Side Effects Of Suboxone (Page 5)

Updated

I have been on suboxone now for just under a month. I think it is an amazing drug, i have had no cravings or interest in returning to opiates, my drug of choice was oxy. I get up every day feeling happy, and am able to take on what ever the day brings me. I am also on lexapro for depression at this time. There is one problem after i take my dose, which is 8 mg. twice a day, I am extremely tired sometimes to the point where if i sit down I will nod off, so I keep moving and can usually fight through it. I am wondering do other people feel this way or does it get better the longer you are on it? Two other things that are sometimes very bothersome are dizzyness and extreme dry mouth. I just wanted to find out other peoples experiences. Thanx

Don, I am so pleased to hear that it is working for you. And Thankyou for you kind words. I did switch up my regimn and am now takingmy subs at night . This has helped tremendously with the nodding and all the works I previously described. So now I take 4mg at night before bed and sleep very well and then dont have to take anything till 5 or 6 p.m. anyway what I'm saying is this works better for me and I'm kinda happy with that.

First off, congrats to everyone who is off of the hard stuff and on Suboxone. After 18 months of taking the 8mg/2mg strips (2 a day, then 1 a day), I have weaned off, down to 1/2 strip per day.
Wondering about why I was sleeping 11-14 hours a night, I finally Googled and found this forum. It seems like Suboxone does cause alot of fatigue. It has been a godsend, but I am looking forward to getting off of it for good.

Well the withdrawel from the subs may be worse. But for now being on the subs is a much healthier alternative rather then 10 to 12 perc 10s a day...and as long as i get off the subs within a couple weeks i dont forsee it being to bad....i hope!

Hi Danielle, Yes, I have alot of sleepiness problems with Suboxone. I have been on it for almost 18 months. Finally tapering off. Take it slow and taper off. I am also on Lexapro (for 5 years). I think the Suboxone makes you sleepy. Congrats on quitting the heavy stuff.

You're probably taking too much sub. if you're nodding off. I've been on suboxone for four years now and I've had the nodding off too when I first started. My doctor has cut me down (w/me telling him to) from three 8 milligram to one 8 milligram pill a day. I used to do 3-4 80 oxys too. You don't need as much Suboxone to help w/the oxys addiction. A small bit of suboxone goes a long way. Good luck!

Thanks Suzy, I am down to 2.5mg per day. My back pain is flaring up though. This is the hard part. Has anyone had this "rebound pain" when weaning off of the Suboxone?

For Suboxone to "work" you first need to be addicted to opoids - painkillers -oxys -etc.

...then (this is very impt)... you need to be in withdrawl for a minumum of 24 hours for the suboxone to work.

If you are not in withdrawl, the suboxone will give you the effect of an opoid withdrawl. It does not get you high. It is like a nicotine patch for nicotine withdrawl.

My doctor told me that if the suboxone makes me drowsy that you can take it before bedtime. It wouldnt hurt you to take it any time. If you want though double check with your doctor because everyone is different. I love suboxone, it gave me my life back. Sounds cheesy I know but it's the truth :)

If you had opiates of any kind in your system that's probably why you got sick. Suboxone has an opiate antagonist in it. A good ingredient to deter the ex addict looking to relapse;)

I see a lot of people on here saying they are taking barbiturates along with their suboxone ...I just find that strange because my doc told me never to mix the two together, that it can be life threatening. He advised me not to even so much as take otc sleep medication along with it.

the same thing happens to me!! the twitching. almost every single night, when i'm relaxed and just about asleep- i twitch! sometimes it's real bad to the point that my entire body will jerk, so sudden and hard that it shakes the whole bed. my husband hates it, he says it looks like i'm about to leviate off the bed, thats how hard the twitches can get. sometimes it's just my leg, or my foot, or my arm(s). it's so weird because i NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM in my life! but i did notice that the twitching didn't start til after i started suboxone, and they have gottn worse from the time i started suboxone to now.

CONGRATS John.. I've been on Suboxone now for almost 4 month's at 3 8mg.'s per day but the clinic I go to charges $400.00 per month and my insurance pay's for all of my drug test's and I have to go every 10 day's to get my prescription and they do a count (on the 10th day you have none left & they call it in) and I only see a physician once per month.. I just cannot afford paying that much but afraid all of my back pain will return due top 4 spinal fracture's, 2 compressed and 2 bulging disc's and also terrified of having craving's.. Suboxone gave me my life back in SO many ways and I even plan on returning to college and finishing up to get my degree as an R.N... Since I've seen people talking about ALL of the horrible withdrawal's it does terrify me.. I don't have a lot of support.. My b/f who is a HEAVY pot smoker thinks taking any med.'s makes you some drug addict but it's like smoking pot is nothing and he constantly puts me down for even using the sub's.. I live with him and unfortunately have no other place to go to.. Hell just being around him trigger's me into wanting some type of opiate if I were not taking sub's.. I've tapered down in the 3 and a half month's I've been on subs from 3 of the 8 mg.'s to 2 8 mg.'s and some day's 1 & 3/4th's..Gosh I wish I were around U guy's on a daily basis.. I feel like all recovering drug addict's need their own neighborhood's because it's like no one who has ever been addicted to them does not understand while they sit back and judge and they have either shopping, gambling, sex or some other addiction.. I'm judged WORSE by my b/f with NO encouragement so I feel a bit left in the dark.. I've been with him. unfortunately for almost 10 yr.'s but saw a guy I went to high school with the other day and I've NEVER went out on my b/f but I feel like he is driving me to it.. If anyone has any suggestion's PLEASE reply and thanks to EVERYONE for their post's.. you ALL are light a bright ray of sunshine and so proud of U all and even myself..
