I took accutane as an early teenager and sense then my period cramps got progressively worse I am 20 years old now and I have been put on prescription pain killers for my cramps. I also have had at least one ovarian cyst. From my research it seems that the two could be linked. I am 100% positive that Accutane made my skin highly sensitive (I must wear sun block every day year round or I burst into flames like a vampire). Could it have also cause my severe cramps? Also, I am in a serious relationship, which has made me wonder if I may have trouble getting pregnant in the future. Does anyone have any knowledge pertaining to this? ## Hello, KenCat! How are you? The long-term problems that may be caused by Accutane are still under dispute. Have you consulted your doctor? There is a chance i...

Can I relax my hair and use Clobex shampoo? ## Clobex (Clobetasol) is used to treat the itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin and scalp conditions. Hair relaxers tend to have so many ingredients (as much as 50 or more) that one would have to check each and every interaction between them and the shampoo in order to know for sure. Having relaxed my own hair in the past, I would be willing to give it a shot and see how your hair reacts. In general however, the hair should remain relaxed for at least a few weeks despite using various shampoos. It could be contraindicating however if the shampoo is for curls and you relaxed your hair to be straight. That would really be the only concern in my honest opinion. Have you tried it yet with any ...

Hi, my age is 25 years. I was diagnosed with lichen planus when I was 6 years old. It had spread on my legs, including hips and thighs, and also my waist and some part of my stomach. It was not present on my face, hands, and shoulders. The disease has been treated, and there are no eruptions left on my body, only the marks remain. As I am getting married in December this year, I would like to know about some good ointments that can help reduce the marks. Is Topisal ointment good for this sort of thing? I have heard that it is very powerful, and if we use it on normal skin areas, it makes that area thinner and more sensitive. I do not want to go for any treatment like laser or chemical peeling. Please suggest some good ointments for my dry skin.

I am a 63 year old Indian (Asian) male. I have been taking medications for high BP for the past 15 years. Currently I am taking - Coversyl AM 4/5, Lorvas SR, Angispan TR 2.5 mg, Clopitab 75 mg, Nefrosave, Febuget 40 mg. In the last 6 months (Aug 2013 to Feb 2014) my urea level has gone up from 55 to 100, uric acid from 3.0 6.0 and serum creatinine remained at 2.0. Electrolytes continue to remain within the range. I do not observe any physical changes such as swelling of feet or tiresomeness. I am agile and active. Could you please suggest a way out to keep my urea within the range? I am a strict vegetarian and don't even eggs. Do you suggest any restrictions on specific vegetables. Or, is dialysis the only answer? ## i can give parmanent solution for bp and for ur health=====don...

I have been having a lot of problems . Recently . And I won't to know if they are being caused by my use of acutane while being in the air force both of my shoulders or really painful ## Hello, Ted! How are you doing? Sorry about the problem that you're having. Has Accutane been known to sometimes cause lifelong problems in people that took it? Yes, it has. Can anyone online say whether or not that is what has caused your issue? No, we cannot. Have you consulted your doctor? That so the only way you are going to get a proper diagnosis and a solution, if any.

Is it possible to get Pyrithione Zinc only to add to your own products? I don't like sulfates. ## Hello, Dayleeyah! How are you? I'm sure it's possible, because labs have to be able to get a hold of it for manufacturing purposes, but there may be special licenses required and such, I'm not sure. There are sulfate free products already available. Have you tried any of them?

Hi – I took Absorica (Accutane/Isotretinoin) for 5 Mos @ 80mg Feb - Aug. 2013. Currently at 6 months post-med (Feb. 2014) and still detoxing – Redness, inflammations, facial eczema. To describe it, it almost appears the drug is slowly burning/flushing out of my skin. All areas – chin, upper lips, cheeks, forehead, hairline. Is this normal for being 6 months post-med? Does anyone still have these effects this long after the last dose? Heart goes out to those experiencing side effects – Experienced reactions to everything from glucose/fruit acids/potato-starches/fish oil supplements/vitamins/etc. Best, ## Hello, Jake! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. Have you consulted a dermatologist? It would be odd to have such side eff...

I was on accutane in the early 90's (right after it was approved) and it did the job at the time. Now, 20 years later, I went through a severe episode of osteolysis, where my jaw bones literally melted away. I had 4 gum surgery to remove bad tissues, gum grafts, and I have scaling (deep gum cleaning with the hook from hell) every 4 months. Is there anyone else out there with the same problems that took accutane in the past? The very nature of this problem, that is an asymptomatic periodontisis with bone loss, is a very long process, and subtle one. So if this is accutane related, I doubt that it is a well documented long term side effect yet. Anyway, I am asking because 2 dentist told me that I was not the first one to bring up this link between accutane and gum/bone problems. Thank...

