Can I take Lagatrim (Cotrimoxazole) in place of Purbac (Sulphamethoxazole,Trimethoprim) together with ARVs? ## Both Lagatrim/Cotrimoxazole, and Purbac contain the same active ingredients, Sulfamethoxazole, and Trimethoprim, so they are interchangeable, as long as the dosage, and dosage frequency is the same. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, non-allergic skin rash, and headache. I have been on Purbac for acne, today (Wednesday) marks the 3rd week of treatment. Last week on Thursday was my last day having my period. Today I had intercourse with my fiance and the condom broke. Am I at risk of pregnancy? Does ovulation play a part in this? Can I take contraceptives? ## Antibiotics like Purbac can reduce the efficacy of hormonal contraceptives, creating a risk of pregnancy. My Rottweiler is 4 months ... Can I give him purbac as he needs antibiotics? He has pavro virus. And I don't have financials to take him to vet again... He is very weak, will not eat or drink, vomits and watery stool. So just want to know will it be safe to give him purbac? ## Sorry to hear that your dog is sick :( Unfortunately, if he is sick with a viral infection, Purbac and other antibiotics will not help, as those only treat bacteria and do not kill viruses. Truthfully it would be best to get a proper diagnosis from a veterinarian so that the right treatment may be prescribed. It sounds like dehydration is a concern at this stage if he is not keeping down water and is having diarrhea.

My dr prescribed Purbac Ds 950 mg tabs, but the tab the chemist gave to me does not look like the correct tablet, as there is the word C24 engraved on the tab. Is this the right one or not? ## In my investigation, neither Purbac Adult, Purbac DS or Purbac Paediatric suspension are available in 950mg dosage forms.
