. I don't find this purely coincidental. Unfortunately, my 12 year old son & I have suffered permanent damage to our bodies from (again, from what I believe is) being exposed to this toxic mold for 5 of the 7 years we have lived here.
Back to the Adderall situation, I've taken 10 mg of generic adderall (usually Teva generic) with no side effects for years, it actually gave me my life back after the mold debacle. This week I picked up my prescription from CVS (new pharmacy for me, thanks to insurance change) and I took it Tues, Wed, Thurs with horrible side effects. My cluster migraines, brain fog, depression, vision issues, fatigue...came back with a vengeance, which at first, I guessed must be a bug I caught or the flu. But I became suspicious of this medication after realizing that over those few days I would feel normal (my not so normal, normal) until I took my pill, then within an hour I'm practically bed ridden, feeling like someone just slipped poison in my water. So yesterday I skipped my adderall, felt pretty crappy, but nothing even close to the few days prior. Just to be sure of my suspicions, I took my adderall today & here I am, in bed, feeling like death. Yesterday, I took out my old empty bottle from December & compared it to the one I recently filled & they are very different. Savon (pharmacy I've used for years) filled med with a generic by Corep (?), I believe it was Teva prior to that. Proper warning labels, expiration date, etc...My current Adderall prescription is manufactured by this Aurobindo Company, & there's no expiration date, no warning labels. After reading many of these posts, checking the FDA website for any recalls, I stumbled upon the warning letter above. I already feel like h*** physically, now mentally or emotionally, I'm disgusted, ready to call the FDA & give them a piece of my mind. Instead, I politely called CVS & told them I will be bringing this prescription in & they need to fill it with a "non-toxic or non-lethal" or "non-counterfeit" Adderall. Well, I guess it's not that easy. I have to make an apt with my physician, which might take weeks & who I only see every 3 months, have him write a new prescription, then CVS will order the brand name Adderall, which seems unnecessary & (according to pharmacist) pay out of pocket because my insurance most likely won't cover 2 fills in one month. This is on top of an extra $200 visit to my physician, insurance doesn't pay anything until deductible is met, which of course started new 1/1. Unreal! I already placed a medwatch report/complaint. I think if enough people are having issues and fill out the FDA Medwatch adverse event report, hopefully this company will lose their rights to manufacture pharmaceuticals. I hope! Otherwise, people taking their medications are at risk for all these crazy side effects, & if this medicine is "dirty", it's scary to think about the long term effects. Especially the kids that take Adderall. It makes me sick. Thanks for letting me share my story, I'm beginning to believe we are way more in tune with our health, then the dr's & pharmacists we entrust our health to. Has anyone had a similar issue with replacing this medication? If so, curious if CVS can get away with this? Or if they should take responsibility for, in my case, filling a prescription that is causing severe side-effects & exchange the medication.(?)
So glad these posts are here. Went to CVS for the first time to have a prescription filled because it is close to work. Received auribundo. Thought for sure I was getting the flu after taking it and was really frustrated that I was regressing mentally but just decided to power through. I can tell upon taking it that my body is rejecting it like poison, every pill feels like I'm taking a shot of bottom shelf tequila. The medication doesn't help me to focus like adderall is supposed too. Very frustrated, can't wait to find my way back to what I was taking before, will ask the pharmacist in advance from now on what they will be filling with
I also filed a complaint with the FDA if you read my past reply, user name livetorun99 you will read my breif story.
I have been taking the Teva brand from Walgreens for about a year and everything was good. A few days ago I went to CVS for my refill because it was near the doctor office and I thought nothing of it. They carry a generic made by Aurobindo which I had not heard of but assumed must be similar to Teva. I WAS WRONG. The Aurobindo brand is much stronger and lasts in my system much longer. I took half of a 20mg pill at 3:00PM and could not fall sleep at all that night. I went into work the next day on no sleep. The second day I took the half 20mg pill at noon and I again could not fall asleep that night. On top of that, it makes me jittery and LESS focused, plus my heartbeat seems to increase. I would not recommend this brand which most CVS stores now use and will be going back to Walgreens for future refills.
I thought I was crazy but this medication does not work for me and I also have the same symptoms you are having. Constipation meds don't work, and doesn't help my attention span. I don't know what to do. I go to my doctor Thursday and I am hoping she can put me on something else. Any suggestions for a new med?
Re: LuvoxPro (# 5)
OMG... I have been searching and hoping I would get some answers about why my Adderall is not working.
I refuse to take medication from India.
No wonder it cost .97 for my rx with my ins.
Re: Ehhh (# 106)
I've had pretty much the same experience with variability and side effects. It makes me tired, but I think that has more to do with the dehydration than anything else. If I chug enough water, I'm okay. I have found that the crash is really rough, particularly my post-med hunger.
I don't know what anyone can do about the medication. Most pharmacies are carrying it, they can't/won't order the brand you want, and a lot of people have to stay on the generic because of their insurance. It seems like we're stuck between a rock and a hard place.
My prescription was filled the other day with aurobindo. This crap made me sick to my stomach, dizzy, worst migraine I have had in years, tired and physically lazy. I feel like I am on depression meds or something.
Re: ChadB (# 121)
I believe it works like Stratera, which makes me sick. No i don't expect to feel euphoric off of adderall. Marijuana works fine for me.
