I have been suffering from green stool issue from 3 months, the doctor suggested me to take VIBACT DS and ARISTOZYME Syrup , i want to know what is the use of these two tablets ## Hello, Santhosh! How are you? Vibist DS is classified by the FDA as an antibiotic, it contains Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim. It is most commonly used to treat or prevent bacterial infections. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Aristozyme is just a multivitamin product, so it may cause some nausea, after taking it. However, green stool is usually just due to something you're eating or drinking. Have you been eating a lot of fruit recently? Drinking apple juice? Eating a lot of vegetables? Has anything changed in your diet?
my spouse was prescribed sulfamethoxazole -tmp ds on feb 25. for 3 days. 1 tab 2-day she took total 5 tabs and had to stop. got severe headaches starting feb 27. it's now march 4th and still have headaches. went to er, doctor found nothing, did ct scan. prescribed fioricet 5-0-325-40 but pharmacy sub butal-acet-caff 50-325-40, which is not helping headaches. can any one help ## Hello, Dennis! How is she feeling? Has it eased up, yet? When I had an allergic reaction to this antibiotic a few years ago, it took a couple weeks for the headache it caused to go away, so it may just be a matter of time, if the doctors found no other reason for it. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. What type of infection wa...
This pill is white and oblong. It has a print of VP50 on one side and nothing on the other side. ## @Whitaker, Based on your description, the closest match I could find was a white oblong shaped pill marked with VP 120 on one side and blank on the other. It's reportedly identified as a Sulfamethoxazole (800mg) + Trimethoprim (160mg) DS tablet, used for treating a variety of bacterial infections. I realize the imprint isn't spot on, but because they are very similar, I have a strong feeling that they could be made by the same manufacturer (Vista Pharmaceuticals). Perhaps you can try contacting them directly for more specific details on whether VP 50 is something they make. The phone number/extension to reach them at is listed on their website as 973-736-1952/4457; based out of We...

I am currently controlling a utc with unsweetened cranberry juice, apple cider vinegar, cranberry supplements, L-argenine, saw palmetto etc. How can I order sulfamethoxazole tmp ds tabs without going to a MDDale ## Hello, Dale! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. No, this medication requires a doctor's visit and prescription in the U.S. Have you spoken to your doctor about the problem? They will usually prescribe something such as Nitrofurantoin to be taken daily as a preventative for people that keep getting UTIs. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can hel...
How long is this medicine good for. ## Hi rae, According to Roche Pharmaceuticals, the tablets as well as the oral suspensions of sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim both have a shelf life of 5 years. However I'm assuming this is based on their recommended storage temperature being below 30 degrees celsius (86*F). On the contrary, a news article by the LA Times suggests from prior studies that many medications are actually good for up to 40 years beyond the listed expiration date. They also go on to state that expiration dates are often set solely based upon one's own discretion without a specific reason or evidence indicating that it truly has expired. And apparently the reason behind this is that the FDA doesn't require pharmaceutical companies to check how long their ingredie...
my sister is 17 years old. she told me the she had sex without using condoms with his guy she been talking to for a while but the was the first time she did not use condoms. Next day he states the he had chlamydia in the past and he thinks he got them again for her to go get check out. UpdatedMy mouth palate and tongue feel raw while I am on this medicine, should I stop? ## Trimethoprim + Sulfamethoxazole can cause mouth sores as a severe side effect, but I haven't read anything related to what you're describing. My assumption is that if this side effect becomes too bothersome or persistent, then you should consider contacting your doctor about stopping the medication and opting for a safer or more natural alternative. How long have you been taking it for? ## I have just taken my first pill of Bactrim for a MRSA infection i developed on my arm. Before taking my pills I usually pin them with the underside of my tongue, but where the pill touched is now painful and swollen. My best advice is to just take the medicine as quickly as possible because it contains sulfur an...
Can you drink alcholic beverages while taking this drug? ## Can you drink alcholic beverages while taking sulfameth tmp ds tabs ## There are no dangerous interactions listed, but you should check with your doctor, or pharmacist to be certain. Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim, commonly prescribed under the brand name Bactrim, is an antibiotic that is used to treat certain types of infections. is it safe to take an expired persciption of the above medicine? from 2007 ## When it comes to any medication I think it is best to not take any chances with the past expiration date (especially in the event that it is almost 5 years old). They MAY still be ok to take if they haven't been exposed to a high amount of heat or various other conditions outside of the bottle, however I am not a pharmacist or MD, so I cannot guarantee if it is in fact safe for you to consume. There is still a high likelihood that it lost a lot of its potency and may be ineffective to the point where it could harm your body by not doing it's job all the way, per say. This is is most important when it comes to expired antibiotics, because the antibiotic may not kill the infection 100% and therefore can ...
I'm taking sulfamethoxazole tmp and phenazopyridine and I'm having a party is it okay to have up to 3 beers? ## princess the alcohol will decrease the efectiveness of the sulfa ## I haven't read anything about alcohol decreasing the effects of Sulfamethoxazole/Tmp... but according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, using the two together has been known to cause serious side effects including but not limited to: a pounding heartbeat, rapid breathing, flushed skin, and increased perspiration (i.e sweating). That said, in my opinion it's probably not worth risking these symptoms for 3 beers. However in the event that you do experience such symptoms from ANY amount of alcohol, Umm.edu recommends that you contact your doctor immediately. I hope this helps!
I am self medicating with these 2 yr.old tablets that were given for my now deceased husband. I am on oxygen full time and for the past week, my breathing has gotten worse and I have pain in my right ear. I decided to cut out all of my herbal pills for eyesight and hair etc. to see if that was the cause. I still have shortness of breath. I figure I might have an infection going on so I am trying the Bactrim to see if that helps. I take a half pill a day of Digoxin - very low dosage. I have only taken one Bactrim, but so far, so good. Should I be taking Bactrim for my lungs? I know its ok for my ears. ## Hello, Suzy! How are you? I'm sorry that you're ill. This antibiotic can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections, as listed by the FDA. Possible side effects may i...

Will smz/tmo ds 800-160 help with strep throat? ## From what you've listed, this would be Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim, according to the FDA, it's a generic for the antibiotic Bactrim and can be used to treat various types of infections. Typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, it shouldn't be taken, unless your doctor has confirmed the presence of an infection and prescribed it for you. Taking it improperly could cause you to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria. My husband has strep throat and has no insurance. He has some sulfa.... Here but we are not sure if he can use it... ## Hello, Kathy! How is your husband doing? This is an antibiotic, so it can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections. However, the concern is that if he doesn't have enough to complete a full course of it, it could create the risk of his developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, the same is true if he doesn't actually have an infection. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. It would really be best for him to see a doctor to have them confirm the presence of an infection, if there is one and to have the proper antibiotic prescribed. What dosage is this one?

I have a prescription dated 01/07/13 for Sullfameth/trime thoprim 800/160 tabs, is it ok for me to take them now? ## Hello, Sylvia! How are you? This is a generic for the antibiotic Bactrim and the expiration date would have been one year from when it was dispensed to you by your pharmacy. Medications degrade over time, due to exposure to the elements, such as heat, light and moisture, thus, they will no longer be as effective as they were, when new and this creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. So, if you have an infection and require an antibiotic, it would best to see your doctor for a new prescription. Side effects to this medication nay include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash. Is there anything else I can help with?
