Propanolol Side Effects/severe Shortness Of Breath Esp. At Night (Top voted first)
UpdatedI started taking Propanolol for PVC's 2 weeks ago. 10mg once a day. That made me dizzy so i cut it up into two doses. 5 mg twice a day. That seemed to work well. I did have a few side effects for about 7 days....extremely cold hands, shortness of breath, dizziness but then I felt great for about 3 days. Now it is horrible. I started feeling REALLY tired. Can't hold my eyes open tired. Can't seem to get woke up of the mornings and now for the last 2 nights I have been so short of breath it is waking me up. Like I will fall asleep and right after I doze off, I wake up by gasping for air. I have never had this problem before and it is worrying me. I have had several Ekg's in the last 10 years and all have been normal. Last one I had was 10 months ago. Someone suggested Adernal fatigue but I have also read this is a sign of congestive heart failure. I am 34 yr old female. I have been completely sober for 3 years. I stopped smoking 2 years ago. I don't really excerise or anything. Does anybody have any advice that could help? I'm very worried. I have Dr.'s appointment This coming tuesday.

Hello, April! How are you doing?
What did your doctor say about the breathing issue?
That could be the sign of a very dangerous medical condition, such as congestive heart failure, especially with it being worse at night. That's a classic sign of it.
Has your weight changed suddenly?
I was so worried about it that I completely stopped my propanolol. The symptoms got better for a few days but then restarted as of 3 days ago. I had blood work and all of it was perfect. My Dr listened to my lungs and checked to see if I had any ankle swelling but everything was great and I am not having night sweats. She told to stop all medication (propanolol and 800mg IBU) and see if that helps...but that she didn't really know what was causing it. I am confused and don't know what to do.
I had been on Propanolol for years with no problems but started having a fib so they took me off of it and put me on multaq I will take Propanolol anytime over Multaq that I'm on, But I do know some people can not take Propanolol but for me it was great and helped with anxiousness . Which they some times give it for. I was taking 20 mg a day. Good luck . Wish we didnt have to take any of these medications. You take one to fix one problem and it gives you another one. I'm just going to pray myself out of this.
