I went to the hospital and was given metronidazole to take twice a day for 7 days. During this time i started to take them my period was suppose to come 4 days later but when that day came i had no period. I just wanna know is it possible this antibiotic is causing me not to have a period? And i have been breastfeeding my 1 year old... not a lot, just here and there because she trying to wean herself off. Could it harm her in anyway? ## Hello, Royal! How are you? While the FDA does report that Metronidazole is secreted in breast milk, no adverse effects on infants have been reported. As to your period, most antibiotics can cause irregularities, or delayed periods, according to the NIH. Has there been any change? Have you started, yet?

Make sure you don't have trichomonias. That cannot be cured with creams or antibiotics. The drug of choice is usually flagyl. This infection causes pain with intercourse, green, awful smelling discharge and is caused by protozoan not bacteria. Have a pap at once, I advise. Good luck.

I have an abcess in my gums my next door neighbor gave me metronidazole pliva 334 said it will stop the infection and help rid the abcess is this true ## Hello, Aaron! How are you? You need to see your dentist. While the FDA does classify Metronidazole as an antibiotic, so it may help, it will not fix whatever underlying problem has caused the abscess, such as a deep dental cary. Until you have that taken care of, the infection will keep returning and worsening. You also may not have enough to fully eradicate the infection, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance. Typical side effects to this antibiotic may include nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi, I just had a root canal and my specialist put me on Flagyl 25...

My doctor said I have trichomonis and prescribed klion d for 10 nights along with metronidazole for 7 days twice daily. Im reading all the side effect and would jus like to know if this insert is safe ## It is far less risk to take the medications than to let your condition continue being untreated. I was on Metronidazole for 7 days & finished it 3 days ago. I experienced some nausea & even vomited a couple of times while taking it but now that I am not taking it anymore I have been having strong stomach cramps off and on & as of today I also have very watery diarrhea. Is it normal to be having side effects associated with this antibiotic this long after finishing it?? ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? Yes, that is normal. If it lasts more than a week, or if it gets worse, you should consult your doctor. But as explained by the NIH, antibiotics don't just eradicate the harmful bacteria in your body, they eradicate all bacteria, both good and bad. Thus, once your finish your course of treatment, these effects can still linger in your body and it will take a few days for ...

This is the Ndc # for Watson's Metronidazole. Is this drug still good? It's 250mg and it expired in 2015. ## If it is in a bottle as dispensed by your pharmacy, and not the original sealed manufacturers container, then the expiration would have been in 2016. It does not become dangerous after it expires, but it does begin to lose efficacy, thus the best thing to do would be to dispose of it and see your doctor for a new prescription. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was given four of these to take at once to treat Trichomoniasis. It's the third day and the discharge is a much lighter discharge but still there. Will it eventually go away or do I need more tablets? ## Hello, Susanna! How are you? If you're seeing improvement, then that means it is most likely clearing up and you'll just need to give it a few days, but if you're concerned, please double check with your doctor. However, generally with antibiotics if there's an improvement after 3 days, that means they are working. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and non-allergic skin rash. I suffer from an intestinal parasite (Endolimax nana), and I was prescribed metronidazole (Flagyl) at a daily dose of 1000 mg per day for a week. Every drug has its side effects, but I was particularly worried about the possibility of developing peripheral neuropathy since my father had suffered from that condition for many years. In spite of assurances from my physician, my feet went numb, with some additional numbness in my hands and wrists, not to mention the fact that the drug was ineffective against the parasite. I’m writing now in the hope that this will reach those of you have experienced similar side effects: I want to report that the neuropathy is in fact reversible and that you WILL eventually regain feeling in your extremities. ## Most side effects are transient, accord...

When will Metronidazole reduce the swelling in my mouth or even eliminate it completely? ## Did your doctor or dentist prescribe it for you? It may not properly treat such an infection and, even if it does, if the swelling is due to a dental issue, it will not correct that problem, so you'll still need to see a dentist to have it rectified. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and diarrhea.

I have the pill METRONIDAZOLE it expires 1/ 13 2013 is it still safe to take the tablet ## Hi shonta, Based on my research certain drugs are actually okay to take many years after their expiration date, whereas others such as, specific types of antibiotics (namely tetracycline) can become toxic. Normally I'd still consider taking something like that if it's only been two months old, but because it's an antibiotic (and I don't know if it can become toxic) I would encourage you to get a new script from your doctor or have it lab tested for quality, before relying on it for a serious infection. I hope this advice helps! ## Hi can you still take metronidazole after if it expired Feb2015 this year? It was properly stored. ## I have antibiotic thats been expired since 2015 can...

I went to the ER and was treated for an allericic reaction to flagyl. I had a rash, shortness of breath, severe heartburn and stomach cramps. How long do these symptoms last after being treated in a local ER? ## What type of treatment did the ER provide? It can take a week or two, for all of the symptoms to clear up, depending on how much you had taken, how long you took it and etc., according to the NIH. Such reactions usually get worse, with repeated exposure, though, so it would likely be best to avoid taking this medication in the future.

I started taking metronidazole 500mg tablets on 9/26 three times daily for 10 days and take progesterone only BC DAILY. I had intercourse on 10/1 and went right home taking my pill. I was to start my period somewhere between Thursday and Saturday (I'm irregular) and have not started yet, should I be worried? ## I didn't find any problems, or interactions listed, it is usually the level of estrogen that some antibiotics can alter that reduces the efficacy of some oral contraceptives, according to the NIH. If you're concerned about pregnancy, there is never any harm in checking, but if you're irregular anyway, there is likely nothing to worry about. Have you started, yet?

I had miscarried with a retained substance in my womb which was later expelled after 1month, 3weeks. Expulsion was accompanied with a bad smell, but I had an ultrasound after the expulsion and ma womb was empty. I need you to please tell me the dosages I need for these drugs. Thank you
