Does anyone knows if taking Phentermine (diet pill) and Suboxone is harmful in anyway?

I weighed 245 pounds and after taking phentermine (also suboxone) for 6 months I lost 100 pounds. The doctor took me off for my cycle. (6 months on 6 month off) but unfortunately I forgot to take my thyroid meds and I gained alot back...but now I am back on and I am loosing the weight really fast!

Not sure if you have heard of ' Here to help program ' they pay for your prescription each month for total of ONE year, and only ONCE in your lifetime can a person be on it... Hope this helps, and good luck, I know how you feel I to have to pay, but my insurance pays it all if my deductible is paid, if not it only lowers cost A LITTLE....

Thanks. I have my upcoming checkup and my Dr wanted to check out if there were any restrictions with prescribing the two together. I'm looking forward to shedding these extra 20 lbs I've put on due to Suboxone and crazy menopause. I did take phentermine 15+ years ago after birth of son and had great results within a few weeks. Remember though that phentermine will come up positive for amphetamine in U/A's, so a valid prescription is needed if you are in treatment for courts, etc.

Do you have Medicare or Medicaid because if you do you can get what is called Extra Help

I'm on suboxone 8mg a day, I've gained huge amount of weight its uncomfortable amount carrying extra 30kgs but my dr says no reason why suboxone would do this but I've got a script of Duromine it costs $130 to pick up,I didn't mind about sleep lose but I feel cold when I'm on them get chills like I got a fever,i only took them for 3or4 days , I'm wondering if anyone else felt these side effects or any others while on suboxone and Duromine. 2000$ a month is high for even two people, I go to a new beginnings clinic in Kentucky and pay 355$ a month but it's just for me

Folks

The premise behind recovery is to become a productive working member of society CONTRIBUTING to the betterment of such. What's next requests for benzos for anxiety and insomnia. I mean where does it stop. I'm in recovery but after being blessed with assistance until I got back on my feet it was MY RESPONSIBILITY to carry my own costs. So bash away that's what active addicts do best. Old school was getting clean with nothing at all. Usher in methadone then bupe oh and the wieght gain so we add stimulants to the mix then we need benzos for our anxiety see where I'm going what's next requesting barbiturates to induce sleep???? This is a perfect example of why main street America despises addicts because they give us one entitlement and we scheme to get another and another. I find it disrespectful to the true recovering community who aspires to live and give something back for what they have..
Just a thought when the next side effect comes up and try to convince others we need YET ANOTHER PHARMACOLOGICAL PROTOCOL TO LIVE !!! Well, for me I THINK NOT!!!!

P.s. I failed to mention the inevitable ADHD deficit that requires adderal of similar amphetamines to focus and concentrate.

That's what I'm wondering. I'm trying to figure out the same thing because I know a girl that is prescribed Suboxone (Buprenorphine 8 milligram / Naloxone 2 milligram) and has access to Adipex, but it even tells you it's completely methamphetamine, A Dangerous Drug. Suboxone is supposed to make us feel better and stay clean but yet you can get a diet pill that's legal to buy on the computer that is straight up methamphetamine. I'm done venting.... I I just think it's b***** but I guess whatever. I know we all want to lose weight but damn do we have to go back to old ways. But I was just wondering if she takes them both will it interfere with her medicine, like could it hurt her? If anybody knows please reply...

Did the phentermine make you jittery at all? I just got prescribed it myself while on the subs I got up to 254lbs and I just got prescribed phentermine 30mg but am scared to take together, I hate the way adderall feels does it make you feel like that at all?

ANGELA - replying to your question, for me taking duromine while on sub's made me feel crap. I had cold chills, anxiety and insomnia, didn't find any benefit really. Also it costs a s*** load and chances are the weight will come back once you stop taking them & begin to eat again.

Mass health will cover all your suboxone doc visits and you can waive copay from rite aid dr if store to where u pay nothing, I haven't paid a dime in 4 years my INS covers it all of course I applied as homeless and got 24 hour emergency medical care mass health i n ma is the best!!!

I live in TN I go to a sub clinic . She is a psychiatrist. I asked her to help me with weight gain and asked her to put me on phentrain. she said that the two mixed can be deadly. I know she is lying because I have done plenty of research on the subject. So I went to my PCP amd told him a out my issue and he told me that because I have been given the suboxone I have been labeled a "junkie" and he can not subscribe me anything for weight loss. My pcp also told me not to go to a weight loss clinic because they don't care about me they just want my money. So he told me not to go get help from someone else but he wouldn't help me wother. I am going to go to a dirt clinic and get the medication anyway because I have gained 36 pounds in the past 8 months.

Hi Jennifer. I had the same issue and found getting health insurance was cheaper. Also, there are suboxone programs that will send you discount cards. Google suboxone patient assistance programs. Hope this helps.

I have AARP Walgreens preferred and they pay for my buprenorphine, 60 a month, but will pay for up to 90 a month. Idk if suboxone is covered. I know they are the same but it may be the brand that makes the difference.

I too have been prescribed both and I found that when I took them both in the morning the subs seemed to enhance the side effects of the Phentermine (my personal experience might be different to others) so I started taking the Phentermine early in the morning and I take the sub at night before bed and since doing that I don’t have as many side effects. I still have the normal common side effects of Phentermine but not like what I was having when taking them both in the morning. Hope this helps.

Hi, I just read your post & I totally agree with what you said for the most part & I'm an addict also who is prescribed Suboxone but I am very observative & always have my ears & eyes open and you are right about addicts feeling entitled to other narcotic medication. I think for some, after some time of taking Suboxone it becomes not enough anymore and therefore the addict starts thinking of what drug she could ask for to put a little pep in her or his step & then they end up with a prescription for a stimulant, then after a while they realize they are restless at night & can't get enough good sleep and that leads to the addict seeking sleeping or anxiety meds such as Xanax or Valium. But, what's next? What else will the addict seek? It is a vicious cycle & an overwhelming urge to feel better more & more each day. When does it stop? It's cunning & baffling to say in the least.
