Seroquel Being Prescribed Along With Other Medications

First, should Seroquel be given to a mentally retarded man, who can not communicate to the Dr(s) if he was having any side effects to this medication? Heard it is a really heavy duty medication and must be prescribed by a physcian, very carefully. Also should it be taken along with other medications that he has been prescribed?

It is an antipsychotic medication and they can be pretty powerful, but they are commonly prescribed to these types of patients, just as much as they are to someone with a normal mental capacity.

He should just be closely monitored by his family and doctors for any side effects, such as:


nausea, dizziness, sedation and the development of diabetes.

As to whether or not it can be taken with other medications, it really depends on the specific medications. With some it is fine, but it can cause interactions with others.
