Refilling My Valid Xanax Prescription Early (Page 13)

Updated

I only see one doctor and he gives me a 3 month supply of xanax. When I went the last time he wrote me out a prescription but I still had two refills. I had a friend and her husband passed away and I gave her some of mine thinking I would have no problem re-filling the prescription. I had sense enough not to go to the same pharmacy and not to give my insurance information. So I go to this small drug store by my house and I had to fill out paperwork such as dob, name and my DL #. Well they paged me to the front of the store and advised me that it was 7 days to early for them to re-fill. So my question is where can I go to re-fill a prescription that is valid written by the same doctor. I only tried one place, I'm guessing they must have a data base if you try and refill your prescription early (even without your insurance) does anyone have advice on where I can go to get this filled?

Generally, two days early is not a problem with getting your script filled.

Whenever pharmacy have refills of medication in their computer for you, they can refill if you want. It. It's a good idea to submit new scrips to the pharmacy and they will log it in the computer until it's time to refill it. If you hold onto it and the script expire then you have to back to the doctor for another script. It is not a good idea to pharmacy hop. With the new regulations iin place, any pharmacy you go to will see in their computer that you recently had a script filled.. It is a good idea to Google the regulations about narcotics in your state.

No pharmacy is going to fill it 7 days earlier. It not even the pharmacy, but your insurance. If you are running out of meds before the time then you are not taking it has it was prescribed. You. Need to talk with your doctor about it.

The term narcotic drug means any of the following whether produced directly or indirectly by extraction from substances of vegetable origin or independently by means of chemical synthesis or by a combination of extraction and chemical synthesis:

(i) Opium, opiates, derivatives of opium and opiates, including their isomers, esters, ethers, salts, and salts of isomers, esters, and ethers whenever the existence of such isomers, esters, ethers and salts is possible within the specific chemical designation. Such term does not include the isoquinoline alkaloids of opium.
(ii) Poppy straw and concentrate of poppy straw.
(iii) Coca leaves, except coca leaves and extracts of coca leaves from which coke, ecgonine and derivatives of ecgonine or their salts have been removed.
(iv) Coke, its salts, optical and geometric isomers, and salts of isomers.
(v) Ecgonine, its derivatives, their salts, isomers and salts of isomers.
(vi) Any compound, mixture, or preparation which contains any quantity of any of the substances referred to.

What a joke.. I straight up tell my doctor that I buy through other means when I run out. Why lie, it just shows how much the pills have you by the nuts. My advice is to quit taking them if you can't take them as prescribed. Addiction is addiction if you get them from a doctor or other means, doesn't change the fact. The goal here is to take them when absolutely needed, not to make you feel normal when you wake up and to hold you through the day.. A lot of people lie even on here.. Oh I gave them to a friend, bull s***, your abusing the Xanax and need to be cut off! Be cool don't be a fool..

Excuse any typos I'm using the auto dictation -- I can't believe the crap replies you've gotten from some people, this is so easy to explain once and for all!! DEA a national reporting database every controlled substance goes into it it has nothing to do with your insurance and it's accessible by Pharmacy's doctors and law-enforcement. Insurance commonly pays for a prescription two days earlier Ie on the 28th day of a 30 day supply. If you don't have insurance or you attempt to pay cash elsewhere when the pharmacist pulls up your name in the database they will immediately see that you're attempting to fill a prescription early they also abide by a 2829 or 30th day refill policy I have been a regular patient at a specific pharmacy they used to abide by 28 days and I'm cash pay but a couple years ago they made everyone switch to a 29th day refill policy! There is no filling scripts early anymore if you want to fill a prescription early the prescriber i.e. the doctor must physically write a new prescription with new directions either an increase in dose or an increase in quantity that's it nothing more to say on this matter! I had a parent die and had to go out of town they don't care they care about the DEA revoking they're prescribing controlled substance is they worry about being sued by an attic's family when they overdose they worry about legal issues if they fill early and the person is selling drugs there's no filling it early enough said!!! Geez why so many posts on the same thing? It's the DEA a national database it's not going to happen no sob story in the world nothing nada zip zero is going to matter, the only thing that can change the fill date is a physical new prescription with different directions and or quantity!!!

