Side Effects Of Suboxone (Page 4)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I have been on suboxone now for just under a month. I think it is an amazing drug, i have had no cravings or interest in returning to opiates, my drug of choice was oxy. I get up every day feeling happy, and am able to take on what ever the day brings me. I am also on lexapro for depression at this time. There is one problem after i take my dose, which is 8 mg. twice a day, I am extremely tired sometimes to the point where if i sit down I will nod off, so I keep moving and can usually fight through it. I am wondering do other people feel this way or does it get better the longer you are on it? Two other things that are sometimes very bothersome are dizzyness and extreme dry mouth. I just wanted to find out other peoples experiences. Thanx

I would say you're taking too much. I've been on Subs for quite a few years. I used to feel that way. i started at 3 8 milligram tabs a day, but now I just take one a day which seems to be the right amount for me. I don't feel all tired all the time, etc. Good luck.

Yeah that's what's wrong, you're taking a lot. Can I ask why they have you on so much, compared to before when you first started?? It seems counter productive to start at 2 mg then build UP to sixteen. Is it for pain? Even then I only know of one person who is prescribed a dose close to that and she has a titanium rod for half a spine or something.

If it's to treat addiction that's more detrimental to your sobriety than anything and I would seek a doctor whose ultimate goal is to get you off everything, like it should ultimately be utilized, not lining his pockets with cash.

FYI, at high doses it made me feel very irritable too. I have BPD, PTSD and a high serotonin level though which could contribute.

Suboxine is for detox or for long term opiate tx. They may start you at 8mg ×3 daily, but should cut you 8mg bid.. I find it saved my life.. I was at the end of a nasty H addicted life.. so you can put it down but to me, beats the hell out of the chase, how to fund the chase, o.d.'ing and the legal bs i've been through... ..btw: if you nod, cut back, you'll be surprised how little you need.

What are you prescribed 3/8 mg subs a day for? That's insane and the reason your nodding out, probably along with the kolinipon, I was prescribed it as well and I blacked out on them doing insane things. But yes that's a crazy amount of suboxone, you may want to relay this info to your doc so they can put you on a legitimate dose, unless you've been a H addict your whole life or live with PARALYZING pain, ask any other physician and they'll agree.

Sounds like your doc may be more worried about pharmaceutical kick backs instead of your health and well being.

Dear Diane, I totally know what u r going through. I take 3 (8mg) subs a day and I'm also on medication 4 anxiety and depression. (Klonopin and trazodone) so, I know what u r going through. I have been on subs 4 almost 8 years and I still am very tired. I take naps whenever I can. If I'm not napping, I'm nodding. I can't tell u if it will ever go away, it's one of the side effects. The dry mouth is also another side effect. However, there is something u can use that helps with that. It's called Biotene. My dentist recommended it , and , it really works! GOOD LUCK!

suboxne gave me the worst withdraw from only taking it for 27 days frist week couldent sleep extreme back pain depression not wanting to get up off bed, second week back pain went away, but still couldnt sleep tossing turning id fall a sleep at 4:00am for only may be 2hours.im still not fully recuperated..i dont recommend them for long term use to get off of what ever opiate, best thing to do is 21 days detox of methadone, and i dont suggest long term of methadon either, for i was on it for 5years went donw till i hit 3mg and next day i felt pain on legs but i had suboxone all i did was prolonged my withdraws, should of took them for a week only,my bad..if your on methadon dont take the suboxone together, must wait 48hours or else you can get very ill

I imagine you already know suboxone is used, for the most part successfully, in pain management. On the topic of what's appropriate to use along with subs; I've used flexoril while taking subs myself and had no ill side effects. You obviously can not under any circumstances take anything containing any form of opiates unless you'd like to experience a personal hell. I'd imagine this would be better suited to ask your doctor, not people online who only go by personal experience/opinions not an educated fact.

Good luck!

FYI there are many forums here pertaining to utilizing suboxone for pain management.

Hey Melissa,

First off you need to find out if your doctor has an empty spot for the Here To Help program. They're only allowed three patients per doc enrolled at a time, even if they're full, get on a waiting list.

So now let's assume they have an opening, you'll call the HTH call center and talk to a rep (get extension number so you can deal with only them, easier especially if a problem arises). When they verify that you qualify for assistance they will give the option of mailing or faxing the forms (only two pages) directly to your doctor office. Opt for the faxing, go to your doc office have them fill out and fax back while you're there. This seems mundane but it all helps to expedite the authorization process.

After that I would wait a business day and call the agent you spoke with, verifying the fax was received and you may even get your coverage information to use immediately over the phone before your card is mailed in.

I'm going to post the number for HTH directly but it's probably not allowed on this site. They can be sticklers.

BTW, I believe you qualify as long as you have NO INSURANCE and if I remember correctly income amount is not an issue. And the assistance only lasts a year.

I agree. For one having you on Suboxone for two years for hydrocodone is ridiculous. I used opanas and mainly perk 30s when no opanas around and I'll be done with Suboxone treatment about 18-20 months. Ive been weaning for about six, seven months already. I usually take less then prescribed. I've read up on weird, random clinical trials and apparently there isn't a documented benefit to prolonging the weaning process and the RECOMMENDED therapeutic treatment terms are anywhere from nine to twelve months. Obviously substantially less then the required two years.

Its a racket, just like pills.

I would've been better to of weaned off much earlier then what they wanted. I've put on weight, constantly constipated, spacey and just generally weird. I am thankful that I'm not nearly ready to suck, kill or steal to get whatever fix I needed like I felt before on dope anymore. ..so yeah that's always a plus.

Yeah true that. I was on the subs for 2 years and your right, the doctor's will get you hooked and then you feel like you want to die coming off the meds. I hate that I ever took them now. Its been a month and a half since I last had them and I feel like crap. My eyes are so blurry and I feel so depress as well, feel like I lost all of my joy I'm not happen I get very angry very quick can't stand being around people, but though it all I thank God everyday because it could of been worse. Now I'm trying to regain my focus on life and getting myself back to normal. My only advice for anyone who are or will be taking them is not, do not take them they are not good for long term. If you need to only 3 months at the most depends on your drug of choice. Mind was Vicodin. Please people do your research before taking the subs.
