How are you? Yes, you can if your doctor approves, but if you start them when you aren't on your period, you will need to take them for a full 7 days, before they will become effective at preventing pregnancy. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, spotting and PMS-like symptoms. My dr gave me thes sprintec bc stop my period I took them for a week and a half I started them to regulate my cycle to get pregnant do one if the pills make you fertile if I take just the blue or white 1s ## No, these pills will not improve your fertility and help you to get pregnant, while you are taking them they actually prevent pregnancy. From what you're describing, it seems he's given them to you so they could help rebalance the hormones in your body, to improve your chances of getting pregnant later, when you stop taking them. However, you won't get pregnant while you are taking them. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. I was prescribed sprintec as an OC three days before my period was due. I was not given any specific instructions by my gyno about taking the pill, so I started the pack the day I got them. I didn't know until afterwards that the rule of thumb was to wait until the first day of your period or the Sunday after your period. I started my period almost immediately after taking the first pill (3days early) and I had it for the whole first week of my sprintec pack. What should I expect when I get to the 4th week/placebo week? ## Hello, Mammie35! How are you? That 4th week will be your regular period week, from now on. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, PMS-like symptoms and breakthrough bleeding. I...

I started taking sprintec in May because I wasn't having a period at all. When I started the white pills on my first pack of sprintec, my period came and it lasted about a week. That also happened all through June. Then I took off about a month and started up again about 6 days ago and I might not have taken it on time, for a couple of the days (meaning a couple hours late). Also on the sixth day of the first week, I had unprotected intercourse. My question is, what is the provability of me being pregnant? ## Hello, Danielle! How are you? When did you start it, when you began taking it, again? Did you start the first or second day of your period? If so, you were immediately protected from pregnancy. However, if you started on the third day or any point later in your cycle, then you...

I need help i take my pill at 3 pm and i mis sed it for 5 1/2 hours late... And i took it until i remembered can i be pregnant? Mi concerned.... Plz help ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? You have a window of about 12 hours, before it's even considered a late pill and 24 hours, before it's even considered a missed pill, thus you should be fine, unless your doctor sees some reason to be concerned. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have taken sprintec for a few months now. I have always taken it on time but today I forgot. I usually take it at 7am and ended up taking it at 10:30 pm tonight. It's my 3rd blue pill for week 2.. If I take...

I've been on tri sprintec for about a year now. Im on my LAST white pill today (saturday) bUT still have not had my period this week and I usually start on Wednesdays. Is that normal and should I still start my new pack tomorrow even though I haven't started my period? ## Hello, Angee! How are you? Yes, you should still start the new pack on schedule, unless you missed any pills, so there's a risk of pregnancy, or your doctor advises otherwise. Some women do skip periods, start late or stop having them entirely, while on oral contraceptives. The FDA lists other possible side effects as including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just got prescribed sprintec. I just ended my period 5 days ago. Can I start it now? My doctor asked if I could wait until the end of next period but if not make sure to have a backup birth control method. So can I start today? ## Hello, Lindsey! How are you? As long as your doctor approves, you can start any time, but you will need to take them for a full 7 days, before they will reach their full level of efficacy in your body to prevent pregnancy. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, spotting and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I have my period today (Thursday) but can I start taking Tri-Sprintec on Sunday instead of today? Because I will be on a vacation next month and I dont want to have my period during those days. ## Hello, Charm! How are you? No, as long as your doctor approves, you can start it at any time, but if you don't start it on the first or second day of your period, it will take 7 days to reach its full level of efficacy in your body to prevent pregnancy, so you'll need to use some other form of protection for the first week. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, spotting and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started Sprintec to regulate my period. Can I start back anytime? And if I do start any time, will I get my period? ## Hello, Taylor! How are you? You can start back any time, as long as your doctor approves. If you aren't on your period, it will take 7 days of taking it, before it will protect against pregnancy. You should get your period, when you take the last pills in the packet. I recently switched over to tri sprintec birth control. My husband and I have decided to start trying to have a baby. So I haven't completed a full pill packet cycle, and i havent been taking them at the same time each morning. As soon as we agreed to have a baby I stopped taking the pills immediately. I believe it was the first or second day of taking the white pill. Right now I'm towards the end of the packet. I have been having spotting this week. So my question is could I become pregnant if we are already trying, or do I have to wait for my ovulation? ## Hello, Angie! How are you? You can't get pregnant, until ovulation occurs and an egg is released to be fertilized. The spotting is most likely due to stopping the pills, because your body has to readjust your hormones on...

I regularly skip over my period by taking Day 1 of Week 1 when I would normally start my white pills; however, I forgot to pick up my upcoming month's prescription before travelling abroad. I have left over packs from several months ago when I was not consistent. These leftover packs only have week 2 or week 3 left in them. I have 9 days left until my white pills start. If I take the beginning of week 3 from my leftover (day 15) on the day I was supposed to take day 1 of of the new month can I still stop my period? Will the birth control still prevent pregnancy?

I have missed my period the last 3 months, I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative, can I start taking sprintec or do I need to go see a doctor? ## Hello, Megan! How are you? If you've not consulted your doctor about the issue, then it would be best to do so, before starting the Sprintec, to be safe. You may be experiencing a hormonal imbalance and might need a different hormonal dosage to correct the issue. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, PMS-like symptoms and breakthrough bleeding. Are you on any other medications? I use to be on sprintec then I switched to depo. I like depo more than sprintec but I no longer have insurance so I can't have depo anymore. I have two month supply of sprintec left I'm 5 days into my period would it be okay for me to start taking sprintec again? Will it mess up my cycle again and would my body be okay if I switched back to depo when I get my insurance back? I'm jus really concerned about it and like I said I have no more insurance to go talk about it with my doctor. Thanks ## Yes that should be fine, as long as your doctor approves. Many women switch multiple times to find which one works best for them, or to use a less expensive option. However, if you start that late in your cycle, you'll need to use backup protection for the first full 7 days of taki...

I've been on Sprintec for like 7 months, I've always had a period and I always take my pills. I normally take my pill at 4:00 in the afternoon but one day me and my husband were at the grocery store and I ended up taking it 30 minutes late. Hello! I didn't have a tri sprintec birth control packet for a week, and missed a week of those pills. I'm on the second week, and the 4th week is when I'm scheduled to start. My period app says I was supposed to start yesterday 11-30 and now I'm a day late, when will my period start? ## Hello, Shelby! How are you? Missing that week has most likely thrown off your hormonal balance, so your cycle may not follow it's normal track. It can take a couple months for things to settle down and become regular, some women don't have periods on this oral contraceptive, at all. Hello, I have been taking Tri-Sprintec for 5 days now, and I continue to feel nauseated, and a sense of unhappiness. Is this normal? Should I switch to a different kind? ## Hi Lizzie, Sorry to hear about how you're feeling on Tri-Sprintec. According to nih.gov, "nausea" and "altered moods" are indeed listed as potential side effects. If these symptoms have become too bothersome or severe it may be a good idea to contact your doctor about other alternatives. However it's also important to note that the very same thing could happen on another brand as well, depending on how your body responds. Not everyone who takes contraceptives gets such side effects, but it seems the only way to truly find out is to actually try them for yourself over a period of time until you...