I recently went to my Dr. to get my scripts, and my xanax script was good for two weeks, and I have to wait two weeks to get second half. This is not fair, I've been taking them for 3 years, he said new Jersey is cracking down because of people over dosing, its hard enough to fill them now with no car, and most pharmacy carries what you need and got to wait for shipment. And I live in a dry town, so when I leave my dr, a pharmacy down the street always has them, but now I have to take a 3 buses to pick up 2nd week remainder. How can I avoid this for me? It's getting out of control, I look in the web and never seen this new law. And A pharmacy told me you can't do that, its 30 day script, if written for 15 days with a refill, I have to go back to Dr. in two weeks for a new one. Help please.

Most pharmacies are up to 3 days early at least for me. Other than that there are no other options

I will be going to my Dr. on March 25. I will get my RX for Hydrocodone. Being it was written before March 27, can I fill the paper RX after March 27, like March 30 or will it have to be e scripted.

I agree, most people don't give away narcotics and leave themselves short. Most doctors will not give a refill just because a person say they have it to a friend. Actually, it is illegal to give your narcotics to someone else. in fact, you can tell the doctors that they fell into the toilet by accident and they still would not give you a script before it's due.

No pharmacy will fill it earlier. It's a controlled substance and is rigorously watched by the gov't. If your physically addicted, I am sad to say but you've got to think of yourself first and not give out your meds. If the people you gave them to really need it, you can serve them better by finding out who they can see immediately at a time like that who will give them ehat they need, since they were grieving, finding out the info for them would be even better than doling out your own, because they probably also need councelling also.

Joannie, you need to check with your pharmacist. Be sure you talk to the pharmacist and not a clerk or tech. Each state has laws on how long a Schedule II prescription is valid.

Doctors still fill prescriptions for opiates? I was cut off a few years ago after getting 120 Norco a month. A lot of people I know lost their script too.

Ryan, yes drs stil write prescriptions for opiates. You will more than likely need a pain management dr. Many drs won't give that many immediate release pain meds any longer, they give extended release instead. You will need a copy of your medical records and chances are current diagnostic results to prove that there is a medical reason for you to be prescribed pain meds. You will need to sign a pain contract and have random drug panels.

I was cut off over three years ago during the huge DEA scare since then I have taper down off opiates on methadone it was my only choice I really don't see any future at least for Americans to have enough legal opiates to get by with this new opiate drug war

As far as getting any script that is a scheduled drug field earlier than 3 or 2 Days in America it is just impossible so I would tell you to not try and do it because it seriously will not work trust me people on this board have tried and I have tried the pharmacies are too scared of getting sued or in trouble with the DEA. If you need your medicine that much sooner you should get your doctor to prescribe you more medicine I am just telling you the truth because I have been there and it will not work the earliest I've ever gotten a prescription for a scheduled narcotic is 3 days early and that was pushing it

I don't think this worked but I can tell you the earliest you can get any controlled substance filled is two to three days. Trust me I have tried it ... doesn't matter the drug as long as it's a controlled substance the pharmacy will tell you that they cannot fill it longer than 2 to 3 days. I have tried this many times and it hasn't worked maybe you should try asking your doctor for more medication if you need more medication.

If the opiate was hydrocodone, that is now a schedule 2 substance. 3 days is definitly pushing it. 2 days will get you funny looks, like what is wrong with you? DEA has doctors running scared.

Hello everyone, do any of you know a doctor who will have no problem prescribing prescription sleep aids in Central Jersey? Preferably in the Union or Middlesex County? Also, I am seeing a psychiatrist who has me on Xanax PRN and Zoloft 200mg daily for depression, anxiety and panic attacks. I am suffering from terrible insomnia. I have a problem falling asleep and staying asleep. I am asking for some feedback if any of you guys think he would also prescribed a prescription sleep aid? Should I even ask him? Thanks everyone, hopefully some of you can help.
