Refilling My Valid Xanax Prescription Early (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI only see one doctor and he gives me a 3 month supply of xanax. When I went the last time he wrote me out a prescription but I still had two refills. I had a friend and her husband passed away and I gave her some of mine thinking I would have no problem re-filling the prescription. I had sense enough not to go to the same pharmacy and not to give my insurance information. So I go to this small drug store by my house and I had to fill out paperwork such as dob, name and my DL #. Well they paged me to the front of the store and advised me that it was 7 days to early for them to re-fill. So my question is where can I go to re-fill a prescription that is valid written by the same doctor. I only tried one place, I'm guessing they must have a data base if you try and refill your prescription early (even without your insurance) does anyone have advice on where I can go to get this filled?
Just wanna tell you DO NOT TRY TO FILL THAT SCRIPT!! I'm on felony prob. for JUST TRYING to fill my Xanax early at another pharmacy an didn't give my info I figured they wouldn't be able to tell... I'm on prob. now 1 year of my 5 year sentence first time offender once I tried they have a way to pull up everything you have filled when an where an how you paid they called the dr told the dr I was trying to fill early the dr in turn called the dea I was picked up an arrested a week later on 6 felonies the dr was in one parish I tried to fill it early in another parish so I had 3 felonies in each parish from insurance fraud an obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud all because I tried to fill it I didn't even get the script back they kept it and called the dr I had no idea that I would get in trouble with my own script!!
Kally, you are very wrong. Why you can't even spell the pill right, its Xanax?
I agree that these people who think they know something but don't, should stay off these sites and preach to the choir somewhere. "Never share your medicine..." "Benzos are addictive...." PLEASE, don't you realize everyone knows the sanctimonious, condescending kindergarten crap you post? And what's worse is when your type THINK they know and post totally inaccurate statements. Get lost.
I think the word "narcotic" is being mixed up and defined in more than one way. Some people refer to and consider narcotics as any drug which is commonly abused and trafficked illegally. Others define narcotics as only opioids (opiate pain killers such as Hydrocodone, Morphine, etc).
For example, if you Google the definition of narcotic it says: "a drug or other substance affecting mood or behavior and sold for nonmedical purposes, especially an illegal one"
However, on the DEA's web page for Controlled Substance Schedules, they seem to only be referring to opioid medications when using the word "narcotic":
"Examples of Schedule II narcotics include: hydromorphone (Dilaudid®), methadone (Dolophine®), meperidine (Demerol®), oxycodone (OxyContin®, Percocet®), and fentanyl (Sublimaze®, Duragesic®). Other Schedule II narcotics include: morphine, opium, codeine, and hydrocodone ...
Examples of Schedule III narcotics include: products containing not more than 90 milligrams of codeine per dosage unit (Tylenol with Codeine®), and buprenorphine (Suboxone®) ... "
So, despite both definitions being technically correct, one thing is for certain: Benzodiazepenes are NOT opioid medications and are in a different category. Hope this helps to clear up some confusion! Please vote me up if you found this helpful at all ;)
I have never been in trouble and gave a friend 11 lortabs 10/500 and they gave me a trafficking charge.. because the amount of the pills with apap. was over 4 grams... I did 4 1/2 years in prison.. this was in Fla... 50,000$ fine plus 20,000$ on lawyers... don't ever give your meds out!
@ Vernon and Deb, what you are saying is true however there is another hoop that has to be jumped through, at least according to my shrink. When he recently changed my script he had to call the pharmacy and cancel the other script so that they could fill the new one. This may be just in my state but am betting that is already in affect in most states. Also, deb,the pharmacy doesn't have to fill any script, they can and do refuse legally.
@Morgayne, I don't know anything about a project started at Duke. I have been told that ER Dr.s, GP's, etc will not be able to write a script for Xanax of more then 10 pills. I don't know if that is true or not.
I see a shrink who was writing me a script for 60/.5mg a month with 3 refills. She just upped me to 60/1mg a month with two refills. I didn't ask her to up my dosage, she just did and said if I didn't need a whole 1mg cut it in half. I have been on Xanax since 1996 with other meds for PTSD and severe anxiety. I have changed Dr.s and States without ever having a problem.
I do believe that what has or is going to happen will be that ONLY mental health Dr.s will be able to write this type of script. Your family Dr. or whom ever will only be able to give you enough to hold you until you can get in to see a shrink.
I think this is partly due to the ACA which requires all insurance companies to now cover mental health. Makes that old excuse of my insurance doesn't cover worthless.
My script was wrote a week ago and I had no problem filling it.
Good Luck
I guess you can't read either because I never said my child was born addicted to Xanax! I never even said I was on Xanax my entire pregnancy and as a so called Neonatal Nurse which I know your lying about you would know the effects of benzo's on a fetus! I don't need to wait till she's older because the medication I was on does not cause neurological problems! You are the i**** that not only put your life at risk as well as your unborn child by stopping the medication cold turkey! Your 5 months of misery and depression would cause more damage and stress to an unborn child than being monitored by a high risk OBGYN! I had the Top High Risk specialist OBGYN doctor in the state if NY! I surely trust him & his staff over a delusional drug addict claiming to be a nurse! Your nasty defensive attitude obviously shows you have issues and need to be medicated with a mood stabilizer rather than anxiety medication!
