Took bacterium/ spectra for possible bladder infection after 2pills I lost my appetite and now I have stopped taking it and have diarrhea did this happen to any one else please help thanks

This describes my symptoms to a T. I am 47, female and healthy, average weight, do not smoke or drink. I should bounce back quick right? Well a week later the aches and hives have faded but I still do not feel normal and keep having a hell of a headache everyday. Wondering when my appetite will return, been depressed too, I also take benedryl to help sleep. Over all improvement, but wow this stuff is poison!

I had nerve decompression surgery for neuropathy in left foot. An incision on my left ankle was infected day after surgery. Surgeon put me on kflex for a week and infection spread up my leg. It was hot and super swollen with pain I haven't experienced in some time. My surgeon sent me to an infectious disease Doctor who put me on IV antibiotics Televancin. After two weeks it was almost gone with a swollen knot by my ankle. I as prescribed Bactrim DS for fourteen days. After 3 days the infection is gone thank goodness. Cellulitis was my diagnosis which really scared me considering it can kill you if not stopped! I won't have another surgery unless my life depends on it. Dr. Said I was infected from the hospital.

I took Bactrim ds and now I am having severe pain in my upper torso and my throat feels like it is closing up all the time. I stopped taking it and now I have taken so much prednisone I feel like I might explode from that. The pain is so bad I am taking pain meds. But they don't help went to Er and they gave me dilaudid and that helped but that seems to be the only thing to relieve the pain of this my neck feels like it's going to explode.. My chest stays red and hot to the touch. I am shaky and really agitated at times .. Ugh help any advice would be great.. It truly hurts to touch me..

I started the drug for a possible sinus/ear infection and staph infection in my nose---I had been having sores in my nose since 2013 on/off. I actually saw the ENT for feeling lightheaded while driving and she noticed the sores in my nose and that my one ear looked like there was pressure behind it.
Anyway, on 5th day of taking the med, I felt a sunburn like feeling lower back, left. Sensitive to touch. I stopped the med, the feeling was gone in the morning. however I now have burning (not sensitive to touch tho--hopefully it stays that way) on arms, back of legs, neck, shoulders, chest, upper back--tho not all at once.
I dont know if it's due to the med or not since I've been having nerve issues (not sure of cause--theories are fibro, Lyme, neurotransmitter issues) for a while, tho never burning.
Anyone else have this? I've been off the med for 7 days now.
My mom had allodynia (sensitive skin) on her lower legs/feet but she was diabetic, so thats always a fear of mine, tho I am not diabetic.

This is an update. After my post it really took about a month to feel healthy again. I seem to have no residual effects. I only took about 5 days of this medication but will NEVER take it again. Doctors said if Bactrim has this effect I should be considered allergic to all sulfa antibiotics and never take a sulfa antibiotics again.

I have been taking Bactrim for 6 days for a sinus infection and i have noticed for the last 4 days i can be sitting not doing anything and all of a sudden my face gets real hot and i look like a tomato! Is that normal?

I hate to say it but this does indeed sound like a side effect. My first sign was red and hot splotches that turned into full upper body redness. I felt like I had a 3rd degree sunburn. Eyes turned that way too. Main thing is you need to pay close attention to your breathing. If your tongue feels "thick" or swollen OR if your throat feels the same you need to go to the ER or call your Dr if they're open. Some people take several before their bodies say NO MORE. I only took one and it nearly killed me! :( please be very careful.

Yes. Day 3 my stomach started making loud noises. I was throwing up horribly and had explosive diarrhea.

I have been taking bactrim for three days once every 13 hours for an h pylori infection. I noticed my neck got a little sore and my those feels a little sore as well... then this morning I noticed little red bumps on my face. They don't itch but they are there. Is this normal hen taking antibiotics or should I stop taking the medication?

Bactrim (all sulfa based antibiotics) can cause significant drop in platelet count that is very dangerous. Always seek professional help asap

I want to ask a question about something eles where do I go to ask it. When I was in the hospital I was given medication I'm alejec to and it caused a heart attack the worse part is nobody told me I had to get my records and read about it .i feel it s not right

I'm having this same reaction after just one dose! I will not finish this medication, I will finish the Kelflex they prescribed as I was prescribed both! I guess I'm allergic to Sulpha medication but I didn't know:/

I took bactrim 2 x a day for 5 days. Last pill was taken on Saturday. I woke up Sunday morning itching like crazy. Covered with hives. Went to urgent care . I was given prednisone and told to take an antihistamine. It was the worst 4 days of my life. I'll never take that medicine again.

I was given the medication for a bladder infection. I had taken it many times before with no reaction.

Oh ny! Mine allergy to this showed up after 1 dose! I all but stopped breathing! So glad you stopped taking this. I didn't feel right or get over the one pill for well over a month!

After taking the first dose of Bactrim DS . the top part of my stomach felt horrible and also made be just feel bad. I have taken for 3 days I have 2 days left but going back to my doctor this morning to see if he can prescribe something else for a UTI.
