Sun Pharma Bupropion (white Round Pill Labeled 737) Questions

Hello!
I recently was switched to the the Sun Pharma version of my Bupropion SR and wanted to know if anyone has experiened or heard of trouble with them. So far, they seem to be doing the job, but I recently have developed some upper (not stomach) abdominal pain which cannot be really pinpointed to anything. (Closest so far is a pinched nerve round the rib cage) Until recently I hadn't really concidered if the switch in medicine could be the reason.
Any feedback on this brand's version of Wellbutrin?
As a sidenote, I had been taking the Watson version(WPI 839)for about 2 -3 years with no problems, and previously had an extremely poor reaction to Teva (an extreme crash). I've never been lucky enough to afford the read deal so cannot offer any comparisons with that.

I actually did better on Sun, but then again I Did great on Teva and they recalled it from the market
I think everybody can have different reactions it just depends on your body
I know I have horrible reactions with the brand name and also with Sandos
I discussed my concerns with my dr. and he was understanding. He told me to ask if the pharmacy had a different generic and if they didn't to go ahead and transfer to somewhere that does. Fortunately my pharmacist did have some of the Watson pharmaceuticals bupropion in stock. Everyone was very understanding and no one was dismissive.
I've been back on the Watson's 2 weeks now with no problems
I recently received this generic and was afraid that I got the wrong medication. I've been depressed and crying spells. I have other symptoms listed here chest pain in the rib cage, heartburn, my mind will not shut off I keep thinking about the same things over and over. I feel like I'm not on an antidepressant at all. I will not accept this generic brand ever again.
I recently got on medicare and I ordered from Health Warehouse to save money on my bupropion 150 mg sr. I have been real grouchy with it! It is the 737 small round tablet made by Sun. I had a couple of my old tablets in the car in case I forget to take. I took one today and feel MUCH better. The sun tablet seems to have way less product in it if any!
My generic was recently switched and I started developing bladder issues. They came on slowly and now are extreme. I suffer all the symptoms of interstitial cystitis even though I've never suffered from it before. I quit it over a week ago and am hoping the symptoms will go away soon. Nothing else in my diet or medicine changed.
I noticed the smaller pill size immediately but verified it is bupropion. A week later I feel like I was taken off Wellbutrin cold turkey! My anxiety is through the roof and I want to cry at the smallest things. Calling my dr tomorrow! Glad I googled the pill again and found your posts. I thought it was just me getting worse.
Hi Shell, I'm so sorry you had a similar problem with your Sun Pharma "bupropion." I think it's criminal that this generic is still on the market! Maybe your pharmacy is still selling this brand? If so, they can give you a current lot # etc for CARACO Pharmaceutical/Sun Pharma.
Maybe somehow in light of Robin William's death as people's awareness is raised about depression, we can bring attention to the terrible mistake that is being made that could put good people's lives in jeopardy. Money is being saved on this type and I'm sure many other kinds of medication - but at what cost?!
Let's think about this? Maybe we can bend the ear of some public figures who have come forward as people who suffer from depression who might want to help turn this dangerous problem around. What do you think?
Hi Janie, I just had an issue with the generic bupropion hcl sr 150mg made by sun pharmaceuticals too. (the pills have the 737 on them and they are also smaller than any of the previous generic ones I had). I had headaches, dark urine, , frequent crying, could not get myself to bed (as another person said... my mind just kept going). It got so bad that I ended up missing work so that I could get in to see my doctor. He sent in another prescription (that I had to pay for because the insurance said it was too soon to refill) and told me to make sure I got a different brand. I was skeptical, but sure enough my symptoms started clearing right away and now I am feeling a lot better. I am angry about this. It caused me emotional stress! I didn't know what or why it was happening. I had no idea that there were different brands of generics and that each one could be different until I started googling it when I was getting really depressed. I really want to make someone aware of this, but I cant figure it out at all. The FDA needs certain information (like the lot # of the brand) that I have no way of getting ahold of. I really feel like I was given a wrong medication. It was that significant. I'm afraid this will happen to others too! Not sure what I can do though.
CVS stopped carrying the Watson generic in March and supply only Sun Pharma brand of Bupropion, which is manufactured in India and distributed in the U.S. by CARACO Pharmaceutical Labs based in Detroit. The pills I took in March were much smaller than any other generic Wellbutrin I have seen before. At 1st I thought I was having a gluten reaction as I posted above. However, a few days after my post, I went to a privately owned pharmacy and was able to get the Watson tablets from them. The 1st one I took- I could feel the difference! There may or may not be gluten in the Sun Pharma, but I can say with certainty there is little to no actual Wellbutrin in it! My depression eased up immediately on the Watson but I noticed that I felt a little jittery for the 1st 4 or 5 days like I was taking it for the 1st time. I filed a report with the CDER procedure at the FDA website. I can look for the link and post it here. CARACO has been sited by the FDA regarding numerous irregularities in others of its meds and has even had several meds confiscated by the FDA for non compliance!
However, the only way this pill will get pulled so no one else has a problem like we have had, is for other people like you to file reports. So far it is still on the market. I worry about the people who don't realize that the pill isn't working properly who sink into deeper and deeper depression...
I was recently switched to this brand by my pharmacy and only looked at the bottle by chance. I have been trying to figure out where I might be getting trace amounts of gluten for a couple weeks and I'm glad I looked at the bottle because I didn't realize they had switched manufacturers. The symptoms and the change in manufacturers coincide exactly...
It's amazing that Sun Pharma and most other manufacturers don't have any info on their websites about whether there is any risk of cross contamination with their drugs. Pretty scary stuff.
I recently got this brand and I can't sleep cause my mind won't stop it's like I have a hundred thoughts rolling at once, I have had heartburn really bad, I couldn't even function at work, I have had this Med different pill before and never had this reaction
I started taking the Sun Pharmacy Bupropion SR 3 weeks ago and I am having a gluten reaction to it. In this case, the adverse effects are: brain fog and I am overly emotional as in crying and feeling depressed. I have taken two other generic brands over the past 13 years and have never had this problem before! At 1st I thought I was just experiencing depression- over time I realized that not only am I not getting the anti-depressant effect I take this med for, but in addition I feel as though I am suffering from gluten exposure.
Hello, Satellite34! How are you?
So far, there haven't been any posts with complaints about it, at least among the posts I have read on here and I do read quite a lot of them. :-)
But, there can be fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic to another. They aren't significant and most people don't even notice, however, since you said you were taking the other one for several years, I wanted to mention it….because, sometimes when your body is used to the level in one, you may have some minor problems when switching to a new one. If you do and they aren't severe, you can usually just wait them out as your body will adjust in a week or two.

Does anyone have experience with the one from Sun Pharma?