Amen!!! I feel so bad for all those people who are and really severe pain that got cut off their medication because of all the junkies that lie their way through the f****** ER and so this f****** b******* clinics..... so the good people that actually need it don't get Nothin I mean they are profiling and discriminate more than anything to cover up the government's mistake that they may be hiring freaking people weren't qualified to be handling narcotics those people you can tell are on the narcotics themselve... defensive much
No question it is true in Florida. This is not a Federal Law but a State statute. The Doctor could have doubled your dose to get you some extras, and you might have some serious problems until you can get a refill. And the Pharmacist has heard of the new Florida laws. I even saw an interesting statement in my Miami Doctors file where it said patient is advised I will dispense 135 tablets a month and no more. That was news to me?
Eddy, They gave me the wrong strength, in the first place. It should have never been raise to .5. But I took it for 6 months. Stupid, stupid. But if the dosage is changed. I don't understand why she wouldn't refill. She also told me to call my dr in the morning to add more drugs to my life to help me sleep. I'm not sure what to do here. I don't like taking meds as it is. The nerve of her.
Nothing I read here at technical section here at the site supports your claim about Lamictal ? Your medicine is for Bi Polar People. People who suffer from anxiety generally are not bi- polar. In fact mood stabalizers and Lamictal can cause anxiety? Nasty stuff
Something tells me CVS is now participating in the NJ Rx Monitoring Database as of December 2013. On the 23rd I went to my usual CVS in NJ and filled my Adderall and attempted to fill my Xanax. A couple things which caught my attention. The pharmacist filled the script for 120 30mg Adderall with no concerns. She handed the freshly written script for 90 2mg Xanax w/ 1 refill back to me and said "your last script was for a 30 day supply. You're 7 days too early". This CVS has filled Xanax and Adderall scripts 10-12 days early for me as I travel for business which they have validated. Point being I'm fairly sure CVS is now participating in the NJ database because every patients name gets standardized as it appears on their NJ Drivers license. All the documentation I received last month does not include my middle name or middle initial. This month all my documentation has my full name, DOB, and quantity remaining if there are refills ex. (QTY REMAINING 180). 2 refills. These are the exact same changes Walgreens made to comply with NJ Rx monitoring. My doc does not write (do not fill until 30 days post script) or (30 day supply). My doctor insists I call as soon as an issue crops up. But this is an extremely petty reason to waste to doc's time. I may go to another CVS. But I'm not gonna go pharmacy hopping to get this filled. This wouldn't bother me except I'm set to travel to Montreal for business on the 29th. I'll leave you with a noggin' scratcher. Why would the pharmacist fill the CII Adderall with no qualms but simply refuse the CIV Xanax script? It seems it should be the other way around.
It is the lState Prescription Monitoring Program that has your name and details of meds you've gotten filled. Any pharmacist can access it and so can you dr. Also a lot of states are combining their databases and can see what you've gotten filled in another state.
Unless a doctors had restriction put on them for disciplinary reasons, they can write prescriptions for what they want to and for how long they want to. The key is it is their choice and their decision. It seems that it is easier for doctors to lie to patients than to tell them the truth about why they don't want to write a prescription or continue writting it. Check the DEA website and your state laws to verify what doctors can write for and how much.
yes I have advice NO Where........ you have to wait. because I am an ex medical assistant and now the FDA, mad all the pharmacy's hook up together so there is no more pharmacy shopping. there just isn't anything you can do unless you call your Dr. and tell him you had a death in the family and tell him you took a little more because you were so upset and he may call the pharmacy and let them let you have 1 early this once. good luck. don't share I know people want to help others but then it mess's you up good luck
I must first tell you the obvious so do not feel lectured, never give out your medicine for the obvious reasons ! Now, in Ohio we have what is called ORRS Ohio Rx Reporting System - I think it stands for. If you are prescribed a schedule drug (narcotic) which xanax is, then this is reported. Due dilligence would mean any pharmacy will check your profile with ORRS (or your states alike program) before filling a schedule drug and especially if you are a new client to their store. So, hopefully this is a lesson learned. My advise would be to contact your doctor or suffer through.
I was told by my pharmacy that I was five days early, even tho my Dr. Called it in. The same pharmacy filled it early (5 days each time) before suddenly refusing yesterday. I called my doc, was honest in telling him I had gone over daily instructed amount and he upped my script from 2.5 (1 mg)/day to 3. Definitely be honest. If you're not abd get caught in the lie, you're screwed fever. You'll be the boy who cried xanax.
Yes it certainly is Class 4
Your body will build a tolerance to any benzo's after being on it for a while! It is extremely dangerous to stop the medication without tapering off under doctors supervision! You hand have seizures and die! I understand you became pregnant but you should have told your OBGYN! I was on Klonopin 6mg when I got pregnant was switched to 4mg Xanax until my 22 week and was put back on my regular dose of 6mg klonopin! Though a category D pregnancy drug your doctor must decide which is more detrimental! I have a healthy 9 month old girl who did not suffer any physical deformaties or neurological! She born positive for Benzo's but did not suffer withdrawals at all!
