I started taking sulfameth yessterday for a staph infection and I take one a day. Is diarrhea a pretty common side effect? Will sulfameth/TMS 800 causes cramps ? I've been takeing it for a week and have bad cramps in the top of both feet at night. ## Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is an antibiotic that is used to treat various types of infections. my doctor put me on a combination of sulfamethoxazole and doxycycline after they lanced an infected oil gland on my back. the sulfa was first 4 days and I was ok. then they lanced it again and added doxy. I got a really bad sore throat and cold that they said was coincidence! and I would get really nauseous for a few hours after taking the meds. That nausea seemed to get worse each time. I could not go to work today so called dr. to see if I could take the pills once a day at night? get sick at night and still work? or what suggestions and a nurse called me back and said, "just stop taking them," this, after they gave me the warning in the office, 'make sure you finishe the whole course.'
