Side Effects Of Mood Stabilizer

My doctor prescribed me 15mg of Abilify after telling me I had the symptoms of classic Bi-Polar. I took it, and that day I felt horrible. Nausea, very weak, dizzy, and i ended up throwing up at work. i tried it twice. the second time not as bad, because i had more food in my stomach, but still not worth it to me, to feel so weak, feeble, and dizzy. so i decided to start taking halves, and even then i felt not so great. very anxious, this empty feeling inside, physically, that made me feel like i needed to have something (a shirt or jacket that fit tightly, and just was against me.) the anxiety had gotten quite bad, and i am usually an avid reader, and could barely read more than a page or two while taking this. i talked to my doctor about it, and he gave me 2mg samples, told me to take 2 of those for a few days, until eventually i could build up to 7.5. but my anxiety was still too much, and so yesterday night i only took about .5mg of Abilify, and i don't feel half as anxious. i didn't know what else to do, because the job i have i really can't be giving off an anxious air, because it could really affect my clients negatively. the abilify was helping me to not get such high highs, and in turn, not go so low after the highs, but i don't want the anxiety it has caused me. now i am feeling a little high, and i am hoping i don't crash hard, and become suicidal or very depressed. luckily i got 10mg prozac yesterday, and i am hoping that helps me from getting too low. but i don't like the high feeling much either, because it feels too good, and i know it can't last.

Everything you described can be normal side effects of Abilify, which contains the active ingredient Aripiprrazole.

Normally, side effects like this are only experienced during the first 4 to 6 weeks of use, as your body adjusts to the medication, that is usually when they hit their peak and then start to taper off in severity.

However, to lessen their impact, many people do need to titrate up, slowly, which is what your doctor was trying to have you do. Have you spoken to your doctor, again, yet?

There are other medications on the market that you can try.
