Seroquel - How Long Typically To See Benefits?
UpdatedMy father has been on Seroquel for about 3 weeks for bi-polar disorder. He also has occasional bouts with paranoia. He will occasionally get very angry/agitated and lash out at family members. He still occasionally shows signs of paranoia. In other words, it at first appeared these symptoms were improving, but are still recurring. For those that have taken this drug for something similar, is this to be expected? Thanks for any guidance.

Hello, Will! How are you and your father?
It usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks for such a medication to reach its full level of efficacy. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, somnolence, weight gain and headache.
It's fairly typical for this to happen, while someone's body is getting used to the medication. If there is no improvement soon, or if his symptoms worsen, you should consult his doctor.
Is he on any other medications?
Do they prescribe serif quell for Alzheimer's? That's what it looks like he has from your description of behaviors. I took Seroquel to regulate sleep years ago. Being allegedly bipolar, it only worked for about three days
