Side Effects While Taking Allopurinol

Years ago I was on Allupurinol, for excess uric acid., Then my ankles and feet starting to swell, and I went to the foot doctor, who put bandages around my legs. but it did not help. He ,then , send me to a Therapist, for massages and a few pedaling excersices..... but one of the therapist, told me, that if I was on Alluporinol, some people experience the same swelling. So, of my own, I stop Allupinol, and my swelling and soreness, disappear. Now I have had tophis, from the uric acid... and a rheumatogist put me again on Allopurinol, and it has been 3 months, and today, the same happens, my feet are sore, when I walk,and very swollen.... So I will stop again this medication, and will tell my rheumatologist, all about it. Dont know what he is going to use now.....? If you have heard similar cases to my own please let me know... Thank you

Use febuxstat instead of allopurinol your weight gain will stop

Many people are allergic to allopurinol, it gave me migraine like headaches and continuous acid reflux, side effects for me were worse than the gout, had some weight gain from it, went away immediately once I went off it, think it was water retention. Next step, uloric (febuxostat)is supposed to have fewer side effrcts. Vegetarian diet, black cherry juice and lots of milk products are keeping me symptom free right now without the allopurinol.

That can be a side effect of Alloprurinol, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may include nausea, insomnia, depression, vertigo, and angina.

The Febuxostat that Hemanth mentioned is another option available in some countries for those that can't take, or didn't respond to Allopurinol.

However, it does carry a warning that it creates a higher risk of fatal cardiovascular events, so if you have a hart condition, you may not be able to take it.
