Suboxone / Heroin Withdrawal (Page 4)

I would like to know if I can take Suboxone for 3 or 4 days to wean off my heroin addiction? I don't want to replace one habit for another. Will I be alright?
what do u think they do in a detox dude? they give it to your for 3 days to get you threw the worst of it..no pain no gain..long term sub maintanance is for people that are likely to relapse, and are better off on suboxone..rather then stealing for smack.
suboxone withdrawls take longer than heroin, but from what i gather they aren't as gnarly. i jumped off at 2 mg after a week, and just made myself go to work, and do positive things. it's harder somedays than others, but i'm so used to being horribly dopesick that it doesn't really bother me. by day three i got bored of layong around. i get back spasms, and i lose my appetite, but i just drink a lot of water, and force myself to go running/walking for a half hour in the morning and evenings. you just gotta put yourself first, and realize that it's a temporary situation. fortunately i have a job that is easy enough to do regardless of whether i'm sick or not (usually dopesickness is just kind of like fibromyalgia symptoms for me, i don't get a lot of nausea, or flu symptoms).
i'm not in recovery so i smoke weed. it helps with paws. i tend to not smoke when i'm dealing with emotional issues, cause i need to be present to deal with those things. paws can make you kind of a raw nerve, but again, it's only temporary.
None of you are right. Regardless of how bad a heroin habit is 4mg suboxone will kill the withdrawl.take 4mg 24 hrs after last use.wait 48hrs and take another 4mg.wait 48 hrs and take 2mg and I promise you are done. No more withdrawl.I did it
Dude you can say that suboxone can't help you if you buy it on the street! I been on suboxone for almost 4 yrs... Never had a prescription and actually started taking it with 6 months clean from a mean ass dope habit that was that much worse because they were all cuttin their dope with fentenoyl I bought 3 subs a whole the first day half the second and half the third and quarters for the next four... Then nothing.... You need to experience some pain otherwise you don't respect it....Sure I wasn't a %100 for a month but if you ain't got a strong will and can't take being uncomfortable that's straight weak and if they don't have the muscle and strength to get thru week 2,3,4 clean off dope then they will ALWAYS use again I would bet every paycheck that I will get for the rest of my life that person won't make it a year! I initially started taking it to get high but realized that it helped me that I didn't even think of doing dope.... And they are so abundant in philly everybody knows someone that sells Em you can get em as easier then you can get dope! I've taken 1 a day from the day I started and besides the rare occasion need nothing more then 1 a day. And I can get by on a half. Sometimes I taper down to an 8th.... Never could do that with dope. Go 4 or 5 days without em and the worst thing that happens is being a little restless and have a little trouble sleeping which ant nuttin a half of trazadone can't help. I can go a whole work week with out em and nobody could tell the difference except I'm in a better mood when I stop taking them.... I couldn't go to bed at night without a bag of dope to get me outa bed in the morning so I could go cop before work. I could never go to work sick but subs are way different there is barely a sickness with em.... They saved my life without the interference of a doctor.... And they help alot of people I know.... At my job alone I sell at least 70 of em a week and that's a lot of people who ain't robbing or stealing to get high, who come to work everyday with money in their pocket, who take care of their families, who don't have insurance and can't afford to pay a doctor 200 every month and another 300-400 to fill the script but spend a flat 300 and that's it no wasted time at the doctors... Or there are a lot like me who buy em of the people who do go to the doc and are still shooting dope who sell there whole script except a few few for the end of the month to have it in their system to get more...... So that I not only get mine for free and make money cuz it isn't just profit but I help people who are f***ed up and show them how suboxone can save their life.... Cuz we are the ones paying taxes who pay for the junkies who still wana get high get our tax money when they get on welfare cuz they don't work and get the script of 90 subs out of the pharmacy for $1 every 25 days.... While we can't afford health insurance to get help with because they say we make to much money.... You gotta make less then 200 a month to get health insurance.... Who can live off that? Nobody! Except these junkies who won't get a job but waste my tax money when they get on welfare to get pills to sell to me so I can be a productive member of society while they take my cash and my tax money and go get high.... YEA all these people who go to the doctor to get em for nuttin.... While we bust our asses to stay straight and so we can go to work and make money for them to get high.... Going to the doctor don't mean your Gona stay clean... Gotta be in your heart and mind and you gotta build a strong willpower or there is no chance of staying clean.... That's real s***!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSE. ALTHOUGH I WAS AN ER NURSE FOR MANY YEARS, I STEPPED AWAY FROM THE BEDSIDE SO I DON'T KNOW ALL THE NEW TRICKS THESE KIDS ARE USING. I ALSO ONLY SAW OVERDOSED PATIENTS SO NEVER GOT TO SEE WITHDRAWALS CAUSE THEY WERE ALWAYS TRANSFERRED. WE TRIED INPATIENT MEDICAL DETOX BUT NEITHER OF THE TWO PROGRAMS HAD A MALE BED AVAILABLE WHICH WAS SUPER FRUSTRATING. WE RODE AROUND THE CITY TRYING TO FIND A PLACE, BUT NO SUCCESS, WE HAVE A LONG TERM PLACE THAT TELLS US IF THEY HAVE A BED THEY ARE TAKING HIM TOMORROW. IT'S A 6 MONTH PROGRAM...PLEASE PRAY THEY CAN TAKE HIM! THANKS AGAIN.
