Numbness Gone

I suffer from an intestinal parasite (Endolimax nana), and I was prescribed metronidazole (Flagyl) at a daily dose of 1000 mg per day for a week. Every drug has its side effects, but I was particularly worried about the possibility of developing peripheral neuropathy since my father had suffered from that condition for many years. In spite of assurances from my physician, my feet went numb, with some additional numbness in my hands and wrists, not to mention the fact that the drug was ineffective against the parasite. I’m writing now in the hope that this will reach those of you have experienced similar side effects: I want to report that the neuropathy is in fact reversible and that you WILL eventually regain feeling in your extremities.

Most side effects are transient, according to the NIH and tend to go away with time, once your body gets used to a medication, or after you finish your course of treatment. It may take anywhere from one week to a month.

There are very rare times where something might be permanent, but most are not.

Have you eradicated the parasite, yet?
