Suboxone And Valium (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

I have been on valium for approximately 12 years for severe anxiety and because of a severe back problems i was also put on percocet for years. Someone told me about suboxone. They said suboxone will help with the pain. So i went to a sub doc and told him i was on valium. He did not give me a U/A till months later. Doc said you are on a benzo. l said is that the valiums? He said yes. I said i told you i was on valium. He said you have to go off them. I was told if i go off my valiums i could have a seizure. I have been off the valium for a week. I am shaking and can't sleep. I feel sick. I was doing great with suboxone and valium. Now i am just sick. Please, someone help me.

Try gabbapentin it helps alot and non narcotic. Me and my wife are on suboxone and she came off benzos witht the gabbapentin and calonadine. I dont think any doc would say no. And the gabbapentin works for pain as well

I take suboxone and valium and ativan no problem but the doctors don't like us on both I would not stop valium cold turkey if you were on a high dosage you will go into seizures possibly drop down to Ativan it's a 1 mg sublingual take two of those a day

Sorry truss but you happen to be worn. Suboxone does has naltrexone in it but it does not work unless you try and abuse the pill. It remains inactive until you try and mix it with water or another liquid. The bupernorphine works perfectly well or it wouldn't even work for addiction. Suboxone is commonly used for pain management with much success. Subutex is just the bupernorphine by itself and most of the time they don't like to give it because it can be easily misused. This is not an opinion, it is pharmaceutical fact that can easily be looked up on the FDA website. If something is an opinion I will most certainly say so but this isn't one. I have known many patients on suboxone for pain and so far most people believe it to work quite well. I will say once again the blocking agent does not come out into the body unless you try to abuse the drug; then it will block all opiate activity as kind of a punishment for trying to administer the drug intravenously.

I'll give you another example: The drug lomotil for massive diarrhea. It is an opiate in a very small dose because we all know opiates cause constipation. But it is mixed with atropine to stop people from abusing it. If you take enough pills to feel high you will get deadly sick by the atropine in the drug. So they added it as a safety measure. But if you take the drug at normal doses the atropine does not affect you. Does that makes sense? So I will say this one last time please for pure factual information - Suboxone is used to treat chronic pain. It does work for many people and the naltrexone in the drug does not affect the opiate receptors until you try and abuse the drug. If you take the whole pill or strip or whatever dosage form it will not block opiate receptors against the bupernorphine. The bupernorphine itself does block against other opiates because it takes up all the receptor sites. So as long as you are just using the bupernorphine as pain management you will be fine, but if you try the mix it with other opiates they will not work.

The blocker will ALSO come out if u take it BEFORE enough opiates have left your system. Your sposed to go off opiates for at LEAST 24 hours before you take sub/ naloxone mix. I too have heard it works well for pain.
But if u still have a lot of opiates in ur system, it will do heavy duty kickass withdrawal on your body. BAD SWEATS SHAKES PAIN. That's why u wait. Good luck.

There IS currently a trend where doctors are using Suboxone for chronic pain. Are you in pain management?

you can easily take both my husband has for 12 years, When he tried to detox off of the benzo, he had terrible seizures and almost died, yes the only two drugs that can kill you from withdrawal are benzos and alcohol. I highly recommend that you find a prescription of a small incredibly small dose of benzos even if it's a .25 Ativan You will feel a million times better and you won't risk seizures or death! Good luck

I've been on Suboxone for over 5years and the main reason I changed to Suboxone was because they told me it was for pain also. It helped, but Suboxone IS NOT for Pain and if you go to the Dr and tell them you want OFF they just stand there w/ their heads up their ass. If I were you I would get OFF the Suboxone, get back on your Valium. I have a severe nervous problem also and I found a Dr. who gives me Suboxone 2X a day and Alprazolam. Believe me, I had to fight for it. I've taken nerve me medication off and on over 10years. So my Dr put me in a 5 day program and WATCHED me and how I did on both medications. You just need to find the right Dr. My I suggest that maybe you go to a Psychologist, along with your PCP of course, believe it or not they could probably help you better than a regular Dr. & they can prescribe the proper medications that you might need. Good Luck!!!

You people must stop being honest with dr's., even if they tell you to cuz that is what happens. Cuz drs all have different opinions on how to treat patients, not with what works and has been working for years. That all started with the *****s that abuse pain killers and overdose or sell them. Then legitimate people such as myself have to suffer. That's why street drugs are coming back and killing us.

Re: SheriAmore (# 55) Expand Referenced Message

Hello sheriAmore hope your doing well... here are some answers, as far as my knowledge goes. I might have miss represented the phrase habit forming. What I mean is your body will get used to it after taking it for a while and to stop without withdraws you must taper your dosage down. I wasn't meaning you would become an addict, being dependant and being an addict are two different things being an addict means you lose control of usage and abuse it being dependant means you must taper to avoid withdrawal. The naloxone is an abuse deterrent it has a bioavailability of approximately 2 to 6 % if taken sublingually if broken down and injected it goes to 80% it can and does cause withdraw if you do this, not sure about the overdosing factor, now just to clarify the bupenorphrine will cause withdraw itself if taken to soon after an opiate it's way stronger than other opiates so it overrides their effectiveness and actually knocks out all other opiates off your pain receptors. Beyond popular belief Suboxone is an opiate so it can and does help with pain it has helped me superbly. It might not everyone, being called a blocker might not be the correct way to explain it. It helps those of us with chronic pain and addiction issues by keeping us from withdrawing from painkillers and giving us relief from pain at the same time and being controllable. Thanks. Hope this helps you I shared what I know and my opinion good luck and let me know if you'd like to know more. Good luck and God bless.

Joan, why don’t you turn up at the emergency dep saying your life could be at risk and explain to them why, and tell them you need help ASAP. They have to help you, even just to put you in someone’s special care. When I was in the hospital a few months ago there was a man in the next bed to me, it was an assessment ward, I was there because of PE. He was allowed to be walking around freely. I asked him why was he there and he said he had anxiety problems and was in and out when he needed help. That's why I’m suggesting maybe you could do the same. Help to get off these Valium or any others. I got off antidepressants by cutting them down bit by bit. Another suggestion, always go to the pharmacist for information, not the GP. They don’t know about dosages, they only prescribe the medications. You don’t have to suffer these side effects. Go to google too, to the government & medical health pages and read everything about these medications. Then go to the pharmacist.

Suboxone is not going to help pain. Suboxone is another addiction. Go to your doctor and tell him/her that you want to get off of the Valium and Suboxone. Good luck.

I have stage 4 breast cancer. I have been on oxicotin for two almost three years. If I run out its awful. My muscles tighten up and my arms jerk all day. They started me out on 30. Im on 80. The pain sometimes unbearable sometimes. I also take 20 milligram percacets. I hate having to take these pills. I want to get off of them. My Dr. Said next is morphine. Im praying it don't get worst . cancer has hit my bones last year. I thank God above because I haven't been sick or anything. People think Im at the cancer institute with my mother they can't believe I have stage 4 cancer. Blood work is always great. God has really been her for me. Morphine makes me very sick. What else can they give me besides morphine. My friend was on a pill that stopped the pain for 72 hrs I wonder what pill that is. I hate taking pills everyday. Can you tell me what the pill my be.
