My mother is 56, and she was diagnosed with hypertension 5 years back. Since then, she has been taking stamlo 5 and stamlo 2.5, each once a day. I would like to know the side effects of this drug,( if any) short term and long term.

I am 59 years and taking stamlo 5 since last 10 years is there any side effects of the medicine in the long period .

i am a hypertention patient .doctor prescribed to take Samlo5. now my BP is normal. should i continue it.

Swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs, are all reported to be a common side effects of Stamlo (Amlodipine).

Other side effects can include, but are not limited to the following:

headache
upset stomach
stomach pain
dizziness or lightheadedness
drowsiness
excessive tiredness
flushing (feeling of warmth)
more frequent or more severe chest pain
rapid, pounding, or irregular heartbeat
fainting

@mumtaz,

I haven't found any specific details stating that amlodipine has contraindications against users with kidney or liver problems, so "in my opinion" it should be fine to take. Have you consulted a doctor about your kidney and liver condition?
