Shelcal contains Calcium and Vitamin D, so it is a nutritional supplement that is used to help treat or prevent the problems that can be associated with a deficiency in these vital nutrients.

As such, however, it has not been tested for side effects, as is done with prescription medications, but the Calcium has been known to cause constipation.

It's not a complete formulation. Taking calcium without magnesium is like committing suicide, as high calcium and low calcium ratios can cause many complications.

Most shellcal products lack magnesium and vitamin k2. Magnesium is required to take calcium at right places that is bones only and not to be deposited in arteries and organ. Same is without vit k2 your body lack ability to store excess calcium out of organs and only store at bones.

4..lungs are the common route of calcium which may reduce your free respiration
5...calcium is known to cause stones
6..hare mollatile it needs a strong liver to digest in proper condition

Hi VIjaya here , I think Ca supplement is necessary evil. Synthetic products caused tiny kidney stones so I'm using herbal ie Himalaya's Reosto it's safe.:-) :-)

I am not seeing the exact amount of calcium nor the details as to the specific calcium salt in Shelcal, and the same with the Vitamin D. This is extremely important so as not to give too much or too little calcium, and the same with Vitamin D. I have heard that Shelcal is calcium carbonate but I have not found specific product information on this product. Calcium carbonate is poorly absorbed & especially so in the older individual. I also have heard that the amount of Vit D3 is only 250 IU. That amount is so tiny that I would consider it having no biological consequence. But where is the formal documentation of ingredients in one tablet of Shelcal?

I am taking shelcal 500 twice a week and sometimes 3 days a week. Is there any problem with this regimen? My Dr had suggested I take this for the last two years. I am 48 years old but now a days I have ankle pain and my weight is 76 kg. Please advise.

No,unless you dont hv any problem with your bones dont take, otherwise extra calcium may lead to stone problem or accumulation in organs ,pancreas etc.