He might be thru the worst of the acute withdrawals - they're the really rough ones in the beginning that last anywhere from a few days up to a couple weeks depending on the person- but he's still gonna have to deal with the Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms (more commonly reffered to as PAWS).
PAWS aren't as intense as the acute withdrawals are, but they're very real and are the reason most people relapse. The old saying "getting clean is the easy part- STAYING clean is the hard part" is very true. PAWS can last awhile so be prepared. Suboxone is a great tool, but they're not a get out of jail free card. Withdrawals are your brains way of generating new receptors. Don't worry, the brain will heal the damage done from opiate abuse- it just takes a little bit of time to get it firing correctly again. Good luck. With your support and a good recovery plan he can do it.
My son is trying to detox from Heroin. He bought 2 suboxone pills off the street, he took his last one Wednesday. Last Heroin use was Monday. He seems to be doing well. Will this continue or when the suboxone gets out after a few days, will he start w/drawals then???
Ok so today is day 3 for me taking suboxone films, 1/2 a day... Can I lower my dose tomorrow and try to quit completely before I get addicted??? I'm really scared of having withdrawals again... Is there anything I can't take for withdrawals??
thank u I think I waited long enough I waited 22 hours after my last use but I still feel like crap how much longer do u think its gonna last
No you wont go right bnack into withdrawl especially since it sounds as if you did it the hard way. If you were taking subs you should not have been sick in bed for 3 days unless u didn't wait until u were already sick before starting the subs. But, a few days taking subs will not hurt if anything it will help. I have takin subs for a few days at a time and then ran out and was not sick at all , just some depression and we all know that sometimes it is the depression that does most of the talking in the first place after 3 days of withdrawling, it is usually all mental after that. I hope and pray for us all to get better and stay that way and to be able to help others in the process. Maybe God willing there will some day come a way that us addicts will not have to suffer through withdrawling physically or mentally just tto get our lives back, i think if not for the illness some of us could just walk away, some of us??
I'm addicted to heroin. I'm trying to take suboxone to help. for the first 2 days I didn't get out of bed. its my 3 day I'm starting to feel a little better but still can't sleep. my question is if I stay on the suboxone for 1 more day am I gonna get addicted to them to and am I gonna just go right back into withdraw when I stop
Hi! You seem to have a pretty open outlook on this subject...thought I may be able to get some good advice as well :-)
I have been taking pain medications for about 5 years now. I have maintained the same dose for over a year now, but I am always in pain and I have developed an addictive cycle within the way I distribute my prescriptions to myself during the month. Long story short...I am able to and have completely weened myself off of soma and oxycodone (it's been 10 days), but I am trying to figure out the best way to ween off of MS Contin. I have 25 60mg pills that I have put away in order to start a daily ween down, and that will start in just a few days. This is an extended released pill and this complicates things a bit. I am currently taking 3 per day. My question for you is whether you think I would have an easier time weening off my pills over a week or two period myself, or requesting ciboxin? I have been able to handle running out of the other two prescriptions before refill dates with only minimal discomfort and so long as I had MS Contin. I think my body has become totally dependent on these drugs and that I could not possibly know if I am truly in pain because of the addiction my body is attached to. What do you think? I'm a bit scared...and I hate back pain. I had a medical marijuana card in Oregon a few yrs ago and that was the best alternative I've found to pain pills. Since MM has just legalized in my state, I have decided to get off these pills and go back to that. No matter what anyone thinks and how controversial it may be...I believe it is a safer alternative to pills. Just want the easiest scenario possible :-) I have had surgery in 3 places of my back...I appreciate any response!
