Soma (carisoprodol) In Oklahoma

Updated

My GP recently stopped prescribing me Soma after many years of successful treatment with no other changes in medications. I go to a pain specialist for long term injury and they do not prescribe soma. I've heard that the best bet for getting back to my previous treatment plan may be to find a new GP who would prescribe soma. Does anyone have any idea of how to find this out about the specific doctors or know of any in the Tulsa, OK area who do? Please let me know, I cannot take all of the other muscle relaxants I've been prescribed to try.

Soma is and does many things but rest assured it does not provide "successful treatment" of any part of the body. That is why it is being slowly phased out

I'm looking for a doctor who prescribes soma in Tulsa, OK. I have been on them for 22 years... Please help. They have always helped me with my scoliosis, bulging disc and back pain. I have recently been changed to different medicine which are even stronger than Soma..and are making me physically sick...and they also give me a feeling I do not like. I just wished they would give me back my Soma and stop messing with my medicine!!!

I too have taken Soma for 22 plus years..my doctor had to STOP prescribing soma. I have been in pain ever since. I have a Pain management doctor who I would gladly give up if I could get on soma again. There is NO high..I don't feel any pain when I take soma. I have never heard of anyone dying on soma and Xanax combined and also have taken both for scoliosis, osteoporosis, hip and joint pain..also have had a fracture on T- 12 In spine.. I will still be trying to find another doctor who would help with my condition...good luck to ALL who the doctors who prescribe Pericet with Xanax..that is deadly!! I think it depends on how close u are taking both meds together and how many u take..but I still know that soma are far better than a damn Percocet!!!

Re: EDDY (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Your right. My doctor only RX's Soma if a patient asks for it. In his opinion they are worthless. I really dont understand why patients are not being RX'ed them anymore. They only a class 4. If a new patient has all of his/her paperwork, MRI's, X RAYS, I don't see why any doctor would say no

Re: EDDY (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Its not being "phased out" I have several friends who have been RX'ed Soma for years. Maybe some doctors are hesitant to RX it to youngsters but Im in my 60's as are most of my friends. I no longer take it since Im now on Methadone Maintenance and I dont need it, plus I really never liked them. They really didn't help me.

Re: Glenda (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

watch out for eddy and verwon they are on every thread and either rum this feds or pharma pigs. i tale dan soma watson now activas and they work well I am curious about other generics. now I'm so sorry to hear your problem. i ram into the same issue but got lucky and found a GP who knew my history well enougj to understand I need them. it was rough though finding a new GP who would rx soma these days. but somas work better than pain meds in my opinion and truly they do but for some reason they want to phase them out I guess cause people are dying from taking them with benzos and or lain pills I haven't had any issues and I have last sleep apnia test many times so I don't know. I'm sorry it is hard these days I would suggest finding an older GP who is compassionate and is willing to care. see my issue is my GP will rx my soma but is a huge jerk to me even about being sick and antibiotics so I don't see much of that GP other than this reason. i have since searched for a new one willing to rx soma to me and will be compassionate to my illnesses in every way not just soma but I would suggest keep looking for another understanding older GP new Drs these days are taught not to rx soma. also some psychiatrists are willing to rx this but even rarer than a new GP I hope this helps and any feedback on good soma other than dan let me know

Re: Glenda (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

It is so sad and ridiculous how they would rather prescribe opiates than soma nowadays. And soma helps with pain way more than opiates. Don't listen to Eddy, he is trolling. But yes, I feel you. I see my Dr soon for my Soma refill. Hope all goes well.

Re: Patrice (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

Are you on the methadone tablets or the methadone liquid each day? If so, how did you transition to your methadone? Via a clinic or through a Dr prescribing them?

Re: Glenda (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

therein a new law by the fad that states docs cannot deny you a soma rx just because on pain meds or bento even though it can be dangerous they are to no longer keep rx from patients who need them jus because they are on xanax or pain meds and yes soma helps much better than any pain med look into this new law bout how docs cannot interview on someone who is on xanax and pain relief or soma and needs the other cuz docs will say if u get off the soma i will rx pain meds or if u get off the xanax i will rx soma or pain meds but they are no longer legally able to do this they can voice their opinion but cannot not rx it because of this check it out

Re: Speedy (# 14) Expand Referenced Message

You are absolutely wrong about Federal Law with Xanax & Soma although I don't doubt a State might restrict sales. This IS common with an Opioid/Benzo/Soma combination under new Federal guidelines.

Re: EDDY (# 15) Expand Referenced Message

This has been a policy with Walgreens in AZ for several years. They will not fill opiate, benzo and soma together. Pick two

Re: Speedy (# 14) Expand Referenced Message

In Oklahoma it's almost impossible to get Soma while taking Xanax. This is Doctors choice I think as I find no law that says that.
The Good news is I received a RX for 2 a day a couple of days ago. This is from the same DR. that took them away, He said since I've been on Xanax for 30 years he will allow it.
He has been very cautious since the Dea took some of his fils including mine. I thought that would be illegal guess not.
I guess every Dr. has their own set of rules.
I'm sick of the whole mess.

I took SOMA for years with good results. It did not make me tired or loopy and when I took it in concert with OxyContin, I was able to a fully functioning person. Then the stories and flat out lies about OxyContin started and my pretty good life went to Hell. I lost the only pain medication that ever approached success followed in short order by loss of SOMA, the only muscle relaxer that worked for me. I learned the other day that an Indian Pharma makes a 500mg SOMA with 15 mg Codeine and 325 Aspirin. I tried to order it, but my friend can only get straight SOMA. It does not work as well as the SOMA I got 10 years ago, but it is better than anything I can get from an MD. I no longer ask for prescription pain medications. It costs me a great deal of money, but this way I have at least some control.

Your Doctor is working outside of revised DEA Guidelines and violating that Triangle warning. However, since you have been so nasty by calling me names I am not going to waste my time.

That's one I've never heard of two rx's for the same med and with Xanax, I have been on Xanax for over thirty years. You would think that subject would come up if the situation or condition was as bad as mine sounds like a od. waiting to happen are you on opioids and soma too?

Re: Patrice (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

There are pharmaceutical companies that have discontinued making them in the last several months. I do believe it's like 4 or 5 of the pharmaceutical companies. There are still companies that will make them. However with the ones that have discontinued them it has caused a shortage everywhere for them. Most pharmacies are backordered trying to get them in. I don't know about them being phased out but I do know that some of the companies decided to discontinue making them.

Cheek, you are right on the money, the Dea. has a name for the three at the same time some kind of triangle. Walgreens will not fill rx's from my Dr. At least mine. His office has a notice about walgreen's and Walmart
