I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

It is a tough call, esp.with long term steroid use. I wish I had read the comments before agreeing to Prolia. It was unlike me to do so, but I was shocked and frightened.
Of course, now I regret the decision.

Five and a half months after my first prolix injection I was covered with a rash that drove my itchily nuts for weeks. My doc didn't think it was caused by the prolix, so he did the second injection at six months. Three months later I developed shingles. Endocrinologist says that the outbreak was due to prolia. BE VERY CAREFUL!

I am happy for your decision. I just had my first Prolia injection and have had a whole lot of side effects; so much that I am totally disabled. I am a very healthy 60 year old who normally goes to the gym 5 or 6 times a week, do spinning, weights, yoga, etc., and this horrible medication left me disabled for a week now. I have lost 10 pounds and look as if I had added 10 years!

What are we all waiting for to sue this horrendous company that profits from our pain with little or no gain at all for our health????? How much we have already spent in dental care, special transportation, attendant care (because we are disabled but, like me, are not technically eligible for disability allowances), etc. Does anyone know of a place where we can go for assistance with this?

It is pretty hard to fight Big Pharma.
I try word of mouth, sharing my experience. Doctors are not going to do it. I consider myself a highly informed patient, having had chronic conditions for a lifetime. In addition, I am a retired nurse. It was when I was vulnerable,(shocked and frightened) that I agreed to this therapy.

If anyone lives in or near NYC, Dr. Loren Fishmen has done scientific studies on the efficacy of certain Yoga poses for treating Osteoporosis.

I agree with you Sal! let as many people know as you can by word of mouth. Social media is a great thing. Ask them to spread the word and tell them to read issues on here. Yes, there are a few (very few) who are exceptions and had no trouble but they are in the minority. Spread the word like wildfire.

Maritere~for a Class Action Suit against Amgen, everyone has to have the same exact problems which we do not. Some get skin problems, others do not. I believe that those who have lost teeth from this drug would be done excellently on an individual basis. The only thing we ALL have in common is a compromised immune system. I was just at my Dentist's office and informed him of this forum and of all the people with teeth problems - Prolia strikes at the gum line and kills the root of the tooth. He was totally amazed. Some are lucky and find it early because it gets infected and they are able to save the tooth but if one has no pain or known tooth problems, then the tooth or teeth cannot be saved. We have one lady that has to have 7 implants so we are talking about a lot of money here. I advised her to get her own attorney and go for a 60/40 basis. If she loses, no money is taken from her. If she wins, the attorney gets 40% plus expenses and she gets the 60% less expenses. There is no money from Amgen for pain and suffering. Now that my dentist knows the cause, I believe I can contact a local attorney to get some money for the implants I will need. Now maybe you can understand why it will be so difficult to go against Amgen. I got a cataract from Prolia but how can I prove it since I am at the age where they are common. Also my DNA came out of hiding and Celiac Disease showed up. There is no physician that will say the two are related other than the fact I had never had it before. They just say that's in your DNA. I am hoping this will be read by all so we know what a huge up hill battle we will be facing. I hate to be a wet rag on people's hopes but those are the facts regarding Prolia. Be well~Pood

It has been two months since my mom's first and only shot. With all the crap she has gone through because of this very very dangerous drug she has started losing teeth, It has been a journey of hell.

Absolutely, my skin withered as is the elasticity is very thin & appears to be on a 90 yr old woman. It was Not before. Also, the bottom part of my legs have NO strength to get down off a 17" step stool. My entire body is no longer as strong as it was. This was 1 shot. It cost Medicare $6000 And my part was $200. Not ever again.

i am a year out and still have rashes all over top section of my boday, I started exercise walking and my legs are all swollen, this has never happened to me before Prolia, fosamax and boniva. I have had so many issues , I hate the drugs and I warn anyone I could do not take bone density meds, so not worth all the pain.

I tell everyone to never take these drugs, they are poison. I finally had to have all of my top teeth pulled and it is a nightmare. It will be 8 months before I can have my implants. I hate the dentures and can't chew.

Ginger~the shingles were hiding in your DNA just like my Celiac Disease. The Prolia causes our immune system to malfunction and everything can and does go wrong. Were you old enough to have the vaccine for shingles - 50+ years old? This is why I say we only have two courses of action against Amgen~ 1. messed up immune system and 2. lost teeth and/or gum.

So Linda~have you called attorneys in your area to ask them if they would be willing to represent you? It seems now that you have lost more than 7 teeth. Implants range about $5,000 each so you figure your bill. That includes the pulling and stitching which you have already had done. If you have not started, get busy. You have a beyond excellent case that about any attorney would be glad to do for you. Pood

I haven't called an attorney but seriously considering it. I do not have the final costs from my dentist but he will let me know after he talks to the lab. He thinks the price for the teeth have gone down. Hope so.

Shingles is caused by a virus and not in your DNA. Getting a vaccine is not guarantee that you will not get anything. Now that your systems immune system is compromised from Prolia getting vaccines of any kind is not recommended.

It depends on your age as one is supposed to have it at age 50. My Accountant got shingles when she was 48 and too young for the vaccine. If you had Chicken Pox, the virus is still alive in your body. The injection against shingles is very, very effective. I know of no one that has got shingles after the vaccination. You are either under 50 or did get the vaccination against it and still got shingles from a messed up immune system? Where does this story go?

Linda, why are they making you wait so long? Because you still have a pretty active Prolia injection still going on in your body? You should be well cleared less than a year after the injection. I was lucky because I had an Immunologist on my case and that's why I got well in six months. If it had not been for her, I don't know if I would have made it. Now I have various broken vertebrae from stopping the poison. I truly believe you have the best case against Amgen that has been on this Forum. Call. The worst they can say is not interested. I had to call every attorney in town including friends that were attorneys for my case and I finally found one and we won. Pood

poodle not sure where you get your information. People do get shingles after a vaccine. NO vaccine is a guarantee. Vaccines have never been proven to be safe. Also it is recommended to get this vaccine at 60 not 50. Prolia compromises one's immune system and it is always recommended that a person with a compromised immune system not to get any vaccine. So being a nurse PLEASE consider the toxins in vaccines and putting those toxins in your system that is now depleted from Prolia.

Don't let any doctor tell you that the rash is not from Prolia. I had excema when I was a child and had never had it anymore until Prolia. I now have several rashes along with the excema. It was caused by taking the Prolia shot and I quit taking it and I am suffering occassionaly with rashes and excema and It has been 2 years since I had my last shot. This stuff is dangerous and I will never take it again.