I take oxycodone 30z I'll take for a month or two then I'll take subs a quater of a 8/2 for 4 days then I'm good anyone can do it if I do the trick is not to stay on them too long aloha hope it helped
First off i am going to tell you anything is possible, i know that your reading these people's replies and thinking "oh, man its not that easy, and i was hoping for this as a way out." Which lemme tell you, in essence it is good advice because it may lead to you seeking and finding the assistance you need to be clean and sober for an extended amount of time. But i will also say this, I am 24 years old and have grappled with addiction to every form of powerful opiates out there. From poppy tea to oxycontin and heroin, and every other opiate in between. And i have beat it twice since i was 18. Each time i did it with a rope in my mouth (just powering through the withdrawals) and no it was not fun, but after a week of torture it certainly does deter someone from using again anytime soon, but i would move to another state and start a new life, find a smokin' hot girl and i'de be happy as Bob Marley on the beaches of Jamaica. Then as a year or two would pass ide start remembering the sweet rush that a pile of dope would offer a young fellow such as myself. Each time it was 'just rekindling a love affair with an old friend,' but each time it would quickly spiral our of control into a dark and soul sucking depraved desperate addiction. At the end of 2010 i got clean again from a very large heroin habit by utilizing two 8mg suboxone, i was told that with a little willpower and some help from the subs that i would pull through and i did. I weened of the subs taking 4mg 3mg 2mg 1mg till the two pills were gone. 4 days after the subs were gone i felt the same as the 1st day off them. That feeling was general crappyness, but nothing near the pain ive put myself through going cold turkey in the past. So i would recommend seeking help, but i would not count out the power of your own ability to control your destiny. You need to be absolutely strong and reinforce your decision by telling yourself that you are doing something almost nobody else ever pulls off. And i also dont suggest becoming a maintenance user of suboxone or anything else for that matter. Being on other drugs supervised by a professional is a step up as opposed to illicit drug use. But keep in mind that you don't need that. You may think you do and doctors may say you do, but they make a ton of money off of suboxone and in essence, the doctors become your drug dealers to set themselves up for early retirement. A few subs and get clean and don't look back sister. Out of sight, out of mind. Never underestimate the resilience of the human mind, body, and spirit. You may think you need this or that, or that you cant do this or that. That will always be false, no matter what ever you plug in for 'that.' You can do whatever you put your mind to. Remember what it was like to be a kid and have the whole world ahead of you. Years of drug abuse haven't deleted my intelligence or will to suck every drop of life out of this beautiful world. God bless ya, you know what you gotta do.
Suboxone doesn't generally result in another addiction, if you follow your doctors instructions and use it properly.
Unlike Methadone, which usually leaves people addicted to it for life, those who follow a proper Suboxone treatment plan, usually end up completely drug free.
However, as the other poster has already said, it is going to take more than 3 or 4 days. It can take months or even years, for some people, depending on the severity of their addiction.
You have to start with a dosage that is near that of the opiate you were taking, to prevent the worst of the withdrawals and then it must be slowly tapered, over time, to allow you to become drug free.

Are there any other questions or comments?
First, I would like to thank Michael, for taking time out to help + advise me. But no, I didn't get sub from a junkie friend for the only friend I have is a dollar in my pocket. I was given a description by my doctor to start me off on sub. I started them but I started to read the horror stories about getting off them+ I became aware that it's a replacement like methadone. I was in a clinic for 14 years + as u know the horrible withdrawal I went through, but I was determine to leave that horrible clinic. I got clean + sober for 6 years, when I lost all sense of reality + forgot about my horrible trauma, only to find my drug of choice Heroin + deceived myself to think this wouldn't happen again. Since I'm not interested in another opiate, that's why I wanted to know if I can tamper off my heroin habit with the sub. Again, I'm open to your advise because suboxene is a new drug to me. However, I'm not interested in a love affair with another opiate. I desire to live a drug free life.
No that will not work. Suboxone is not just a easy way out, you can't just take 3 or 4 pills and than be clean. Also this medicine doesn't detox you it just helps out but I have been on Suboxone and know alot of people on it. Some for months and some for years but your average would be about 3 months. So yes, you have to tell your parents your a junkie and actually go to doctor. you cant just but Suboxone from one of your junkie friends, you need to actually take this medicine serious bc it has saved a lot of lives and its nothing to be messed with because it can cause u harm unless under a doctors care! your welcome and god bless u and get clean