I've been on Isotretinoin for 6 months and my dermatologist said I have another 2 months to go at least as I am still a grade 2. However, after serious consideration, I have decided to get off the medication and try antibiotics and topical creams again (though they did not work the first time I tried them). I was generally a physical person, but once starting Isotretinoin, I found it hard to walk up the stairs without being out of breath. I experienced incredible headaches which I tried to manage by blocking out all light and noise, though that rarely helped. I am a pilot and had to stop flying for months because I didn't feel I could physically task myself with it. Flying isn't particularly demanding physically yet still I was unable to manage it. My skin was very, very dry...

I've been taking Gonadil capsules over the last two weeks but now I have small pimples on my face. Please let me know if this is a side effect or what might've happened? ## What are Gonadil capsules for? ## From the information I've found, Gonadil is a nutritional supplement that contains nutrients believed to help balance hormones for treating conditions such as PCOD/PCOS. And due to that, yes they could cause acne, since they are affecting your hormonal balance. Have you consulted your doctor for assistance?

gemcal ds is prescribed by my doctor for osteoporosis for lower back pain . is it worth taking . ## This is actually just a multivitamin supplement, the regular Gemcal contains Calcitrol, Calcium and Zinc, I would guess that the DS formulation also contains something else, but I can't find any specific information on it. It will not actually treat pain, but by supplementing these vital minerals, especially the calcium, it might help prevent worsening of the Osteoporosis. Are there any other questions? ## It looks like Gemcal DS is actually supposed to contain Calcium Carbonate 1250 mg + Calcitriol 0.25 mcg, typically prescribed for osteoporosis. So it sounds similar to the regular Gemcal, but does vary in its formulation. ## I used to take gemcal ds for 1month that tym it dint pain ...

My dermatologist reccomended the medication Isotretinoin for me and strongly suggests it. But while reading over the side effects, me and my father had a lot of second thoughts and said we'd think our decision over. Our doctor said the only side effect that would mainly occur are chapped lips and some depression. If anyone can help me out with either their experiences or has known someone who has taken it, let me know. I'm still a 'kid' and need to know what i'm doing before taking action. ## Some depression wow... My son was on the drug, now depressed and can't sleep. The guilt I have is overbearing. Type in isotretinoin and brain at google scholar and research. The Dr. has apparently never been clinically depressed. ## I don't think it's that bad. I too...

I am currently a 17 year old male and senior in highschool, and suffered from acne for over 5 years. In 8th grade acne started invading my face. Freshman year it continued, and would not go away. We tried creams, pills just about anything you could possibly try. My sophmore year is when it erupted. Acne started forming on my back and chest, and I literally had boils on my back and chest. It was very painful. I also play football, and it hurt very bad to put on my shoulder pads, and the embarassment to even take my shirt off in the locker room after practice. It caused me a lot of stress. It hurt to take showers because the water would hit these boils. I had cystic acne. I had over 15 large pimples/boils on my back and chest both. This continued for another year. As I still tried creams,...

I am currently on Accutane medication and I have been taking it for the past 2 and a half weeks. The first week when I started taking it, it coincided with my vacation in Hawaii. As you can imagine, I was exposed to sun in Hawaii and after my trip I noticed these brown spots (which sort of look like freckles) on my right hand. The strange thing is that it's only on my one hand for now, nowhere else. I've never experienced something like this. Is it possible that Accutane caused it? If so, will those spots go away? ## Here's a link to a picture of the brown spots I'm referring to: s.yimg.com/hd/answers/i/50476d0a652b4730.jpeg ## Hello, Aniiulka7! How are you doing? I'm 16 and I've had acne for just over 2 years. I've tried loads of different tablets and creams and none have worked so my doctor transferred me to a dermatologist. My last option was to use Accutane and I have to take 20mg two times a day. This is my second day of taking it and since I've woke up this morning I've felt lightheaded and still got it now and also when I was laid in bed I had a little spasm in my hand and my fingers moved which kind of worried me. I don't know if I'm over reacting because I know the side effects of this drug but is this normal on the second day? I've been reading what people have been putting about this drug and it's worrying me a lot about depression and how it can affect you later on in life with pain. I've been u...