I also take adderall for focus at work.
Maybe a Ford employee can explain why the Aurobindo U31 tabs I got didn't register anything on the Marquis reagent test.
The white mallinckrodt adderall showed the orange color it should have. The pink Corpharma tab I had shows positive for amphetamines. Those were my control samples, known generics that seemed effective.
Tested 3 Auribindos. The only orange I saw was from the peach coloring they use. Not one had enough amphetamine to show positive.
ChadB Ford, just switch to Strattera, that's what you're taking.
These mf krs should be in jail. They have caused a sibling irreversible damage. CVS replaced Teva brand with this garbage, without labeling notification. Several years ago they didn't, but now I think they tell you your generic has been replaced by the toxic one from India. Who does not know about the utter disregard for the health and well being of others from Indian drug manufacturers. FDA are you listening? This toxic company with its toxic medication is destroying lives.
Re: dhongi (# 126)
Teva now owns Aurobindo, so this toxic s*** will come under the Teva name soon. The XR still have a patent covering the formula, if you can switch to XR it seems to be ok. But holy crap! When I take those crap IR Aurobindo/now Teva, I will cry for no reason the rest of the day. I’ve had to make a choice in my health for my afternoon dose and say “no way”. I’ve even tried to push through the side effects, but nope, still s***.
Re: MrsRobbinson (# 127)
Hi. Just to clarify, Aurobindo was going after the European products from Teva due to the required divestiture of some of Teva generics due to the buy out of Allergen. The products were not Adderall but cancer drugs, etc. It has not happened and Aurobindo is bidding against multiple other Pharmaceutical multinationals.
Anyway, I have been on everything and the Teva Brand was decent but very costly! Hence my insurance dropped it in 2018.
I had a choice now between Teva Generic and Aurobindo. I chose the latter and must say I believe it was the right decision. Until Teva get's their house in order I would not trust those sweet tasting, diabetic coma pills.
Good Luck!
Took Teva 30mg then and it was perf. I switched Pharmacy from Walgreens to Kroger because it was cheaper ($4?!) haha.
Got home and saw I got Aurobindo. I knew nothing about it and was like “ok”. Took half because I split it up in the day.
Teva is like a smooth transition into focus gear, like a warm cup of coffee.
Aurobindo was like catching a whiff of the coffee but it blowing away quickly.
Talked to the Kroger pharmacist and told them Aurobindo is trash. Spoke with my doctor the next day, handed over the Aurobindo and got a new script. Walgreens and Teva for life!
I was originally on Corepharma 15mg generic Adderall IR and it worked AMAZING. I was on around 10-15mg for my first year... until Corepharma was discontinued (at the time I didn't know, the pharmacists didn't tell me....). I got Aurobindo... which was possibly the worst medication Id ever taken. I was usually on 10mg, and I started to notice that my medication only worked half of the time, but most of the time I got really tense, irritable, jittery and I got headaches. After about a month, I asked my doctor to increase my dose to 15mg since I thought the medication simply wasnt working. Side effects did not improve and I finally found out that I was getting aurobindo and not corepharma. Did research and realized there was a difference between generics and that others were in the same boat. I ended up finding another pharmacy that had Corepharma (still discontinued at this point, I still didnt know).
Which I got two months worth of Corepharma from... then they ran out as well. They were the ones who ended up telling me that Corepharma IR adderall was discontinued months ago.... Since then I've tried Teva (Only had about half the potency, I took 20mg or 30mg... or even 40mg and when it worked, it worked for about 2-3 hours). I've also tried adderall XR, but that gave me extreme anxiety and tenseness. I went and tried 2x-3x 10mg pills of Sandoz IR adderall but it also barely worked... I went and got a 30mg pill of Sandoz Adderall and it... works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't and I get some side effects. I also needed longer acting medication so my doctor also perscribed Vyvanse.
I'm a pretty big mess right now because of this situation. I didn't know I really had really bad ADHD until about 2 years ago when I first got my medication. The difference was night and day. Literally went from a sub 2.0 GPA to a 3.9-4.0 GPA. Medication inconsistency has been a rollercoaster and I've started to lose sleep and I'm noticing the health issues now.
Doctors nowadays either don't understand the issue (they don't know different generics affect people differently) or they just perscribe more medication to mask the side effects when lowering the dose would be more effective.
I'm seriously tired of this s***. F*** the pharmaceutical companies charging a fortune for generic medication thats extremely inconsistent.
Re: Ethan (# 138)
Oh my god. I could have written what you just said (including the beard part, ha.) In the last couple months I have been dealing with HORRIBLE swelling and sores and inflammation in my mouth and throat and I have done enough on/offs of the Adderall now to pinpoint that it is the Adderall and not some other weird disease. This is also after having been to urgent care a couple times and the nurses not knowing what it was attributed to.
I take Teva 20mg IR as well as 15mg IR. It has been a nightmare with these mouth symptoms and I have been on Adderall for two years--this only happened one other time, also in December/January of 2016/2017. I am so happy to have read your post, even though I'm so sorry you are going through it too. But WOW. It's like some f****d up allergic reaction with so much red swelling on the roof of my mouth, my throat, tongue... unbelievably painful and has left me sick, sick, sick for the last couple months.
Anyone else?!
